Great experience at Cameron Trading Post Restaurant during our last night in Arizona! We originally stopped because there's a Shell gas station right next door and we needed gas, but once we looked over and saw the restaurant, we checked Yelp, saw the great reviews and photos, and decided to give it a try. So glad we did! After several days of driving, hiking, and kayaking, it was really nice to finally sit down and enjoy a relaxing dinner. There's also a Native shop attached to the restaurant, which was fun to browse through before eating. The restaurant itself is toward the back, and the restrooms are conveniently located nearby, so I was able to freshen up and change before dinner after being outdoors all day. I ordered the deluxe cheeseburger combo, which totally hit the spot, while my friend got the beef stew with Native fry bread. I'll admit, I was a little jealous when I saw her dish because it looked so warm and comforting after the chilly weather and all the kayaking and hiking we had done earlier that day! Thankfully she let me try the fry bread, and it was delicious. The atmosphere was welcoming, the food was great, and it ended up being the perfect way to wrap up our Arizona trip. Definitely recommend stopping here to fill up on gas and grab a good sit-down meal while passing through!
Cameron Trading Post, perched above the Little Colorado River on Highway 89 is our favorite place to bring newcomers to the Colorado Plateau region. Interesting things stand the test of time here. I've been told boys born around 1920 used a Spanish armor breastplate to slide on village dunes. In Old Oraibi, beans and bean stems in a pot placed in an underground storage area and forgotten, carbon dated at Northern Arizona University to about 800 CE/AD. Cameron Trading Post and the first bridge across the Little Colorado are in that swirl of time. Stone architecture from 1916 or earlier, stands solidly in place. Most indoor areas are modernized. Some dining room decorations date to the early years. The pressed tin ceilings were common in my grandparent's world - and rusted away long ago in most of the USA. The main trading post has everything from old, valuable, regional items, to gleaming eye-grabbers from China luring toddlers and youngsters into tantrums. There are also food and other useful items for everyday life, like hanks of wool yarn, etc. The restaurant has excellent, regionally based dishes for your dining appreciation, wspecially the giant, hefty, Navajo Taco. There's a hotel here. A woman I knew, losing her hundred years alive to COVID in 2021, worked in the hotel as a teenager. Gas Station, apparently an RV Park, another great shop full of antique Southwest treasures are on the grounds. This is an exceptional stop on the Colorado Plateau.
04/16/26 Definitely worth the stop. The employees are friendly and the food is fantastic. While we were visiting the area, my husband wanted to try frybread. The Warrior Surprise did not disappoint. The frybread was huge, soft, and fluffy. The taco toppings on top were delicious and the egg on top was cooked perfectly. The prickly pear stuffed french toast was a delight and had just the right amount of sweetness. The french toast was accompanied by regular syrup and prickly pear syrup. The two items were a flawless pair of savory and sweet and we shared both items.
Wednesday, 4/01/2026 - We tried this Cameron Fine Dining Parlor in this Cameron Trading Post place. Address is 466 N Hwy 89, Cameron, AZ 86020. This is a store with bathrooms, a restaurant inside, small section selling snacks, jewelry, clothing, pottery, toys, nicknacks, etc. We went to try the restaurant. Parking outside is plenty. But... the foods were NOT good. Very bland, dry, & over cooked.. The Navajo Taco wasn't bad tho. But everyone at our table did not like their dishes. We just ate it because we bought it. None of us were very impressed. But the server was nice. Water tasted great. No funky or metal taste to water or ice. Service is on the slow side. It didn't look to packed inside. But it took them like 10 to 15 minutes to seat us. It took them quite a while to bring us our tab. I think maybe they are short staffed. I don't know. But our server, Keneah, was very nice and professional. If you're very hungry, stop by here to grab something to eat. Besides that, i don't think we'll ever return to eat at this place. But we may stop by to buy nicknacks. Try the restaurant for yourself and determine. None of us liked it very much.
