Let me first state that we are new parents and saw no bad reviews for this center when we searched…read more We are writing this review so it is known and others can have some insight to one experience. We requested care in April and were put on a waitlist until August. With a waitlist, we felt that there were no concerns. During the tour, the director was great. She knew everyone's name, great personality and easy to talk to. Once our child started, we got access to the center's app to see a live feed. The first day was good and I could tell the teachers were trying to interact with my child and feed them. I was not particularly happy with how they woke my child from their nap as they picked them up aggressively and my child immediately cried on the camera. The teachers would say that my child ate their food, but nothing was touched during the camera feed. I understand there are a lot of kids, but the lying is upsetting. If they didn't know I would have rather it said "I don't know" or "none". The teachers did not engage with the children or if they did, it was with one or two of the same children every day. Diaper changes were very infrequent and that was very concerning. After this short experience, we decided to take our child out. Unenrolling was easy and I'm grateful that the center allowed us to withdraw immediately. I received an email survey and noticed someone's name attached. I was not familiar with this person so googled them and 2 lawsuits came up against the center. I will refrain from discussing those on here as they are not mine, but feel it should be known. I also want to mention that I did not mention anything to the director about my concerns, but did talk to a teacher directly about one. That was corrected the next day but then stopped. I hope this gives some insight to the center and allows new / other parents make a decision on their child's care.

Not only are our teachers trained to work with special education students, but the school system also employs two special education coordinators to work with students and teachers on site. We work closely with Dr. Melton, Wachin Kennedy, and Dr. Cato with the Camden County school board. We also have a trained Physician's Assistant/EMT and a school nurse on staff.

She suffered from ADHD and was not being challenged enough with the public schools. We asked repeatedly for her to be tested for the gifted math program. When she moved to ALA in 5th grade, they immediately identified that she needed to be tested. She was placed in Middle school math and excelled. The individual attention each student gets really helped her focus. Most if not all the teachers have experience with special education needs whether is personal or professional. After the first school year at ALA, I moved my other child from Camden Public Schools to ALA. Since Kindergarten (currently in 3rd) I struggled to get them to identify what I immediately saw and to implement a IEP. I ended up having to go outside the system when she was in 1st grade to have her tested because they said it would be another year. I'm glad I did because they wanted to hold her back and of course we fought it since we identified the issue. They attempted to do it in Second but because I identified the lack of service being provided by the county and also having her in GA Cyber Academy for a semester we realized she was better in a smaller setting and one on one which the county could not provide. I moved her to ALA this year and she has caught up and now a straight A student. Her reading and math has improved so much. The proof is in how parents and school works together to help a child succeed. Some may find the way they teach different from traditional public school SPED, but they have taken several continuing education classes on helping the children especially dyslexia which the public system will not accommodate . The learning scale is based on where the student excels or falls below. So they may be in a middle school math but a 3rd grade reading level in the 6th grade. The child would be placed in the math level they excel in and then placed in a group where their reading level is worked on. When the child begins to show improvement they are tested to see if they could handle the current grade level. They use the same testing system as the public school to find the level. Their actual Special Education Teacher Mr. Clark is amazing. He is patience of a saint so to say when it comes to helping.

He is doing so much better with his writing and fine motor skills. He loves counting EVERYTHING now and even his vocabulary and expression/manners have improved. I am beyond grateful to his teachers and all the staff that always show him so much love and care! You guys are truly awesome!

My daughter was only at Step by Step II in Yulee, FL for four days, but this was more than enough…read moretime to see obvious issues regarding the child care in the infant room. One day our daughter was fighting her bottles and we were not once notified. It was not until I called that afternoon to check on her that I even knew they were having issues. Therefore, she had gone 9 hours without food that day and nobody thought to call myself or my husband. Two of the other four days, our daughter was not offered a bottle for over 4.5 hours. In addition to the issues regarding feedings, it is concerning that our daughter's diaper was not changed that frequently. There was one day, for example, where she went 5 hours without a diaper change. Also, after visiting another daycare and reading laws and requirements enforced by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) governing child care facilities, we realized that Step by Step was not abiding by all of the laws and requirements. Step by Step II told us to keep our daughter's pacifier on a pacifier holder which has a string, and Step by Step did not attempt to get our daughter to sleep in her crib to our knowledge. However, per DCF, cords such as the pacifier holder which can encircle a child's neck should not be accessible to children. In addition, children up to one year of age must be in a crib or playpen for napping. My husband asked one of the days if they had tried to get our daughter to sleep in her bed at all, and he was told no. While these were not huge issues to us personally, it is concerning that Step by Step II would disregard these requirements. In addition, not once were we asked for immunization records or a physical. I am not sure if the daycare even cared whether or not our child had her shots, which is also concerning. Overall, we had a really unfortunate experience with Step by Step II. If we had known about these issues before enrolling her, we would not have sent her there. However, it all worked out in the end because our daughter is now going to a daycare we are really happy with.

He mixed it up with watching the fvideo then practice then back to video then back to the technical part. I highly recommend this class and is not as boring as trying to do the online portion then having to go in anyway for the technical part! There was AED training as well. I went from not knowing anything to feeling confident I can help save someone I passed with a great score thanks to the great teaching.and it had been over 6 years since I took it and I had forgotten it all but this time I know more than I ever did to help save a life! I will take it again from this instructor in 2 years!!

Quaint Southern Charm meets laid back coastal in this little town! Oh & the views~ along the waterfront, they have the loveliest of parks! I also strolled the local cemetery- old gravestones fascinate me! You can walk the whole historic area with no problem- plenty of street parking and more than enough to do for a lovely day trip or for a weekend get away! Coastal areas- especially Cumberland Island is part of the National Parks Seashore! This is a place I will be sure to come back to!

A friend of mine lives in St Mary's and I dog say for her for 12 days. I live in Jax so I decided…read moreto treat it as a stay-cation! We were within walking distance from the historic district. Every day I tried to do something new and go on some small "adventure". One of the first places I went was Crooked River State Park-just a short ride from historic St Marys. The waterfront was nice but a very small area. I'm used to having access to the water so it was sad to just have to observe it from yards away. There were several small piers in the area and it was nice to walk on them but again, the area was so small in 20 minutes you'd be finished with them all. There is some interesting history in St Marys and it was fun to explore that. I was disappointed by the amount of family owned restaurants in the area. I imagine it's difficult to keep a small business open in an area that doesn't seem to have a lot of people nearby. The main options close to the historic district (aside from a few restaurants near the waterway) are Wendy's, Taco Bell or Domino's. One thing I'd like to see in St Marys is all the golf cart drivers following the street signs and lights. Golf carts are crawling around the place like ants! It's cute at first but it's annoying when golf carts dart out in front of you and don't stop at stop signs-and I guess expect you to stop so you don't hit them. I'd like to see state laws surrounding motor vehicles enforced. I also went to part of Okefenokee for a couple hours. It's less than an hour from St Marys. I recommend this part but if you go this time of year be prepared for S N A K E S and mosquitoes! I saw a rattlesnake and flipped out! Anyway back to my review... St Marys would be a cute place to stay for a weekend but unless you're prepared to drive at least an hour either north or south you'll be bored once you've exhausted exploring the historic area, which won't take that long. Be careful of golf carts darting all around!
