Very nice park featuring a good range of amenities - there are plenty of sports fields (baseball,…read moresand volleyball, tennis courts - and we saw some people playing pickleball there too - soccer, and basketball. The pretty Todd Pond offers a nice place to sit and relax and also allows fishing. A couple of shelter houses and a gazebo, with picnic tables, are available. The playground area is great - swings, slides, climbing structures, seesaw, and more. A paved walking trail winds through the park. A clean restroom is available, and there are two paved parking lots available on either side.

Azaleas and crab apple trees are amongst the varieties. Nothing was in bloom during our visit. There is a mix of small and large trees. Signs inform guests of the scientific name of the specimen. A few of the most impressive features are the section of Redwood tree, large piece of petrified wood, and the juniperus utahensis tree. The section of Redwood has markers at 50 year old intervals. The tree dates back to 200 CE. Unfortunately, some people have tried to scratch things into it. Located next to the slice of Redwood is a petrified piece of wood. The outside has the wood grain found on bark. Inside looks like granite. The pink, black and brown grains are magnificent. It's amazing what nature can do. The juiperus utahensis has these eye catching offshouts that give the tree a beautifully unique look. I would love to have one of these trees planted in our yard. I can only imagine how long it took for these trees to grow so tall. The Rowe Arboretum is surrounded by a fence. The fence helps protect the greenery from animals that could destroy it. Posted signs notify guests that leashed pets are welcome. The path is gravel. That could hard on paws. Maybe stick to leashed lizards. All in all, our visit took less than an hour. Take care while driving in and out. The road that leads in/out is rather narrow.

This is the Mushroom House in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Cincinnati. The amount of detail is really breathtaking: circular steel steps, deck rails of wood shingles, stained glass windows, tiled ceilings... of course, I had to snap some pics. How often do we come to Cin City. The original owner/builder by the name of Terry Brown has passed away in 2008. If you're passing through Cincinnati you have to stop by the Mushroom House. This is the most…read moreunique real house I have ever seen. It is a relatively young house, when it comes to house age. It was started to get built by architect Terry Brown in 1992 and completed in 2006. Terry Brown him self resided in it until his passing in 2008. This house looks like a mushroom from a certain angle, and like an owl from another. It is a fairytale house in the real world. There's so much fine detail, there's no wonder it had taken this genius man 14 years to complete this artistic masterpiece of a home. The spiral orange stair case was chained off not allowing access to the public. There was a car parked in the driveway as well as a surveillance camera. They also had a "no trespassing" sign. The land around, although very minimal is very well groomed and well kept. Something tells me there are people who currently reside here. I don't know how I would feel about living in a home that gets so much attention and that is always being photographed. The Mushroom House is a must see in Cincinnati. The playground along the eastern edge of Summit Park was very popular with the kids, There are135 acres (!) of greenspace, a fish-stocked (!) catch-and-release pond, and more climbers and such for older kids. The walkers and dog-owners among us liked the long network of paved paths and the dog-park area. There's a central open space apparently for concerts and such. I admit, i spent most of my time watching from outside the kids' playground, and listening to a band over the covered walkway next to the taco place, with a relaxing beverage from the nearby bar :-). Sometimes it's nice not to be in charge. None of us braved the cool-looking 9-level 153-foot observation tower because the we site said that the elevators were closed at the time. They say you can see downtown! There is also a slippery splash and play "water course" to explore which was closed, too, during our visit. They say there's ice skating in the winter. The whole experience worked for us because of the nice restaurants, bars, and ice cream shops along the north and east edges of the park. We ate twice with different groups at the Mexican taco place, and three times at the park-themed restaurant. We had coffee and drinks from the cafe / bar / bottle-store. We got ice cream twice! We didnt make it to the bakery or the diner, or the chic nail salon which could have been nice for some me-time :-).

It's perfect for getting together with friends, with multiple gathering areas and even rentable spaces. I've seen people taking engagement photos here, hosting weddings, and I even did my own graduation pictures here. It really is such a beautiful setting for special moments. One thing that always surprises me is how big it is. There are genuine hiking trails that wind through the woods, which is amazing for a park so close to the city. It's also great for birding, and I often see people playing frisbee, walking their dogs, or just enjoying a peaceful walk. The native plants and flowers are so well maintained, and there are so many little tucked away spots where you can sit with friends or a partner and enjoy a quiet, private moment. Signs are posted with a phone number to checks if fields are already reserved. The trail is a paved multi-use trail. It snakes around the various sports fields. Pavement is pretty smooth with only minor cracks. A great area to learn how to ride a bike. Use of bikes and skates are allowed on the trail. Dogs are also allowed. A large play structure is situated in the middle of the park. There is a also sandbox with two diggers. There are some shady areas that would be nice for a picnic. If a baseball game is in progress make sure to watch out for fly balls.

You register, then receive a list of places that are dog friendly. When you have checked it at all the stops your dog receives a special tag! Some of the stops even have discounts. So anyways, about the preserve... This is a little off the beaten path but all in all not too far off 275. It runs along the river and has some nice views of such. There is ample parking in the lot, along with dog waste bags, trash cans, a Port o Potty, and a covered pavilion (although it has no tables right now). There is a non motorized boat launch, although it is a little far for carrying your kayak from the parking area. The trail map is easy to understand and the trails themselves are well marked. There is a woodsy area and a grassy area of trails. Its really all beginner stuff, so not too strenuous, just nice scenery. The place seemed clean and well maintained.

On Sundays in the summer a musician plays the carillon bells in the tower for about an hour in the afternoon. Bring some blankets, lay in the sun, and watch the clouds while you listen to the carillon. Behind the playground is a ravine and a hiking trail. Take the stairs down to the old boat house. This seems to be a popular spot to take engagement pictures and senior pictures. From there follow the trail into the woods and along the creek. It's a great place to take your kids to learn about trees, bugs, and other outdoorsy things. The trail does not go very far before the creek makes a sharp left turn and it becomes difficult to go further. We wandered around for a while trying to find the continuation of the trail, but it seems that it ends at the bend in the creek. From there you backtrack to the park. This park is within walking distance of our house, so on our way home we pass through the Mariemont square and always get some ice cream from Graeters. A great way to end any afternoon. It can be hard to find this park, but Mariemont has put a sign pointing the way in the median on Wooster Pike.

There is a small parking lot at the entrance and is right off the roadway. We took our pup here and it's great for off-leash or on-leash exploring. A lot of dogs are off-leash so if your dog isn't comfortable around that, I would suggest finding a different trail. It's a beautiful walk and enjoyable exploration but my only mark is the sign into the trail, telling you to not let the dogs get in the water. Apparently there is a contamination in the water so it could be harmful for pups. Not sure how old that sign is BUT a lot of dogs were in the creek and by that I mean every single person with their dogs so I'm not sure what is up with that but that definitely marked a star off for us because Opie loves playing in the water. We'd definitely hit the trail again and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a good hike or wanting to spend an active afternoon with your pup!

It's not rocky, but it is not smooth (not pavement). I love coming here on the weekend mornings. It's quiet, peaceful and my pet frenchie loves it. One of my favorite walking spots. I would say it's roughly 2-3 miles long.