We were driving to Colorado and found Cameron Trading Post on Yelp. We decided to pop in for lunch. There is a lot to do in this little center including the art shop, hotel, post office, gift shop and restaurant. From the moment we walked in to the gift shop, we were greeted by the friendliest staff. Everyone said hello and welcome. We walked through to the restaurant and were sat immediately. Our server was Brenda and she was so pleasant and attentive! I recommend asking to sit in her section if you decide to dine. We ordered the Navajo taco and Green chili soup which came with a piece of fry bread. All three were good but needed a little more seasoning. I added salt and it was very good. I would recommend sharing the Navajo taco. It was huge and I felt bad not finishing it! The soup was the perfect size. After lunch we walked through the gift shop. Endless isles of beautiful Navajo rugs, baskets, Kachinas, jewelry, clothing, hats, trinkets and art. You could spend hours exploring the gift shop. I definitely recommend stopping here if looking for a day trip from the Phoenix area or passing through.
We visited Cameron Trading Post for our first meal in the Navajo Nation after hearing about the amazing frybread they serve at the restaurant. The dining room here is absolutely huge. It's probably the size of a banquet hall, yet wasn't crowded at all when we walked in at 5:30PM on a Sunday. I have no idea if they ever actual fill up this cavernous space! Navajo Taco ($14.99) - The frybread base is fried well, giving a slightly crisp and crusty outer shell. The interior is leavened well, making it somewhat bready, although with plenty of air bubbles creating lightness and a puffy quality. It's quite a large piece, measuring at probably 8 inch in diameter and it tastes a bit alkaline. It's topped first with a mixture of chili beans and ground beef, both of which are tender. The ground beef isn't consistent in size, with some chunks larger, almost like mini meatballs, and some smaller. The beef doesn't have any charring at all, so I'm thinking it was perhaps boiled. It tastes like it has minced onion mixed in. Neither the beef nor the beans are seasoned much at all, leaving them very bland in taste overall, but there's a tiny bit of heat that whets the appetite. Both are served in a bit of liquid that soaks into the frybread underneath. On top, they load up plenty of shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, chopped tomato, and green chile. All are relatively bland ingredients and left unsalted, even the chile somehow (which also has zero spice). It all makes for a meal that's quite bland* and unappetizing. Luckily they have a cup of fresh salsa on the side that adds some additional flavor. It's made in house, using fresh tomatoes that are quite acidic, salted well, and has a bit of a pleasant smoky element. (3/5) Beef Stew ($11.85) - The waitress highly recommended this dish. This is simple and clean comfort food. The stew includes chunks of beef, not cubed, but pieces that seem to be random boiled off cuts. They are a bit tough but not bad. There's then tender russet potatoes, carrots, celery, and onion, clearly all chopped in house due to the rather haphazardly cut pieces. There's not too much clear broth included, but it's seasoned pretty well, not too salty, with plenty of vegetable and savory flavors. It's a simple homestyle stew with clean flavors. Good stuff. This also comes with a whole piece of frybread and two packets of honey. (4/5) Cameron Trading Post gives a lot of food. We ended up finishing the taco and the stew, but left most of the frybread to pack up for later. The food is certainly much more affordable than the places in Tusayan on the other entrance to the Grand Canyon! And it was a great introduction to the cuisine of the area. Bathrooms - Not in the restaurant itself, but plenty around in the general store area. *Note: after eating my way through the Navajo Nation over the following week, I discovered that most of their food is very undersalted. They instead rely on the natural flavors of the ingredients only. It's an interesting aspect of their cooking, one that goes against pretty much all other cuisines I've tried.
