Absolutely incredible! We had the most wonderful time here! We arrived with our Girlscouts troop and families. We had originally booked the high tower spot for our large group, which was not ideal. It was right off the main road and not behind the gate like the rest of the campground. After expressing our need to change locations, we were accommodated and it was no problem. We booked spot 19 which was close to the bathrooms and beautiful! Several of our campers opted to RV camp and took other surrounding spots. We are avid tent campers. This campground was pristine! The bathrooms were so clean! Showers had great water pressure and hot water immediately. The best part, there was a golf cart checking in at each campground for extra firewood and ice. They'd deliver it to you and charge your card on file. You could also text the camp host for ice or firewood. The camp store was great. Had everything you could need! HELLO CLEAN BATHROOMS. As someone who use to work at the Pleasanton fairgrounds this place is what fair park Rv should strive for. Clean bathrooms, well lit, gate codes , family and pet friendly and there's a store. The staff is absolutely fantastic and helps you if you need anything. They have camp host so everything is helpful and secure. Now let's talk views... BREATHTAKING views and the way wildlife is around but all you'd ever see is lizards,squirrels, and butterflies. Trash is center bathrooms and porta potties available as well. Showers are neat and the walk way to the bathroom is perfectly placed so you don't disturb any other guest. As a black women I felt safe here. As a lesbian. I vibed here and will tell my friends it's a safe spot. Now as far as the river access goes what maybe like 50 feet away? My first time camping at Kern River's Edge Campground and I'd come back here again, despite the few hiccups. My friends called and obtained last minute reservations a week before our scheduled trip. Thank goodness they had a spot available. Campsites here are slightly more pricey than other areas, but well worth it for the "extras". We arrived late and did NOT have a welcome package waiting for us at check-in station, therefore we had to figure out the code to drive into the first gate. We're smart cookies and figured out the code, of course. Once we found our site, the camp host greeted us 30 min to 1 hour later. Forgetting the guys name, but he was friendly, talkative and easy going. Campsite comes with a picnic table and fire pit and room to park 2 cars. LOVE the flushing toilets, running water from the sinks as well as the coin operated showers here (so don't forget to bring quarters). Running river nearby with a game area (giant connect four) out there too. As I'd take my family to come glamping here soon. read more

Booked this campground to take my family camping for a few nights. One who had never been Camping before. Thought with the higher end prices the campground would be nicer. The first night we were there the sites next to us was partying until 3am until I finally had to go over there myself to tell them to keep it down. Horrible experience. The men's bathroom only had one shower and one toilet available. Didn't have any toilet paper. And the whole bathroom reeked of raid bug spray. The picnic tables are wobbly and outdated. Next time I'd rather go back to Rivernook campground down the street. Hope this campground gets more on top of things for future campers. The amount you pay for a regular tent site a night is ridiculous for what you get. The owner was actually really nice and apologized for the inconvenience but in the end was not what was expected. read more

This was initially planned during spring break however with the way weather was that time, snow and rain were expected as well extreme cold- truly not for our toddlers- we felt it best to reschedule: initially we were not allowed to but we have children toddler age and younger with us that they were able to permit with additional fee. So finally we rescheduled in the first week of May and the weather was just right. Cold but comfortable at night and hot during the day - enough to explore the water but a little too cold to swim. Rafting season was in as well as fishing and that was what our weekend was about! The campsite was generally clean and maintained well. Ofcourse there was sand and dust that was expected but the facilities in general were great. There are restrooms and showers with hot water (coin and timed however which with the amount paid, and code to access given, anyway, should come already with the price- which is the only set back)'were clean. They had water to access everywhere as well as sinks built all around to use for washing hands, dishes, etc. They also have port-a-potty's accessible aside from the restrooms. There is a shop that sells food like ice cream, candies and snacks and drinks, ice, firewood and a gift shop where you check in. The staff was great. Helpful and checked in often. The people we were camping with had an issue and lost their key and the hosts went above what was expected and called the rafting companies and other vendors that were in the area to assist us in finding keys and getting a locksmith over to help. Overall the experience was great and we were already making plans for our return! read more

