Initially when we moved to West Seattle, I sent Daisy to a more conveniently located daycare. After a few visits, it was noted by my partner who usually never notices the dogs' feelings, that Daisy never quite feels comfortable there. I observed soon after that when I would drop her off, I definitely saw her licking her lips and not look 100% comfortable. Coupled with a staff that seemed inattentive to customers waiting, and would not quite pay attention at drop off, we only went a handful of times. I just started Daisy here at Camp Crockett and she cannot get enough. When we pull up, she starts screaming in the car. When I drop her off, she doesn't even glance back at me! Her wiggly body language to the staff says "HURRY UP, open that door, let me go see my friends!" Daisy is a veteran of multiple different daycares across state lines, so the experience at the other day care came as a surprise--she never disliked any other daycare before. Now that she's at Camp Crockett, I'm comfortable that she's having a blast and feels safe to enjoy herself. read more

I've worked in pet care for over a decade and am VERY picky about where I will take my dog. I've worked with many clients who use Camp Crockett and now we take our own dog there as well. Here is what I have observed: The staff are ON it. They are well trained in pack dynamics and they run a tight ship. This is very important as a lot of dog daycares are completely unaware of pack dynamics. It's mindblowing but true. My pup is a sweet guy but not the brightest. I wanted him to have fun, but not be bullied. He is so happy and clearly feels safe at Camp Crockett. When we get too boring at home, he goes up to his harness and asks to go! All the staff and owners clearly love dogs and they work hard to maintain a safe and happy space for the dogs. The area is also very clean. You will never find poop sitting around. Pee is rinsed regularly and all pups are required to be altered, vaccinated, and have updated fecal tests to prove they are in good health. I appreciate this too. Our guy has never been ill as a result of camp. I won't even take him to the dog park, but I trust Camp Crockett. I've had many pups over the years and taken care of a thousand more. Our dog is SO happy. He is living his best life and we are forever grateful to Camp Crockett. They are kind, they are hardworking, and they are dedicated. What more could we ask for?! read more

I don't write reviews for things at all, but I feel like this is necessary to post so other people are aware about this location. We have been bringing our dog (a golden) to the Camp Crockett locations since he was a puppy, and have had great experiences with the Burien and Little Campers locations. The experience we had with the Delridge location has made us decide to find another day care altogether. Our dog is extremely friendly with every person & dog that he comes across. He has never expressed hesitation or fear around ANYONE, until we took him to daycare at Delridge. The man working there was really standoffish and rude to me, which I didn't really care about until the second time I brought our dog there. The next time I brought him he immediately flattened onto his belly and was really weary of this man, but let him walk him in. In hindsight I probably should have taken him home because my gut was telling me something was really off. We brought him back after he got neutered, so a couple months had gone by. When I opened the door and he caught sight of the man working there he flattened onto his belly again and outright REFUSED to even go inside. He was whining and anxious so I just took him home and he was freaking out in the car. I have never seen him act this way except for when I bring him here. I don't know if there was an incident we were not made aware of, I don't want to make assumptions about this employee but every time our dog steps foot in there he freaks out in a way we've never seen, so we'll be taking him elsewhere unfortunately. Sorry for the graphic photo. But this is how our little 6 month old pup came back to us after boarding him at Camp Crockett in West Seattle. Raw, Bleeding and infected testicles that look burnt. We paid over a grand to have these people care for our babies while we were gone on vacation and this is how they did. When confronted about the infected injury to our baby the owner stated, and I quote. "This is the chance you take when boarding your dog." They refuse to take any responsibility for this negligence on their part and are not willing to do anything to rectify the issue. I am beside myself with anger. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BUSINESS. After seeing another couple leave a comment about their dog being returned with an infection as well, they quickly blocked us from their Facebook business page. We've been taking our Great Dane to Camp Crockett since she was 6 months old. We have a daycare much closer to our home, but none of the other daycares allowed unspayed dogs past 6 months. We were so grateful that CC understood that spaying our big beast early was detrimental to her joint growth and allowed us to continue bringing her until prior to her first heat + spay. Staying open during the pandemic was one of the only ways we were able to socialize her with other dogs while socially distancing ourselves. We take our pup to the closer daycare occasionally when we don't have a lot of time, but she never gets all her wiggles out when we go elsewhere. If you have a young, big beast this is the only place in WS that has enough space to really wear your dog out. This is now the only place we board her when we go away. Our dog stays with Joe & Vanessa in their home with their kids. We often joke that "she's with her other family" when we are away. Please don't bring your dog here! I just paid $836 to have tons of small (probably chicken) bones removed from my dog's stomach. Vanessa, the owner claims that he must have eaten them in their outside play space where flying birds like seagulls and crows picked up the restaurant next door's trash and dropped them into Camp Crockett's yard. Or a whole bird dropped dead from the sky and my 14 pound dog went and ate it when the staff wasn't looking. See x-rays, luckily the vet didn't have to cut open my dog and gave him lots of fluids and a laxative regimen to push out the bones. I picked up my dog in the late afternoon after a 2 week boarding and was told that he had pooped inside of his crate that morning there was blood in his stool. The staff admitted that he was left alone in his crate while the only person on site went to open the other Crockett location in Burien. I took my dog for a long walk and he was pooping lots of runny poop and blood. I went to a 24 hour vet. I wish that I knew that morning that he'd done something he'd never done, pooped in his crate. I would have picked him up sooner. I later found out my dog was left in his crate often for the 12 hours that the daycare isn't open. Vanessa said she misunderstood that when I said I want my dog to sleep in his crate that she thought I meant I wanted him to be in his crate except during daycare. Why would I spend $45 a night for that? It explained why my dog had lost 4 pounds (from 18lbs to 14lbs) the last 2 months from stress. He had also boarded for 3 weeks shortly before the bone eating stay. At that time I picked him up and noticed he pooped tons, like he'd gotten into another dog's or a whole bag of food. Vanessa said there's no way that this could have happened. She said maybe a dog barfed and my dog ate it when the staff wasn't looking. Read the other reviews here and know that signing their paperwork holds them unaccountable in all ways even made up. I believe the financial gain part of the daycare takes more president than well being of pets. Don't let the cute entry way fool you, the dogs never even use that part of the facility anyway. read more

