I had the same exact experience this year that everyone else posting did . I have been going there for years and with the tip it has been 228 dollars but like 190 before , This year you had to pay 160 when booking and the next price was 190 or180 I can't remember for the smallest package you could buy. The price almost doubled just all the sudden. And the store manager that was there was rude , she was super irritated that I was frustrated. Told me the only way I paid that price the past few years is with coupons cause it hasn't been that low In 10 years. Which is just wrong. And the printer is still broken and I was told the pictures would be done last sat . Haven't heard anything yet , I even called and left a message and they never called back . I brought my first baby here for newborn photos in 2023 and paid a flat fee of $160, which included the emailed digital photos. When I returned in 2025, I was charged a $160 "booking fee," but it was not clearly disclosed that there would be an additional cost just to receive the photos--even if you only want digital copies emailed to you. I was told this had "always" been their policy, which is simply not true based on my experience with my first child. To have the photos emailed to me, I had to pay an additional $170, bringing the total to $330. They also refused to send the photos until I returned two hours later for an in-person viewing, where I felt pressured to purchase an extremely expensive printed package (over $900). I made it clear multiple times that I did not want prints and only wanted digital images. After wasting most of my day, I finally received the photos--but only after signing a form stating that I did not want printed photos and would not "change my mind" later. Overall, the pricing felt misleading and the process unnecessarily time-consuming. Save your money and the hassle and hire a professional photographer to come to your home--it will likely be cheaper and far less hassle. read more

We've been Camera Shy customers for nearly 9 years but I will not spend another dime supporting this company. This does not reflect the talent of our photographer but rather their business practices. Not only have their prices doubled, but you are forced to buy a print packages if you want any digital access to your photos. When we asked for digital only package, we were informed that they have "changed the focus of the studio to printed photos". So we selected our package and waited for our prints. We were then informed that the printer at the Gardner Village location could not print our largest print and we would have to drive to a separate location to actually pick it up. We now live out of state and scheduled this appointment during a visit to see family in Utah. So driving to a separate location was an inconvenience that took time out of any already packed schedule. We did make it to the South Towne location the next day, again waited for printing, then given photos wrapped in brown paper. This would not work to travel by airplane across the country. They no longer have cardboard tubes to transport photos, even though they've "changed the focus of the studio to printed photos". I said they would have to ship them to me in an appropriate container. After calling a manager, they magically found one last tube for my photos. They were handed to me already rolled in the tube and I should have pulled them out to check. Unfortunately, I did not. After arriving home, I opened the tube to frame and hang my new photos. One of the five prints had a complete absence of ink right down the middle of my daughter's face. Good thing they've "changed the focus of the studio to printed photos". It took over 15 phone calls (they've never once returned any of my messages) and SIX WEEKS from the time of our shoot to receive the replacement photo in the mail. It has now arrived in an inappropriate package and was crushed in transport. I'm so done. Their lack of care in providing a good service for a fee is astonishing. We will never go again and will never recommend this studio. read more

I scheduled an appointment for senior pictures. The appointment was for an hour and the photographer only took 30 minutes of pictures. When we came back to view the pictures I was very disappointed. The glare on my daughter's glasses is terrible. The picture are unusable. I was told there is no redos or refunds. I've tried contacting the manager with no response. We finally had the chance to visit Camera shy after seeing so many friends photos. We did our family photos and my sons second birthday photos. The girl who did them was amazing, she was so playful and fun and was able to get my boy to smile. She had great photo ideas, using our props and even some they had. She even made sure that my hair looked good which was fantastic! made my hair look long which is always a good thing lol They did the editing so fast, we literally went to lunch and came back to pick up a USB with all our photos. I was so disappointed in this experience. I set it up online thinking it was a school pic special that had been advertised. No where did it say it was for one location ONLY. I brought my two kids. So we get there and the only there girl didn't seem like she wanted to do this. So, we go back she (I kid you not!) Took 2 pictures of my kids and asked, are we done did you want anything else? Literally 10 min went by!! I had to pull my phone out and look through pinterest to find poses to get of my kids!! Non of which where the school related, skip the generic at school pics I wanted. After hunting down my own poses because she had no ideas. Like I was her very first clients ever!! We left came back for the edited pics to buy. That I myself choreographed. We came back to the photographer in a frantic mess. I get her being stressed with so many clients (there was another person ahead of us that had been waiting since noon. It was after 4pm at this point.) Their prints got messed up it was a huge mess. I blame this on management. If they where that understaffed, they should have been there to help. We waited and waited. The photos where not edited. Someone else finally showed up. Rushed through our photo edit and quickly had us pick. I felt so rushed. And gave us 2 prints $10 worth. I spent $110! I will definitely look elsewhere for our fall photos we are doing this month. read more

I'm so happy we decided to come here- the photographer was amazing with our sometimes cranky newborn and was so good with our older child too. Great results with our babies pictures, creative shots, and great options for scenery

I went to camera shy in daybreak last year for santa minis. The photographers did such a great job and the pictures were absolutely magical. Naturally, I booked again this year hoping for the same magic. The photographer at this location did not move from his initial spot squatted on the floor. Didn't say anything as he snapped pictures. I have 1 or 2 usable pictures. Not even good pictures just usable. 4 pictures of the back of of one of my kid's head. I would've gotten better pictures going to the mall for a quarter of the price. Save your money! I went to camera shy on a recommendation from a friend and got newborn/family pictures done. With the whole COVID situation going on, I was very weary of bringing my newborn out so I called to see what they are doing to keep things clean and safe. I planned on using their swaddles which is why I was so nervous about things being clean.I was told on two separate occasions that they wash/clean in-between each session. Not only were the swaddles visibly dirty that we used, but all of the props (beanbags, blankets) the photographer just dragged all around the floor and there was dust balls everywhere so clearly they aren't cleaning often. I called the next day to voice my concern and the lady I spoke with told me that they spray a 'disinfectant' on their stuff and then wash everything once a week. COVID or not, they should definitely be washing their stuff more than once a week especially when it comes to NEWBORNS, and also why would you want to expose a brand new baby to "disinfectants" that doesn't sound safe. Now the pictures. It looked like the photographer just threw a filter on them which I could've done myself. They return the pictures within an hour of your session and apparently they don't have the capabilities to fix a blemish (which I can easily do on my phone). I was also told that my photographer was in a rush and forgot to edit some of my photos, talk about quality service! read more