Booked a last minute 2 night camping spot site with friends and family. It's been a while since we've been camping but this place was a fantastic relief, not only because of how enjoyable our trip turned out, but also from the super friendly and accommodating staff. How awesome is it that this place will deliver ice and firewood directly to your campsite!? I thought was such a cool idea. There's no way I can leave a review about this place without mentioning the bathrooms. Honestly the closest thing to feeling like home! Super clean, everything works well. I was really impressed. We loved it and can't wait to book our next visit with them in the near future. Kern River's Edge keep up the good work! Loved our stay here last weekend. We planned a little camping trip for my daughter and her first grade friends & family. Trying to organize a multi site trip was stressful in it self, but they made it very easy. They actually called me a few weeks before to confirm details, but when I checked in, I was lucky enough to get the same lady that called. She had everything ready for us, write bands and parking passes for the cars, and answered all my questions. The sites are great and impressed all our few first time campers with the cleanliness of the sites and the bathrooms. Definitely going to try and make this trip an annual one. read more

We just got back from camping at MRA had a BLAST!! The campsite was clean, the bathroom were always clean, the river was ahhhmazing, everything was PERFECT! We had camp sites 8 and 10 and those two sites accommodated all of our 6 tents. The benches they have at each site came in handy too. We were also able to have a campfire, which the kids and grown-up enjoyed. This campsite is privately owned so you can have a campfire even when its fire season. The camp host are also very accommodating, they have a phone number for you to call and you can get ice or fire wood delivered right to you. Our campsites were also very close to the river and you could hear the river flowing while your in your tent. Our boys also got up early and snagged the best spot on the river for our camping crew. I highly recommend MRA/Kern Rivers Edge campgrounds. Everything was perfect and we cannot wait to go back and reserved a site for Sept. 2022. read more

Stayed at the lofty oak and had an extra site close by for our other friend's tents. Overall very clean campsite with great access to the river. Be mindful that there's only one building of flushing toilets located in the middle of the grounds and the rest are all porta-potty's scattered around for sites on the outside. They have ice and fire wood ready to go at the host site which is really nice and convenient. The river was at perfect levels for just chilling and tubing so that was a great plus. We also ventured into town for some groceries and to test out the local saloon and brewery. Lofty Oak site is good for 2-4 people/ we used the deck as a hangout spot (be careful about the red ant infestation tho!) and put one tent plus the picnic table and our food set up there. Comes with one outlet and a little hose. Might want to bring extra lights that you can plug in. read more

Owners John and Rhonda were so helpful and welcoming, their staff on site were always available and quick to help with any needs. The campground itself was immaculate and clean. top notch facilities. They went above and beyond creating spaces for games "Bud's Grove" and "Pavillion" for large parties. River access was easy. Our group "Trail Mixer" had a blast and we will now be regulars. I was there this weekend. I have good and bad things to say about it. The host is 100% great, friendly and no complaints. The campground is clean, and very nice. You can order ice and firewood from him. Nowhere mentions on the website that their store is not open in November. Nowhere on their website states that there is no lake access in November. I took my mom to the campground because I told her about the lake. That was a disappointment. I didn't see a sign or anyone checking about non campers going in. I've never seen any campground where non campers can just go in and walk around including in between occupied campsites. This happened 3 times between Saturday and Sunday. One of the incidents 12 people from the same bunch including kids with wood sticks, yelling, walking near our campsite, the adults being loud etc. This is not expected at all, and I wasn't happy. read more

Went for a family camping trip. Good times. Clean showers and restrooms. We were on a double camp site named sandy beach with a river view, it was relaxing and very enjoyable. The weather was perfect. The workers are cool. Ice and fire bundles for sale there. Standard pricing. Easy access for rv and trailers. Just be care if there's been any recent floods. Definitely a place to chill and check out with the family. Small grounds, easy to get around. Usual lights out at 10pm. Only critters we encountered were skunks. read more