Definitely an interesting place to stop by A huge gift shop with lots to offer. Which I think alone is worth a stop They had quite a lot on the menu. I went for the Navajo taco. It was okay. Lacked flavor for me and could have been warmer upon arrival. The fry bread was delicious tho. My bf got the fry burger and he really enjoyed that, it was pretty tasty. Coming from New Mexico I got their sopapilla. It was pretty good but not the same as NM. Prices are very good for the size of the meal. There was a line when we arrived but it moved very quickly. Lots of seating, and looks like there might be some good views by the windows. Restrooms are very clean. Service was average. Felt a bit slow for food. The servers weren't exactly warm but when addressed when I mentioned something was forgotten they were very kind and patient. Would I stop again? Hmmm maybe? Would I recommend you go? Hmm, def for the store to get a souvenir but perhaps you wouldn't miss too much on the food
Stopped by here on our way to Sedona and found ourselves enjoying lunch at the restaurant inside of this trading post. The navajo taco and beef stew were delicious. Food service was great. The restaurant staff were friendly and attentive. Food here are affordable. The decorations are beautiful. The place overall is clean. Restrooms for customers are clean and well maintained. There are plenty of parking. Highly recommended.
What a beautiful place to stop for a great meal. We had to try some Fry Bread, it was excellent, Avacado Toast was great! Ambiance is SUPER. CS left a little to be desired, we asked for a table by the windows with a view, we were denied even thou they were all empty?? Our Server was excellent, and very attentive. Service is phenomenal.
Loved the variety of authentic arts and crafts, jewelry too. Also a beautiful restaurant with a spectacular view! It is definitely worth the stop.
Stopped here after a long day of hiking, and I couldn't help but feel like I'd been transported back to the 1940s. The place has an old Western vibe that sets the tone for some classic local cuisine. Of course, we had to try the Navajo taco -- it's huge and definitely enough to share between 2-3 people. I loved the crispy edges of the fry bread, and if the meat and beans had just a bit more flavor, it would've been a total hit. We also tried the prickly pear wings, which had a nice kick of heat. I just wish they had been a bit crispier for that perfect bite. Bonus: You can grab some souvenirs and snacks for the road on your way out. A fun little stop with a lot of character.
Fun stuff in the main trading post (some authentic, some not so much), and super fascinating history to be learned in the more exclusive store adjacent. Originally native art, ceremonial outfits, stunning jewelry - a lot waaaaay beyond my price point but the window shopping was excellent. The best part? The gardens. The landscaping and grounds are an oasis that I could have stayed in all day!!!
I went here on a tour from Sedona to the Grand Canyon. We were able to get some great local artwork and souvenirs for family and friends. We ended with lunch at their restaurant and so glad we did. The portions are huge! We had the fried bread which was fluffy and delish. I could only eat half of it. We left full and satisfied.
Very touristy, but in a good way. Lots of shopping, souvenirs, restaurant and munchies! We ordered a Navajo Taco, Navajo Burger and shared a Prickly Pear milk shake. The service was good and fast! Although we were sat in the middle of the dining room, we could still see out the windows at the beautiful red rock landscape. We were hesitant to stop but will stop every time we are in the area now. read more