My dog goes crazy when we pull up front trying to get out of my car and into the Camp. It's a beautiful, clean, compound with strict regulations for vaccines and fecal test updates. It sounds like I'm not alone in the lack of concern shown by Camp Crocket for the health and safety of my dog and others. We just spent a night in the ER with our dog thinking he was choking on something stuck in his throat. 'Thankfully' hundreds of dollars later it turned out to be a highly contagious virus called kennel cough that's curable with medication. He is vaccinated, but kennel cough, like our human covid virus can have break through cases and if left untreated can cause pneumonia. I didn't call Camp Crocket to blame them for this virus, but to let them know that the owners of the other dogs playing with mine that day should be contacted to watch for the symptoms. Josh's response to my 'doing the right thing' was, "All our dogs are vaccinated. It must have been a fluke." To not make the health of their clients a main priority clashes with what should be one of their principle mission statements. Considering they were blatantly ignorant of how this virus works I would question their other medical protocol. I'd also question how they recheck the status of any of their vaccinations after initial sign up. I thought he was rude from the get-go, but brushed it off as not being a people person and hopefully had found his calling with loving dogs, but considering he didn't ask the status of my dog's current health, or that of others after reading further reviews I find this hard to believe too. I've since reached out to friends in my doggie neighborhood community and it seems they have had or heard similar experiences from this so called 'family' business. At first I loved this place. Louis enjoyed going until he didn't. He would start shaking when I tried to get him out of the car. Did anything to not go. I thought maybe it was separation anxiety. The last day I took him I forced him out of the car. I truly regret doing so. I picked him up and I had a weird vibe but brushed it off and brought him home he crashed out like usual. Then I looked and saw these marks. I was totally devastated that they didn't tell me what happened. I called the next day and spoke to the husband owner. Never once asked if my dog was ok, never asked for pictures of the wound. He just said that they probably didn't see it and as curt and abrupt and unsympathetic he was he finally said I'll talk to my staff. Never said he would check and see what happened or would call me back. To this day I have not heard back from them. I won't even mention the C word around Louis anymore because I don't want him to think he ever has to go back. Honestly if the owner had better customer service skills the bad taste in my mouth would have been completely different. I'm not immune that dogs get in tiffs and I can even believe that they didn't see the wound because the next morning when he was standing I didn't see it right away either. But these furry kids are our family members. Maybe remember that when talking to us about incidents and be more on the caring compassionate side then super defensive and shockingly blatantly uncaring. read more