First family camping trip since COVID hit. Check in was easy enough, but asking staff about any activities you receive eye rolls and sighs. Campsites are exposed to the sun offering very little shade during the day, bring an easy up. They do sell wood and ice on site. The bathrooms require a code and you must wear a wrist band for some reason (although no one checks if your wearing one) Music must be turned off by 10pm, which really kills the mood. Checking out is easy and they even offer a campsite "review" to avoid any hidden fees the staff said. I would recommend the campsite a little down the road. Friendly staff there! read more

this past weekend my family and I enjoyed ourselves at Kern River's Edge Campground. we stayed here for two nights. although the river was too high and flowing too fast, we still had a great time! there was a slight confusion as soon as we arrived. another group was placed in one of our campsites. they fixed it right away and helped them move their things. the campground was clean. all the workers were very nice and helpful. the main restroom flooded with poop water overnight. by 8am the women's restroom was clean and ready to use. we really enjoyed the games that were available in the common area. our favorites were connect four, cornhole, and volleyball. until next time! read more

I was in the campground site number 29 and I had the absolute best time! We relaxed went for walks and just had an amazing weekend! The bathrooms and showers were the most clean I have ever seen in a campground! The camp hosts were accommodating and anytime we needed wood or ice it was seriously brought within 10 min! The other part that was amazing for us was it was calm and quiet all weekend which made the whole trip quite relaxing and even more wonderful! My wife and I went down the Lower Kern in a 2 person inflatable kayak! With Austin as our guide we made the trip safely and with a lot of hoots and hollers! Wow what a ride it was will be a lasting memory for the rest of our lives! The whole crew and all of the people we went with were all super nice and supportive. We stayed at their campground over the weekend and it was great! Booking with them is easier if you call them, they're super friendly, and thoughtful. They would call me for updates and the final instructions since we arrived late and their office will be closed when we arrived. When we got there after 9pm, Grant was there to help us with whatever we needed, already got us our wood and in the morning he got us our ice. Owner of the campground even came by to check on us, really nice guy. The bathrooms, showers were nice and clean. They have a grass area where they have games available to play with (corn hole, volleyball, giant jenga, connect 4, horshoe game...They have a campground store that has everything you might have forgotten to bring. I highly recommend this campground and their staff! We are surely coming back soon! read more

I cannot, in good conscience, give more than 1star, due to the owner, apparently, you can't listen to music while you're camping and don't even think about collecting any wood for a fire. Bad experience! Just got back from our camping trip. At first glance , they have a clean environment and friendly staff in the main office at check in. Once we where set up, staff attitude was the worst, at first I figured it was a mistake but they just kept harassing my family . There singled us out for no reason. To the point that we here made feel unwelcome. We pack out stuff and left a day early in the middle of the night . This was my first and was my last for this place. This fellas made is feel like we didn't belong there. If we needed ice staff ignores us , I had to drive to the main office to get my own. This was bias. Borderline racist. So much for being courteous, simple etiquette would go along way. Do not recommend this place. read more

I've stayed here several times with my family and we are never disappointed. Staff and camp host are always helpful and friendly. Prices are reasonable, restrooms and showers are clean and kept up through out the day. Host come by periodically and offer ice and fire wood at very reasonable prices. Make your trip to the store minimal if you prepare well, which is great as it allows you more time to relax and spend with your family. Fantastic campground with proper toilets, toilet paper, shower with $, recycling bin, firewood to buy, fire pit to BBQ, male s'mores or just make campfire, nice clean campgrounds. We were happy and we enjoyed our relaxing weekend. A bit walk to the river if your campsite is far but nothing too far, it's just you are not exactly next to river. It gets sunny and not enough trees to have shades so bring your canopy to sit under. This location was great. Spaces are large and easily accommodates an RV and 4 person tent, we had space 16. My family and I we're here 2 weeks ago and we got 3 spaces adjacent to each other. Space #17 which was on the edge was very spacious and was able to accommodate all of us. We used this spot to eat and prepare food, did the bonfire and had games for the kids. Bathrooms were clean and the showers were so spacious. For $1.75 my daughter and I showered for 7 minutes and had a bit of time to spare. They had a bench to place your items and hook for your towel. River access was a short walk away and had many spots that are convenient for the kids. read more

