Had a great experience, staying at Camp Kernville. We got in my opinion the perfect campsite with the right amount of shade and view of the water. Restrooms were clean. Everything stocked and cleaned. Every campsite had 220 outlets. Some had 110 outlets. It was our first time here. My family of four. And we're already talking about this is going to be our Kern Spot for sure. All the staff super friendly and helpful. All and all. We're already looking forward to our next stay. read more

Very disappointed with how this campground handled this situation. We stayed here and, to our knowledge, cleaned up everything before we left. If something was accidentally left behind, it was absolutely not intentional. We were packing up at night, so it's possible something small could have been missed. What really bothers us is that nobody ever called, texted, emailed, or gave us any kind of warning. We were never told there was a problem or given a chance to explain or make it right. Now, when we tried to book another stay, we were suddenly told that management says we are no longer welcome because they claim we left trash behind. A simple phone call or warning would have been completely understandable. We would have apologized and taken care of the situation immediately if something had actually been left behind. Instead, there was zero communication and we only found out when we tried to come back. We enjoyed staying here and wanted to return, which makes this even more disappointing. Treating returning guests this way without even giving them a warning or an opportunity to correct an honest mistake is very poor customer service. read more

We took a group of 30+ with us and rented multiple campsites for our vacation. We also rented one of Camp Kernville's trailers for our getaway. Everything was great and our crew enjoyed themselves. The staff is very friendly and Jennifer from the staff even came down to take our group photo down by the river. They had a karaoke competition that took place over our stay, which was a lot of fun! Camp Kernville is a wonderful place to stay for campers. read more

We have stayed at Rivernook in the past which is a great RV site also. We decided to try Camp Kernville this year and we were glad we did. The beach was great and the water is much more common in that area so the kids were able to jump into the water and really enjoy the river. The staff was really friendly and the sites, bathrooms, and entire property was well maintained. Definitely going to be our spot from now on. read more

My family and I had an amazing stay! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. The receptionist was incredibly friendly, polite, and accommodating. We arrived with our truck camper, and although the site I had reserved had a lot of gravel, she was happy to move us to a better campsite that was much more comfortable for our family. It had the utilities we requested and gave our two kids more space to play and enjoy themselves. Every staff member we encountered throughout our stay was kind, professional, and always had a great attitude. We spent a lot of time at the river from the day we arrived until the day we left, and it was one of the highlights of our trip. The campground is very clean and well maintained. You can tell the staff takes pride in keeping everything in excellent condition, from the campsites and bathrooms to the little beach area. One feature we especially appreciated was the showers. Not having to use coins was a huge plus, and it was nice being able to take our time instead of rushing. Another thing that stood out was the staff checking guests' wristbands while we were at the river. I think that's a great safety measure because it helps ensure that only registered guests are using the facilities, making the campground feel safer and more secure. I highly recommend this campground. It may cost a little more than some other places, but the outstanding customer service, cleanliness, beautiful surroundings, and well-maintained facilities make it absolutely worth it. My family and I will definitely be coming back! The only suggestion I have is to consider allowing two vehicles at every campsite, or at least at some of the larger sites. That would make the experience even better for families like ours. read more

The staff at Camp Kernville were extremely accommodating over the course of a very busy weekend.

Great clean campground. Close to all the cool things Kernville has to offer and close to lots of outdoor activities. Mule deer like to wonder the park at dawn and dusk. If you want a better chance of seeing wildlife make sure to book the sites that back up to the private property. Winter is a great time to visit as the weather is fantastic and its a lot less busy. If we come back this way we will definiteky be staying ar Camp Kernville again. ​ read more