Speaking as someone who has left our dog under the care and supervision of Camp Crockett since 2016 - please choose a different environment for your dog. Our dog was involved in an incident this week where he bit another dog, and the injury required sedation/stitches. The daycare staff advised us that our dog had "nipped" another dog, and everything seemed fine. Our dog is non-aggressive, so we were shocked by his behavior and something felt off. We were very disturbed to later learn that the other dog needed sedation/stitches, and that Camp Crockett had downplayed the situation significantly. We had a genuine dispute over the language of Camp Crockett's liability waiver (which absolves them of any and all liability and dog owners allegedly must pay the medical bills for an injury to another dog that was caused while under Camp Crockett's care/supervision). The owner, Vanessa, is highly unpleasant and weirdly hostile (especially towards a long term and loyal customer of 7 years). She chose to escalate the dispute before giving us the opportunity to discuss and clarify a difference in interpretation of their unclear policies and waiver. She made the comment that "many other clients" have been required to pay the medical bills of injuries caused while under Camp Crockett's care/supervision. After discussing the situation with the other dog owner, we both believe that Camp Crocket is a potentially negligent environment and staff fail to intervene before injuries occur. Both of our dogs are non-aggressive and this behavior is completely out of the norm for both of them. Because of how poorly this situation was handled, we are no longer comfortable leaving our dog in this environment with a business of questionable integrity, that lacks transparency, downplays injuries and refuses to accept any responsibility for injuries that occur under their care and supervision. The other dog owner felt the same and neither of us will be returning. We ended up covering the other dog's medical bill, and forfeiting the remainder of our daycare package (valued at $300) because this was such an incredibly awful experience. read more

We LOVE Joe and Camp Crockett, Joe is so kind, and he loves the dogs, you can tell! Our little pug has the best time when he is there and comes home nice and tired from playing with his friends! Joe understands pack dynamics, and everything is always so clean, and the dogs all look so happy! Great until you have an issue and then was super discouraged by their lack of understanding. I only used their boarding sparingly so when I dropped by dog off, I asked if there was a specific time I needed to pick her up by and it was just by closing. So was surprised to see extra charges on my already expensive bill. When I called and asked, they then told me I was charged an additional FULL day of daycare because I didn't pick her up the exact same time I dropped her off. After discussions with the employee there, got escalated to the owner. They claimed it was on a bad employee who no longer works there that misinformed me -- NOT MY PROBLEM. They would not even discount me half a day of daycare for their employees misinformation because I had boarded my dog there 8 months prior and should have known the rules. My wife and I took our two dogs to Camp Crockett for over two years before we moved away from Seattle. We have two high energy Cattledog Mixes that needed lots of activity while my wife and I were at work. The staff at Camp Crockett got to know us quickly and took great care of our dogs from a young age. They were always very flexible with their individual needs and we were confident they were in good hands when we went out of town and had them boarded. They always made sure that dogs were up to date on their shots before taking them in. Lastly, the owners of Camp Crockett are wonderful people that went above and beyond to help us out after one of our dogs went through a very difficult time, including multiple surgeries. When we registered our dog, we talked with the staff over the phone about their coronavirus protocol. They said that staff would be wearing masks, and leashes would not be handled. No-contact pickups would happen outside where leashes would be swapped out. Today, when we brought our dog for her first play date, we had to go inside their small lobby, the staff member was NOT wearing a mask, and took our leash. There wasn't an option of leaving our dog without leaving the leash, too. All of this was incredibly important to us because my wife is immune-compromised. We did not leave our dog, and when we called about the conflicting protocols, they refused to answer our questions, and we were hung up on. Our dog Charlie is pretty good about letting us know if he approves of a doggy daycare or not. We have only been here a few times, but all times he has ran in without even a look back to mom or dad (Byeeee) and tried to open the gate himself (and this is a dog that does not jump on anything!). Look no further for the best doggy day camp around! My dog doesn't do well with big rambunctious dogs and I'm so happy I found Little Campers. We have been taking my dog Oliver here for maybe 8 months and couldn't be happier. We used to take Oliver to Dogcity but they are starting to care for too many dogs in their small space (25-30) and my dog started displaying behavior issues. After kicking my dog out and almost refusing to pay the balance of my 20 day package, I was reluctant to go to another daycare place. But I'm so glad we found Camp Crockett. They have been patient with Oliver and were very understanding when at one instance he was snapping. It turns out Oliver was just a little grumpy in the morning. I'm so glad they didn't just kick him out the way Dogcity did. Oliver comes home super pooped and happy. Our dogs love the Burien location! It's clean and well cared for. Emma and Laura are sweethearts and take great care in looking after all the dogs in the contained area where they can play and run free. Our 80 lb lab who is a year and a half old gets along with all the other dogs that come in all shapes and sizes. He has endless energy and he gets it all out playing and sleeps really well after playing with other dogs all day. The ground is covered in gravel so if your dog has sensitive paws maybe this is not the place for him. Our dog has never come home with sore paws and he runs ALL day. When I pick up our dog, I can see the employees playing with the dogs, picking up poop and rain or shine, everyone seems to genuinely enjoy what they do. Our dog did have one incident where he threw up some wood and we expect he chewed on a fence or part of a tree there. We told them about it and they keep extra eyes out now for it. I was hung up on 4 times by the owner who refused to allow me to speak on the phone when I was requesting a refund because they had never seen my dog. They charged us $30 and refused to see our dog because we forgot to print out a waiver after I worked overnight in the ER and simply forgot to print the form. We had the vaccine documentation with us and they still refused. Not only wouldn't they allow me to print the waiver there or drive 5 minutes home to print it, they wouldn't allow us to reschedule without charging us another $30. I have been taking my Beans here since I moved to Seattle. My work schedule keeps me overnight at the hospital at least once a week if not more on occasion. Camp C has been generous enough to be flexible even on weekends when I have to drop him off for boarding care before I head into work. I can't imagine having Beans around without them. I hate to admit it but my pup likes going to the Camp better than hanging out with me. They have awesome grooming services as well! read more