I've camped a lot, and this is the nicest campground I've ever been to. It's right on the edge of the Kern River, the bathrooms are clean, the showers are great, and the hosts are top notch. The hosts really set the tone for our whole experience. They are a young couple, who are extremely welcoming, friendly, and helpful. We arrived on a Thursday with a group of 3 adults and 9 youth, and everyone loved the place. There are tons of things for young people to do, right in camp. By Friday afternoon, weekend campers were pouring in and we were a little nervous, not knowing what the crowd would be like. But the camp seems to draw a pretty nice kind of people. Many were loud and enthusiastic but friendly and polite. The loud talking and loud music all stopped pretty close to quiet time at 10pm like it was supposed to. I loved this place. I'll definitely come visit again. read more

Amazing experience. My wife and I came here for our honeymoon and we could not have picked a better spot to spend our special weekend. The staff here is great. They welcomed us with open arms, made us feel welcomed and answered any question we had. The campground is nestled in the valley and has some incredibly beautiful views, no matter which way you looking. Michelle at the front desk is so kind and happy, she greeted us with a huge smile and gave us a complete rundown of the camp and a provided a very detailed map showing us a highlighted route straight to our campsite. Grant the host welcomed us at our campsite as well as others nearby. He stopped by throughout the day and asked if we needed anything, or had any concerns that needed to be addressed. We cracked a few jokes, had some laughs and made us feel welcomed. Tristan the groundskeeper makes sure that the campsite is spotless and above your expectations whenever you arrive. I had a hard time finding trash on the ground, the crew keeps this place looking spotless. The restrooms are CLEAN, I did not expect the bathrooms or showers to be this nice at a campground. They have most of what you will need in case you run out of supplies on site. They have firewood, Ice, fuel for your camp stoves and so much more. You'll find volleyball nets, cornhole, horse shoes and other activities to help keep you entertained. The river is close to the campsite so you can sleep the night away to the sound of the water. The staff is very conscious on safety with the river being close and they remind the campers throughout the day to be mindful of the river, and not to underestimate the current. They encourage you to stay along the edge of the river and out of the rapids. You can not go wrong staying here. The views, staff, and location make this a spot that I will recommend to anyone looking for a place to unwind or spend a special weekend. I'm already planning a return trip, this place is that good. The only issue we had here was some of the campers were loud after the quiet hour which is 10pm. Grant asked them to keep it down in respects of the other campers, multiple times, but you can't expect someone to babysit "adults" all night. Other than that the only complaint I have is that I didn't stay longer. read more

My favorite camp site. I love being able to take a dip in the river when it is so hot. It's cooler by the river too. We hung out there all day. Luckily it wasn't too crowded and we got a spot to ourselves. The campsite itself is awesome because you can use charcoal and firewood. Dinner was delish! We took our dog there this time and it was so fun. We drove 45 minutes to the trail of 100 Giants. It was empty on the trail. And 40 degrees cooler than at the campsite in the morning when we went. From Michelle's cheery welcome and genuine excitement for our experience to Grant and Tristan's concierge level attention, our stay at the Lofty Oak was one of the best. Clean, professionally managed campground with lots of activities and plenty of rivers edge to spend time in the water. Close enough to town for quick runs in, yet removed enough to just hear the River without hearing the minimal traffic off Sierra. We took 11 teenagers and 9 adults on mountain biking and river rafting trip here and loved it. We stayed at the campground which is nice with a shaded common area with outdoor games. The bathrooms were good for camping and having access to the river was awesome. We did the mountain biking one afternoon and full day lower Kern rafting the next day and enjoyed every bit of it. We definitely recommend Mtn River Adventures. read more

Booked a shuttle to Cannel trail. Me 47 ,my wife 36 and a buddy 43. Friendly shuttle ride up, the trail was awesome. We all had a blast. It's a challenge, as the first 17 miles are all above 7000 feet. You would need to be in tip top shape to ride some of the up hills in the first part of the ride. We all got off and walked up the first climb. The elevation is no joke. Once to the cabin the ride got much easier. We filled up water packs at the cabin. The scenery was beautiful. If you do this trail you will never forget it! This is one of the top rides I have done. My friend did rent a bike, the bike was in great shape, also included a tube and tool pack. read more
