We have had children enrolled in Cornerstone (CCA) for the last 18 years. Until about ten years ago, the school was under the headship of Crossroads Community Church. The school had a healthy "family" feel whether talking with teachers, walking into the office, or strolling through campus. Biblical principles were integrated into the curriculum, and overall, students were respectful and well-behaved both in and out of the classroom. When CCA and Crossroads Community Church opted to part ways, we became acutely aware of a shift in culture as the school walked through ongoing changes in location, staff, and leadership. In our personal experience, the "family feel" and overall healthy culture has steadily degraded over the last several years. Our children have described a decline in the amount of Biblical integration occurring in the classroom and the amount of disrespectful and inappropriate behaviors that they have been exposed to on a daily basis in the classroom caused them to feel very uncomfortable and unsafe. Over the last school year, it became evident that specific threats to student safety, destruction of school property, and severe bullying amongst students seem to be handled internally without the involvement of law enforcement or communication with teachers or parents. In discussions about this, we were advised that threats of violence are pretty commonplace nowadays in the public school arena. My question is - should we not expect more when choosing to have our children educated in a Christ-centered environment? I appreciate the vision of current leadership at CCA. I think that their hearts for children and their desire to serve the Lord are genuine. However, from our family's personal experience, their vision and hope for what CCA should be is not what is being experienced where the "boots hit the ground" in the classroom.

Everyday it was like I was walking him to prison (and he had been in daycares his whole little life, so it was not just separation anxiety). I observed, spied, discussed with his teacher and administrator with no results. Finally I took a chance and moved him to CMS. His first day showed a change in our lives immediately - he was happy and eager to see his new friends (and he did not want to go back)! This year is his "leadership year" as a kindergartener, and I could not be more thankful with how self-confident and joyful he has grown. The lead teachers here Faith, Michelle and Dana, have been wonderful and creative. I see all the fun crafts that the students create that help them learn their letters, numbers, shapes, seasons, phonics etc. I am so pleased with how my son has learned so many different things, both academically and socially. I have even had personal conversations with the teachers about being a new mom and have received heartfelt, godly and wise ideas about raising children. CCS has been a safe, godly haven for me to place my only son while I go to work all day. In addition, I hosted international students and have seen how the teachers work very hard to personally help the students who struggle in their school work. They would contact me and talk to me about my student and when I requested that they address certain issues my student had, they would do it in an encouraging way. I see how the high school teachers go out of their way to make their classes interesting and relevant, yet academically challe.

The director and owner have always been very kind and responsive to whenever I had a question or concern too, and place a lot of importance on the health, safety, and well-being of the kids. We plan to enroll my daughter next year as well, because she doesn't want to leave her beloved teachers and friends!

She absolutely loves her class and says her teacher is the best teacher she has ever had. Of course, I had to share this with the school. Her writing and reading have increased exponentially. She has slightly more homework than her last school, and it requires a parent to be involved in the home learning process. They use classical education versus CORE or Beka, which is far more advanced, demanding, and structured. Grades are broken down into Pre-Grammar, Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric. My daughter is in the pre-grammar stage. Then in 3rd grade she will enter Grammar. 5th, she will enter Logic, and I believe Rhetoric begins in 9th. Grades are broken down into stages. It seems difficult at first, but when you understand how it works, you will marvel. They begin Latin in 3rd and end in 8th I believe. Then they will touch on Greek in high school. They study the classics and will have strong presentation and debate skills by the time they depart for college. This is a K-12 school. The team is always responsive to our requests and needs and always, always puts well well being of kids first. Teachers are valued, respected, and a collaborative part of the leadership team. And, it shows. They're comfortable bring up ideas or concerns, and are greeted with responsiveness. This is the cleanest childcare facility I've ever seen in my life. This is also the only place that I trust my child to go during the pandemic. they already cleaned and sanitized more than any place I've ever seen. Now that's even amplified. Not only does the whole staff love my little boy, and he loves them... Not only have they helped him grow socially and emotionally... Not only does he love going to school everyday... Not only is it's a collaborative team where teachers are actually valued, respected, and listened to... But. I will never forget the night my mother-in-law passed suddenly. Because of the team's responsiveness, I never worried about if I would be able to get ahold of him during a constantly changing situation. It's not only that. I actually felt comfort knowing that I could reach out to them at any point, get a response, and that response would be to fully support my child and my family in any way possible. Incredibly disrespectful to parents and the local community. I mean who equates themself to a Dr and laughs in someone's face over an issue. Community and other parents are your biggest fans or your biggest enemies and it's sure seems like Dana doesn't care about the actual needs of kids or parents in the area.