Things went much more smoothly and we will be going back to Camp Crockett! What a disappointment. I was really looking forward to taking my dog to Camp Crockett. It's just down the street from my house. We had a temperament test scheduled today, but I was having a "ruff" morning (sorry, I couldn't help myself!). My husband took my car to work, and left me with his...so I was 15 minutes late and the leash and paperwork were in my car. I was chastised for not having a leash and the women who helped me was very put off. I think if you work with animals you need to be good with the owners, too. To make a long story short, since I didn't have my paperwork we couldn't go through with the test. My vaccines had been sent in by my vet and I was just missing the forms, but "they don't fill out paperwork on site and I would forfeit my $30 test charge and have to reschedule and pay another $30." I said no thanks to that. They seemed much too difficult for me to consider giving my business to. I know I was late and didn't have a leash or paperwork, but is that really the end of the world? My dog is a Yorkie that weighs 11 pounds and would have spent the test time smelling other dogs and peeing too much. We aren't trying to get him into the CIA. They just seemed to be unfriendly and have no sense of humor or understanding. We shall keep taking our pup to Tails of the City in Georgetown. They aren't as close to home, but everyone is very friendly. read more

We've sent our dog to daycare at Camp Crockett for a few years now. Prior to finding them we tried out a few other daycare options in West Seattle and Camp Crockett was hands down the only place we felt comfortable leaving our little dog while we were at work. That's thanks to - in no small part - the owners. We've mostly interacted with Vanessa, but they are both incredibly personable, willing to take the time to directly address any of their customers' questions or needs, and have a direct hand in the day-to-day running of the camp. For us, having a reachable owner who is actually there, knows your dog, can answer questions and watch out for concerns is the most important thing in finding a good daycare. It's safe to assume the last year has been difficult for them. But we also know that Joe and Vanessa chose to lower their daily rate to make their services affordable for families who may be struggling financially during this unprecedented crisis. We've been fortunate enough to be able to work from home during COVID, and assume a lot of people in our position haven't brought their dogs in for a while since we aren't leaving during the day for work. But as soon as we're back in our offices, our dog will be back at Camp Crockett. read more

The manager was incredibly unhelpful and entirely unwilling to help me work through registering my pets online. We took our dog to Camp Crockett for a temperament test. She passed with flying colors and seemed to have fun however after getting her home I noticed she was licking her paws a lot. After further inspection, I noticed the skin in between her paws were red raw, and bloody in some areas. When we signed up we were warned the gravel could be harsh on their paws but since we hike with our dog who has callous paws, we thought it would be fine. She is now in a cone and we are having to spray antiseptic on her every few hours to make sure they do not get infected. I can not believe Camp Crockett knows this happens to other dogs and there are multiple reviews sighting this issue and yet they haven't thought to change the gravel. It seems like a no-brainer to prevent future injury. I have emailed the email listed on their website and am awaiting a response in regard to this matter and will update my review once a response is received. read more