Be prepared for a little bit of a wait! Service is a little slow, so chillax and enjoy the view. While the service was slow and the food was decent, the views and the location itself are stunning! Beautiful scenery and magical gardens surround this place. It would be a fun place for an overnight! As for food? The frybread is an absolute MUST order. Even if it's just a side order. The prickly pear milkshake is a legit prickly pear milkshake, not a fake syrup addition to creamy ice cream. We started with a combo appetizer and selected the prickly pair, hot wings, Cameron, potato skins, and the pull apart bread. Everything was good. I just wish the pull of bread had the cheese melted all the way through. It was cold in the middle. The green chilli stew is yummy (maybe add a pinch of salt). Our group also shared a traditional dry bread with chili and toppings, add on salsa! The fry bread French dip was a thumbs up. While the gravy on the Navajo Hot Beef was DELICIOUS, the meat was a little tough by eating it "like a pizza" worked like a charm. If I came again, I'd order prickly pear wings, a side fry bread (with their ranch which was amazing), and a prickly pear milkshake! read more
Came here on a tour. Otherwise, I wouldn't have gone to this place. The entire place was unique as it is a hotel, restaurant, and a store with various items inside ranging from authentic Native American items such as rugs, souvenirs, I was able to check out the store, and there's a weaver inside who makes the rugs and blankets. In the back, there is a restaurant with American and Navajo food. I ordered the Navajo Beef Stew, which came with fry bread. It was so delicious that I finished it right away. The fry bread came with honey, and that was a great combination. I tried a little bit of the Navajo taco, and that was great, too. It had the toppings of a regular taco. However, it came on a fry bread. The fry bread has a different texture like a zeppole. I really suggest this place to visit. read more
It was such a drive to get here. We stayed at Navajoland Hotel, which is one of the few options out here in this neck of the desert. The food, cleanliness and speed of service at Navajoland were far from terrific; plus, we were staying for a few days and felt we had been there and done that. So we ventured on the road in search of other options. Yelp and Google were not accurate. The mom and pop food stands and food trucks on those maps were nowhere to be seen. We were visiting during peak spring break season (hotels were sold out), so it was odd. Perhaps they all went under from lack of customers during Covid. There really were not other dining options. This trading post was over an hours' drive round trip. We walked to the dining room and see a dozen people lined up waiting to be seated. Others who came about when we showed up ended up leaving. The ballroom size dining room had a lot of people seated. Had they been served? We wondered if we made a huge mistake of having trekked so far out with hungry young kids in tow only to arrive at hours long wait times. There is no food for miles. With no other viable option, we stuck around. When a new hostess showed up to work (where was she? why wasn't someone working the prior shift?), she had good work ethic. She walked as fast as she could and seated most everyone. Not the most efficient in decision making but such a hard worker. Ok. We had seats. We next worried that the kitchen would be backed up with the herd that just came in. But that turned out ok, too. The servers came by within a reasonable period of time to take orders. Most the menu and what we ordered was either pre-made for assembly only or easy to fix. The kitchen was fast. - Indian fry bread taco (cold toppings, be aware) - French dip - burgers - fries The server bringing food out were fast. She carted a 3 layer cart and delivered food to multiple tables along a route. We got our food. I was sad to see our food was on the bottom shelf of the cart, next to the floor, the cart wheels and her feet. :/ I imagined the dust kicked up from her and other feet landing on the food. How often do they vacuum? But starving beggars can't be choosers. We ate. Relative to Navajoland, the food was tastier, service was faster and prices were about the same. This seemed like a restaurant. Where Navajoland felt like eating at a friend's aunt's house where you fake smile at the slow teenage servers and suck it up as auntie isn't a pro in the food industry. If not for the missing hostess and the food being near the ground, this place has a higher sense of order. If we come back to this part of the country, we would stay and eat at the trading post. read more
Fun rest stop for the whole family as we traveled from Antelope Canyon to Sedona. Beautiful, historic trading post with a solid option of indigenous-made gifts. The dining area had a roaring fire and plenty of seating. There was something on the menu for everyone, we had to try the famous Navajo taco and prickly pear milkshake. Highly recommend Cameron Trading Post if you're looking for authentic Hopi and Navajo jewelry, rugs, pottery, and art. The restaurant is also great - delicious and affordable food in a spectacular setting. The service staff throughout are knowledgeable and friendly. I congratulate management. read more