We used to quite enjoy this place for our family photos; however,our last visit was nothing short of a random guy taking pictures of our children. There was little direction. The photographer had zero experience swaddling babies. And really didn't make us as comfortable as we felt with female photographers there who had experience with children. We were not pleased with our photos at all. My advise to anyone coming here. See how they act with your kids, it makes all the difference. Also, if they don't perform, they won't give you a refund. We went to get pictures of the grandkids for Mother's Day. I'm very disappointed in the whole experience. The photographer was nice enough, but just wasn't what we were wanting. They missed a lot of candid opportunities, which I was sad about. And none of the posed pictures turned out that great either. When you spend that much money on something, you hope that you get your money's worth. Not this time!! AND I have emailed them 2 TIMES to tell them know how disappointed I was. This was our second time having a photo session at this Camera Shy location. It's fairly small, but they make the space work. We were doing family pictures as well as individual shots of our kids. The photographer greeted us when we arrived and started promptly when we were scheduled to start. I appreciated that she listened carefully when I explained what I wanted--and didn't want! Our toddler was an absolute BEAST for most of the 45 minutes and they just rolled with it. Another photographer stepped in to try and help focus the kids on bubbles and toys and it all worked out. My only suggestion would be for them to take EVEN MORE POSES. We asked for one of the family shots--since the kids were interested in sitting at the window--and that ended up giving us a 3rd option to work with. Had I not asked would we only have had the 2? No idea. But they are great at responding with any suggestions you do make so speak up! Overall I'm glad we got some cute photos and I appreciate working with this location. I just had the absolute worst customer service experience at this camera shy location of my entire life. If you are contemplating using this location DO NOT! It was as beyond awful, beyond ridiculous. The photographer and management were condescending, unbending, and did absolutely nothing to accommodate for their mistakes in booking our session. The communication during the booking process was unclear and confusing, and when we arrived with a party of 17 including 7 small children, and three babies under 18 months, they made absolutely no effort to own their mistake or correct it for that matter: they would not allow us to use an empty studio that was sitting there because it was booked in 45 minutes in the future, they would not adjust their schedule or be even slightly accommodating. Instead we had to go outside with babies who had no coats and weren't properly dressed for a December outdoor photo shoot. They were also rude to us making us feel like the idiots for poor communication on their part. I feel so angry and would steer anyone clear of giving this studio their business. The management and employees of this studio know nothing about putting the customer first or problem solving and making a compromise in a difficult situation. All they did was make excuses and threats to their paying customers. I will never visit again. read more

Don't waste your time or money here. We called ahead and told them what we wanted multiple times to confirm that it would be alright and they said they could accommodate us. Yet, when we arrived they fought us and made us do it their way after telling us we could have the time that we actually paid for. We paid for two hours and they rushed us through in one, leaving us stressed, disheveled, and unsatisfied. Whitney was our photographer. She was condescending, rude, and wouldn't take the pictures we wanted. We asked for a chair, she said it would look weird and awkward. She had my daughter sitting on the floor in every picture, unless I specifically told her to have her standing, and even then, she shot the picture half body. She was no help whatsoever when it came to choosing the pictures for prints either. She made the whole situation more stressful than it should have been and in the end, I didn't get the pictures that I wanted of my little girl. I will not be returning here and I advise everyone to go elsewhere. read more

Our pictures turned out good. However I just wanted to comment on a few things. First they called to change our time a few hours before the shoot. Then on arriving they tell us they aren't actually able to take our pictures inside because of the size of our group (only 6 kids) And is costs 30 dollars more to do it outside which added a lot onto what we were told the price was. Then after the photos are taken they tell us editing will take 1 hour and said we can come back another day or wait. So we walked around for an hour, and then we get another call that says it will be another almost hour until they are done. .once we came back to look at the pictures we felt very good about them so we bought them. Then it took another 30 minutes just to print the pictures we purchased. Now I know the staff doesn't plan to fall behind, but this was not just 1 thing that we had to shrug off. The whole visit seemed unprofessional and makes me think that there needs to be better planning and communication. Especially when you are spending that much money. read more

We go to camera shy 2x a year every birthday and every Christmas.! I loved them it's been 6 years.!!! This year we went to Gardner village and I was told Monday when I scheduled Saturday at 330 I called to find out cost, and come to find out I wasn't even put on the schedule.!!!! So we rescheduled I was told 158$ for an HOUR to wear a mask so we did.! The photographer decided he was done after 30 minutes when I asked what we would be charged it was still 158$! He said he goes by poses not by the hour!!! I was told an hour it's always been an hour for 6 years and 2 visits a year ALWAYS an hour and all the images, he offered to do longer but I wouldn't get all the images.! He said I'll have the pictures to you in an hour here it is 2 hours later and the place is closed so I can't call to see when I'll get them.! I had to pay before I got to see them which I get corona caused it but I ALWAYS get them on a USB I always pay EXTRA for it and he said I couldn't do it that way.! This was by far the worse experience I have had with camera shy and probably won't be going back.! read more