We are so grateful to have discovered Camp Crockett. We have three dogs and due to recent life events, have had to board them more than we ordinarily would, which made us nervous that the experience would negatively impact them. Camp Crockett put an end to all the worries by providing our boys with buddies to play with, an outdoor play area and most important, a loving environment. Camp Crockett´s owners and staff sincerely care about our three boys. They are concerned about following our care instructions and give us detailed feedback after each stay. We have boarded our dogs at other places in West Seattle and the staff seemed more concerned about limiting the time we can pick up or drop off our dogs, then whether our dogs are comfortable in their environment. When we arrived to pick the dogs up, they had no idea which dogs were ours and didn't know any of their names. There is no doubt in my mind that Camp Crockett´s primary concern is the safety and comfort of my boys. They required documentation of current vaccines and several days of day camp before approving them for overnight stays. Each time we drop the guys off and pick them up at Camp Crockett, the staff has strictly observed COVID-19 protocols. *This review is being changed from 5 stars in December 2019 to 1 star in August 2020* We have boarded our dog here several times over the last year. This review is for our latest experience, 08/27/2020-08/30/2020 (Thursday-Sunday) at the Delridge/West Seattle location. I dropped off my dog in the afternoon on 08/27/2020 with enough food for 6 meals and asked to have his nails trimmed for an extra $15 on the day of drop off, everything was normal and friendly. I picked him up afternoon on 08/30/2020 and was told he was very friendly. I mentioned that his nails were still untrimmed so they must have forgotten or been too busy. The employee offered to call the owners to find out what happened but I declined since I figured it was just overlooked. In the car I checked the bag I was given and realized I was given back all of the food I sent--all 6 meals. He ate a whole bowl of food as soon as he got home. My husband called Camp Crockett when I got home and showed him all of the food that was returned and the employee, Jaime, told us that she usually worked at another location and would contact the owners and call us back. An hour later, she called back and told us that the owners told her our dog didn't eat much when they fed him, so it was returned back to the Ziplock bags. Mind you, we were given back what looked to be ALL of the food that was sent. He is exhausted so he clearly was exercised a lot, which means he should definitely have eaten something. What they are saying is that he did not eat for 4 days and we were not informed with a phone call or notified when I picked him up. I have boarded dogs professionally for two years in my home and would expect to give owners much more information than "xxx is friendly" if a client's dog was clearly not eating for an extended period of time. It's very common for dogs to skip a few meals when they stay in an unfamiliar place...6 meals deserves AT LEAST an email or phone call or mention at pickup. To me, this means my dog is not getting the overnight family care that is advertised. We will not be returning, especially since this stay cost us $180 where my dog was not fed or had a requested service performed. Several times when we have boarded here, we were returned quite a bit of food but this was a longer stay than normal and was very concerning. Now I'm questioning his prior stays as well. The owner seems very nice from the one time I spoke to him, but this is incredibly disappointing. read more

We got our golden retriever groomed here and they did an EXCELLENT job! Dog came back with a perfect cut, clean, and happy. We will be back for sure! read more

All the staff are so friendly and welcoming no matter how often we go.(at both of the locations we have been to) Sometimes it's a month or two until we make it in for our puppy to have a playdate and they are always so kind. Highly recommend this place. Also the fact that they are open on Saturdays is amazing. Our lil buddy loves it here. Could definitely do without the construction on Delridge but still worth it. :) read more

When I arrived for my dog's temperament test another dog growled at her several times in the waiting area. It made me little nervous about leaving her there, but I wanted to power through and give it a try. Unfortunately, because I did not have my paperwork completed the owner denied even seeing her. I was taken aback because when I made the appointment over the phone I was never informed that this needed to be done and that if there were any issues the deposit could be refunded. I had taken time off work to show up at the appointment time and was extremely disappointed by the unprofessionalism of the owner. When I requested a refund the owner stated that she could not refund my deposit because of the paperwork. I felt compelled to warn other dog owners of this scam like tactics.