My family was in Arizona for a family vacation and we stopped at Cameron Trading Post along the way from Page to Flagstaff. I loved how big the place was and how much art and decor there is in the restaurant. We were seated almost immediately, but the staff seemed a bit rushed and not super helpful. We came a bit after peak lunch hour but they still seemed very busy and when we asked if we could sit by the window to take in the view, we were told it was only for parties of 5 or more which seemed odd. Our family tried the Navajo Taco, the special which was a Turkey wrap in dry bread, prickly pear bbq chicken, and the chicken wrap. The Navajo taco was super interesting to try and we loved the fry bread!! I really liked my turkey wrap special and the dry bread was unique. I also loved the potato salad on the side as well. The prickly pear bbq chicken was ok, and the chicken wrap was pretty good. For dessert, we got the Sopapilla which was fry bread pieces with powdered sugar and honey on top. It was absolutely delicious, but I think I would've tried the Highway 98 Landslide instead which comes with ice cream! Overall, pretty decent spot and great store to check out afterwards. read more

The Indian Tacos are massive . Only need one and you're stuffed. I recommend you also taking fry bread to go as that is an option. The flavor was amazing and there is spectacular views in the dining area and a gift shop . read more

We've stopped here a couple of times now, but this is the first time we've eaten in the restaurant. It's a huge dining room with this amazing huge roaring fireplace. It was a great wintery vibe before heading back to warm, sunny Tucson. We shared an Indian taco because they're huge! We also split chips and salsa - they use their hot in house jarred salsa, which was pretty good! We love to have an Indian taco when in the area, and this one was loaded! Service was good as well. It's also a great stop in the middle of nowhere to use the restroom, stretch your legs, and look at lots of Native America crafts and gifts. There so much to catch your eye here! You can't drive right by this place! read more

Eating here makes you feel like you are really eating in the American West. Lovely dining room with gorgeous original Navajo art works all around, a fire place and beautiful views from the windows. I had the Navajo Taco. My bar is set pretty high because I have a good Navajo friend who makes me excellent, from scratch tacos frequently. But this taco did not disappoint. It was huge and delicious. The fry bread was just perfect. Service was good too. I was so glad we had time to eat here. I will be back next time we pass through. read more

Visiting from Virginia and tried out this spot along the way to visit Antelope Canyon. I loved the view of the restaurant and that it's inside a market. Our servers were also very nice and the decor was traditional -- which I loved. The food was okay. I tried the Navajo Taco and I really wish it came with chicken or something. It really lacked flavor and some seasoning would've taken it a long way. The fry bread was really good though! I'd try a different dish next time, but I'd definitely come back to visit. read more
This was a recommendation from one of the front desk associates at our hotel when we mentioned we were headed to the Grand Canyon this weekend. We ended up being hungry right around the time we were near here, so decided to stop in. The trading post is beautiful, with lots of stunning handmade crafts. The smells from the restaurant were enticing so we were looking forward to trying it out. That being said, my meal unfortunately didn't live up to expectations. I had the Navajo taco and was really excited about trying it, but found it to be very bland. There was no spiciness (or even much seasoning)- and while I did like the concept of the dish (having never tried it before) I thought the execution was lackluster. My son had a bacon cheeseburger and he actually really enjoyed it- and his fries were perfectly cooked. I didn't take leftovers because I couldn't imagine the fry bread on the taco standing up well to the wet beans/meat and not getting soggy over time. They are charging almost $5 a pop for sodas, which is absurd to me. I told my son to go ahead and try a milkshake instead since they were only a dollar more. He did *really* enjoy the prickly pear milkshake and it seems like a unique menu item which is always fun to find. To me it tasted both sweet and earthy- with almost a veggie-like flavor. Service was just ok. The waitress was not rude, but was a bit abrupt- and she never checked on our meal/food/whether we needed anything else until we were finished eating. If I was back in the area, I'd skip this in favor of trying something new/different. read more
We stopped in here on our way to Monument Valley . I had been hearing that the food here was very good and the fry bread was phenomenal so this time with some friends in tow we didn't decide to make the stop for lunch. The fry bread did not disappoint the Navajo tacos or delicious huge The service was excellent, our server graciously split a taco and another dish so that we could try more things. The Arnold Palmer was delightful. Not too sweet. The chili was a little bland but still tasty. read more
We were in AZ for a concert and decided to visit the Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon on the same trip. We took the Pink Adventure Tour, which was highly recommended by us to save time and hassle, to our destinations. On the way back to Sedona, we stopped by Cameron Trading Post to get the local famous Navajo taco. The restaurant was inside the gift shop and it offered a four-page menu from Novajo taco, burgers, all the way to roast beef dinner. Since we were on a tour van, we just got the Navajo taco and Navajo beef stew. The taco was as big as the size of our face and served on a fry bread. It was pretty bland for us but definitely filled up our stomach. The beef stew on the other hand had a lot of flavors but small in portion. It did come with a fry bread so we were super full after both taco and beef stew. Overall experience was ok. The cashier wasn't very excited to see us, but friendly enough to take our money. We would say though, if you ever pass by Cameron Trading Post, get the food there so you dont have to deal with Burger King in the same area. read more

