Such a cute awesome bookstore with all kinds of Christian items. Small, but unique, I just loved the place. The person that runs this bookstore was so kind and helpful, Most importantly...her heart was submerged in the Lord. This is the place if you want great Christian books...etc.. Keep the Faith!!! My husband and I have been going to this church since 2012. We lived close by in Glendora, and moved out near Jurupa Valley in 2013. We still make the drive all the way to Azusa for church...that's how much we love the teachings there and our church family who is always there for us when we need it. We love the coziness (we're not really into mega churches), so for us, it's perfect. read more

I would give it no stars if I could. I have heard nothing but bad things about this church from people who served their years ago but I thought I would give it a chance since I live in Azusa, but I always wondered why it's not called Calvary Chapel Azusa & why it never grows and seems to get smaller and smaller & now I know why.... 1st it's hard to find where the entrance is we got their 15 minutes early and saw no signs, no parking guy, no usher. So we tried to go into front but couldn't so went around back and some people barely got their, so finding parking walking around driving around it was 7 already. 2 gals walked right in, but when my husband & I got to the door some tall, old, fat man shut the door and crossed his arms and mad dogged my husband. My husband said is this Calvary Chapel he said yes.. Got in my husbands face and said what's your name? We should of left right than we just could not believe this is their greeter. Come to find out the guy isn't even Christian he is a hired security guard. What happened to a welcoming face and place. It's tiny, tiny, tiny. 2 people out 16 where friendly. Noisy, dark and for some reason my seat was wet. A lot of teenagers, every time I sang they would turn around & look at me. They did not pay attention they straight up had a conversation while the so called pastor preached on rape. He added to God's word, he said things that were not in the Bible, he mainly talked about himself and tried to be funny. The guy leading worship was not skilled. I NEVER walked out of ANY Calvary Chapel before but we did this one. NO love at this church. Don't go here keep driving to a real God teaching church any other Calvary in town. read more

There are several awesome reviews, and one bad review. I have been to this church. I live in Wyoming. I attended this church for years prior to moving and attend there every time I return to Cali to visit family. This occurs 3-4 times each year. The church is small, one of the reasons I love it. For a small church, they have a talented worship leader. Let's be real though, if you are focussed on the talent of the guitarist, you are probably not offering the quality of worship God desires...but who am I to judge. The parking is not the best. they share a large parking lot with an extremely busy section of Azusa Ave. The greeter, not fat, is very kind and is always wearing a smile. The church has never had a hire security guy or security force. In fact he is a talented high performance mechanic. The teaching is always good. Always biblically based. They have a section for the kids with a study designed to reach them at their level. This church is reaching out to all parts of the world. They are missions minded. If you are looking for a church that is loving, kind and focussed on something bigger than fund raisers and studies that make you feel good, then this is a great place. One note.... If yelp is full of great reviews and there is one that is just horrible, check the other reviews that person has left. If they leave horrible reviews for each review, take that into account. They might just be unhappy people, or at least, they are impossible to please. read more

The bookstore and offices are still at this location, but our services have moved to a much larger location, more than twice the room. We are sharing the Azusa Nazarene Church (with that congregation) and are located at 5th and Angeleno Avenue in Azusa (just around the corner) Service times have changed, Sunday's at 9:00 am and 6:00 pm and our midweek is now on Thursday's at 7:00 pm. I have attended this church for the past 20 years. I have seen the Lord do mighty things through this ministry such as change lives (my families included), raise up Godly people, and send out missionaries. Things that are only possible through prayer, fasting, the teaching of God's word, and people being led by the Holy Spirit. My former Pastor (now with the Lord), and my current Pastor have always taught us to check what is being taught to the word of God, to look toward the Lord and not to man, as man will always fail us but God will never fail us. My Pastor has a heart of gratitude and servitude and lives to glorify God. Many times he sacrifices his time to help those in need like the time he came to fix a broken pipe in my kitchen, teach us to clean our pool, or to pray before a surgery. I know he has done this for several others also, sometimes in the middle of the night. We are encouraged through his example of portraying the love of Christ in action and for this I am thankful. Why was my original review from August removed? Hmm... Well here it is again......... I recently read a review on this church, on this site, and found it too hard to believe. But, then again, I find most of the extremely bad and extremely good reviews hard to believe. I guess the comment that struck me the hardest was that of a pastor adding to the word of God. The Bible tells us that this is not to be done. The other items that this reviewer noted was an obvious lack of friendliness to the point of saying that there was no love at this church. What, but God is Love. And finally, the unsavory greeting from a para military fat man. Well, I must admit that my curiosity got the best of me so I thought I would check it out. But, I started at their website and found that true to form with other Calvary's they to have the pastor's previous messages available to listen to. Over the course of several days, I listened to 5 or 6 of them and I must say that at no time did I hear any adding to the Word of God. As a matter of fact I noted a heavy concentration on application in his preaching. This is actually admirable, since most main line denominational churches stopped caring about applying the Word long ago. Now the pastor does add allot of personal family examples while delivering his messages and this I found to be unusual. But I guess it must help with making the point clear to other young parents. Next, I went to the church. Yes, it was a bit difficult to find. Perhaps a sign directing people to the rear entrance would help. After all, that is where the other large parking lot is. And of course it could be considered difficult navigating through a one way street down town area by some, I suppose. I must say that I now believe that the comments of that other reviewer could only be described as willfully misleading. I found that this church, while small in physical size, had a worship hall that was full to capacity and not one person showing anything but friendliness and a genuine Christian love. I also saw 4 or 5 "fat" men all very friendly, including the one that greeted me at the door by introducing himself first, then asking for my name. I have gone several times over the past three months and with the exception of perhaps a teaching or two lasting too long, I find this to be a very comfortable fellowship. As a matter of fact, if the Lord was to ever tell me it was time to move on from my own church, perhaps he would lead me hear, or to one very much like it. Now to the other reviewer; there are a few instances of rape in the Bible, but what is unfortunate is that the translators of our Bibles today have simply described this as "laid with her". But if you were to study the context and the words being used you would discover strong descriptions that can only be seen as rape. I would simply suggest that you would "study to show thyself approved" as is stated in 2 Timothy 2:15, before passing on uneducated opinion, and declaring that a church does not teach the Word of God. I will leave that other reviewer with one final note and admonition to you and the former attendees who put you up to this slander (since you referred to them in your article) by simply directing you to Proverbs 6:16-19, with special attention on verse 19. This place should not be affiliated with the calvary chapel name! I used to attend this church with my family and I was very happy with this being my church. I always wondered why they kept the church so small but it's because they wanted to, they are very selective with who they let become apart of their church. The senior pastor who passed away was the only reason we stayed.They are also very hypocritical, one of my family members was told they had to leave the church by the senior pastors son because she was getting divorced, what kind of "christians" would say that? but I later found out that the same senior pastors son, cheated on his wife with his babysitter and ran off with her! The wife of this pastor told my family member she couldn't pray for her because her focus was her own family, I was so disgusted!The same family member was in her car in their parking lot waiting for her friend to get out of church and they told her "What are you doing here?"
