It's best to call ahead, as with any salon. However, on each occasion that I've needed a cut, she's been able to squeeze me in without an appointment. I always call ahead to be sure I don't drive over and find myself sitting there for forever because of my poor planning. This time, I called ahead, but I got no answer. Somewhat hilariously, once I got there and she asked me to wait a moment, she called my phone - I didn't realize it was her calling me back, since I don't have the number saved in my phone - and I didn't answer since I was about to get my haircut. So, in the span of about 10 minutes, I called 4 times, sat down in a waiting chair, was called to a salon chair, and got a call back with her letting me know that she missed my call and if I needed anything to just call her back. Phone tag! Anyway, Nancy has been doing hair for years and years and moved here a few years ago to pursue the same, but in her own salon. She's a very sweet lady and she enjoys having a conversation with whomever she is working. However, her accent is extremely thick, so you might have to have her repeat a lot in order to understand what she's saying. The price for my haircut is always $14.00 and I always tip $6.00 to make it an even $20. I've been to places that are a few dollars cheaper, but I also got a new stylist each time I visited, so the results varied. I saw here, that someone else got a dye-job done poorly. I'm sure she would have done what they asked for had she had a picture. My guess is that the individual didn't show her a picture, opting to describe the look instead, and said something like blue highlights or blue streaks. The picture offered here in reference to what she "asked for" is clearly nothing remotely the same, so it's unlikely that the description given was appropriate. Regardless, had the person been up front with her about the result being completely wrong, then shown her a picture, and finally, given her more time- I'm sure the situation would've been remedied. Nancy's good, but she can't read minds and she's got a bit of a language barrier. Make up for that by being as explicit as possible- and ALWAYS bring pictures.

However, please be aware of the time and pricing transparency... I was originally quoted $330 during my consultation, but my final total at the desk was $435. I wasn't made aware at any time that this cost was changing or anything was being added on. I noticed on the end receipt that Olaplex was added in as $50. While I appreciate the care for my hair health, I wasn't consulted about this add-on or extra cost beforehand. Because I didn't have the initial consultation quote in writing from the salon, I didn't feel I could easily dispute the overall cost, and the services were already done as well... but it was a quite shock to be $100+ over the expected price for what I had budgeted. After tip and the credit card fee, the total came to almost $200 more than the initial quotation. Additionally, the service took six hours (2:30 PM to 8:30 PM). I wasn't made aware the time commitment needed and mentally estimated 4/4.5 hours at most for highlights and ends refresh from how my hair appointments typically go (7/8 hours for a full head double process). Melanie was incredibly dedicated; she even stayed past closing to ensure my hair was perfectly blow-dried and didn't rush the process. I just wish the booking came with a time estimate, so I could have planned my evening accordingly since I had dinner plans with friends that I couldn't make on time. I highly recommend Melanie's talent and ability, but I'd suggest confirming the price and duration in writing from consultation and again before starting the actual process.

The salon itself is small…read more(fits three at a time) but clean, and Nancy has always been flexible with us when we make appointments, sometimes slotting us in on the same day. She also does a great job with the haircuts. Above all, the price is unbeatable, and hasn't changed even after all these years. Where else can you get a high-quality haircut for less than $15?