Traveling to Flagstaff and running way behind and very tired. Stopped for fuel in Cameron and asked if there was a hotel nearby. He told me there was only one choice and it was a trading post about a mile back down the road from the way I came. I was too tired to drive all the way to Flagstaff so I thought well any port in a storm. I am so glad we came back and stayed here. Places very is absolutely fantastic. Room was very clean comfortable very nice. Food was wonderful. Lots of nice shopping outstanding view. Beautiful little courtyard. Very reasonable prices. Service is outstanding. Special thanks to the security guard who checked us in after closing time guided us to our room. He was super good. Definitely a wonderful place to stay on your trip. read more

I was looking forward to this fry bread meal my entire trip to Arizona, and I did not disappoint. I ordered a Navajo taco, which comes on fry bread. The Navajo fry bread was airy and soft but held up well under the weight of the need, beans, tomatoes, shredded cheese, and guacamole. On top we're Hatch green chiles. The portion size is so big I couldn't eat it all and took my leftovers home for a late night snack. I always enjoy coming to the trading post for their fry bread, and would highly recommend it to anyone. read more
Meh, it was ok. Food was alright, but definitely a bit interesting. The restaurant is in the back of the store front and overlooks onto a beautiful red rocky canyon area. The restaurant itself is very large. It's a good and interesting spot to stop on a road trip, but nothing special. read more

We stopped at the Cameron Trading Post as part of a tour. The gift shop was extensive and full of authentic Native American items like clothes, art, food items and much more. The food at the restaurant was good, not great. Many dishes like fry bread are Native American staples. It was great to see and taste the foods they ate long ago. Fry bread was plain on its own, but dip it in the honey they give you and its amazing! CTP is awesome and definitely worth a visit. read more

A stop while taking the Grand Canyon tour with pink Jeep. I'm so glad they brought us here. Of course we tried the dry bread just like they recommended. It was really tasty. Their food smelled yummy while we waited. We had time to use the restroom and shop some goods. We bought an ornament and a few other goodies that were locally made... not from china. The staff were so helpful and kind. A great spot to stop! read more

This is a great stop in the middle of nowhere- amazing food and fun shopping. Over 10yrs back, I've stayed here during an impromptu road trip and the rooms were clean and very quaint. On a more recent visit, we were a large group of 10 people but the dining room is big and spacious, with interesting artwork adorning the walls. The menu offers something for everyone but the Fry Bread is a must try! Most items like the tacos or burger have Fry Bread instead of the traditional tortilla or hamburger buns. Be warned though- portions are huge and fry bread does fill you up fast, so sharing might be a good idea. The kiddos in the group ordered some chocolate and strawberry milkshakes - they were absolutely delicious, and definitely reminded me of my childhood. Service is prompt and friendly. The gift shop is filled with cute fun trinkets and curios. Masks are still required everywhere except the dining room. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained with a 5person at a time limit. read more

Stopped by here on a tour to the Grand Canyon. In the dining room, which is 'through the gift shop,' ordered the Navajo Taco, a taco on top of the famous fry bread I had been hearing about. It was huge, but there was no 1/2 portion or smaller portion available. Not that it was expensive, but rather that the portion was giant, and I had no way to preserve any leftovers. Everyone at my table left a ton of food wasted on our plates. The fry bread was tasty, and I love eating the taco this way, with a fork and knife. We sat at round tables that seated four, in a giant dining room (that resembled a living room to me), with paintings everywhere and windows that looked out over rocks and canyons. The waitress was nice. The gift shop seemed twice as large as the dining area. It was kind of overwhelming, with plenty of products that were NOT made by Native Americans, but made in other countries. You have to look carefully to find locally made items. I ended up purchasing small, locally-made dreamcatchers for my kids, some cool rocks from South America, and a handful of other items that fit my budget. I tried to get a practical item here, but they did not carry dramamine. If there were signs telling me what to bring to the Grand Canyon (motion sickness medicine, carbonated water, extra water, etc), I would have probably purchased something like this here; just an idea. Such an authentic place to dine in while driving in the middle of nowhere to find decent meals. We had to walk through a gift shop to enter the restaurant. There's Rocky Mountain Views by the window seatings. I enjoyed the fast and friendly service! read more