Don't rent one of there RV's! Ours was falling apart. Water damage caused soft spots in the floor. I could shower because of that. Refrigerator was not turned on which took 24 hour to cool and was still on the warm side. Bunk beds had a thin foam cushion. The a/c froze over and didn't cool the master bedroom. Paper towels holder feel off and the entrance door had no latch to keep it open. No electrical outlets in the kitchen and no shade because they removed it do to wind then left the frame on the picnic table with no way to prop it up because they took the pins. This little treasure just outside of Santa Paula on the road to Ojai is amazing. I can't believe it is not busier than it is, this is an actual campground trees and trails in thanks for the kids in zip lines and all kinds of cool stuff... big shade trees wonderful staff wide open and you have to mention the beautiful peacocks roaming freely.... This was our 3rd year visit to this camp ground. We found the camp site to be kept very clean and quiet. This was an enjoyable experience As always. The campground has a great location and is walking distance from the town. There is a small beach front by the river. The market and gas station is a hop, skip and a jump by vehicle. Many antique stores and places to eat and have coffee or ice cream. We will be returning next year. Highly recommended! read more

Great getaway camp location. We had the camp to ourselves after Labor Day rush. The beach was close by to swim or fish. We caught a catfish and rainbow trout. Staff were friendly and kept the facility clean. Local restaurants around within walking distance and I enjoyed white water rafting. Im really sad to write this review. This is my third review, please look for the first two reviews to show a pattern. We love Camp Kernville, and look forward to our annual trip for Memorial Day Weekend. We have been coming every Memorial Weekend for several years, along with many other campers. Sadly, we did not rebook for next year. We love this campground for lots of reasons, but I refuse to pay over $700 for a weekend of camping. We used to pay about $280ish for the same campsite. While the prices go up, services go down. They claim full hook ups, but there is no water hookup. Water lines were damaged during a major flood. After the flood, they took the opportunity to evict the permanent residents and instead of working to fix the water lines, they blame the city and put that money into rearranging the campsites to make them smaller so they can have more sites. Now you have to drag a hose across the campground every day to fill your fresh tank. No wifi. No laundry room. Don't get me started on the 13 pages of rules and expectations they make you sign at check in. They implemented a wrist band program where ONLY the front office can put the wrist bands on, and they are put on tightly to make sure they aren't removed to sneak visitors in...because also, now they do not allow visitors. My awning would not retract, so I went to the office to ask about borrowing a ladder and I was told I can go to the store and buy a ladder. Don't get me started on Kareoke night. Saturday night we had to listen to hours of kids screaming in a microphone till almost 10pm. Only a couple adults participated and ofcourse the owner was the main star in kareoke night. They put large white canopies at every site and anchored them down with large cinder blocks. A random kid ran through our campsite (during karaoke) and kicked the cinder block, tripped and fell into the rocks. The canopies look nice in photos, but in real life, they generate lots of heat and are very uncomfortable to sit under, not to mention the ridiculous way they are installed. While the campground claims to make "improvements" to the property, they increase the rates every time, funding the owners desires while reducing the amenities offered. This place went from being completely booked solid for Memorial weekend, but now they offer discounts to try and fill spots for the weekend. This campground has been in the same family for over 30 years. While I support rate increases to help pay for improvements, over $700 is ridiculous for what they offer. If you book a weekend and rent one of the on site trailers, it will now cost you over $1,800. If you rent one of the remodeled "cabins", up to $400 a night with 4 night minimum. Other campgrounds in the area might be close in price, but they only have a 3 night minimum The ONLY claim to fame here is the location on the river, and "your base camp for outdoor adventures," which you cant afford to so because you just spent $700 on the campsite and $300 is gas. My family is truly sad and disheartened to not be returning, but enough is enough....fairwell Camp Kernville, thanks for the memories. read more

Been coming to Camp Kernville for 10 years now and this was the most friendliest staff we have encountered. Kuddos to Nikki.....she was amazing and helpful. She went above and beyond and made our stay fantastic for the things she was able to help us with. She even helped me jump start my car battery that was dead!! The grounds crew, the office staff, the owner...thanks for making our stay one of the best ever and YES...we were there during the fires but we weren't affected by the air quality at all.
