Overall takeaway: Tripp Lake Camp is a lovely and sweet place, with long-standing traditions, and filled with bright-eyed and confident girls having fun. There was a lot of positive energy, and purposeful intent. My wife and I are glad that we took the time to drive up to Maine, and grateful that our daughter had this positive experience/introduction to overnight camp. Leslie, Janet and Stacy were all incredibly warm and welcoming, and our daughter said that the counselors and other girls she met made her feel safe and at home. She also had a lot of fun, made a few friends, and was excited that she was able to participate in some of the Tripp Lake camp traditions (including lots of singing, and a play put on by some of the other campers). After picking her up Sunday morning, our daughter told us that she definitely wants to go to Tripp Lake for the full summer next year. We took her to visit a few other girls camps in Maine after finishing Rookie Weekend, and all were quite nice. We decided to stop by Tripp Lake again before driving home, and were fortunate to come during "sing song" practice, and to see a camp meal where the girls were all singing. We got a good sense of the camp spirit. Thank you again to Tripp Lake for giving our daughter such a wonderful first overnight camp experience.

Activities are prime, starting from water activities on the beautiful lake, such as her favorite, sailing, to club sports, pottery, and rock climbing. Camp also offers a variety of day trips to keep things fun, and evening activities such as campfire, shows, and story times. Food is another reason why I feel so comfortable with this camp. My daughter is a very picky eater but she always finds something good there and has never complained of "food boredom". Flavor and quality of choices is really high. Lastly, the management at the camp is personable , understands, and truly knows and remembers your child especially once they become a return camper. They treat each child as an individual , and this is priceless. I highly recommend this camp to anyone wanting to experience media free, unburdened summer experience for their child or teen. I have almost never had a bad experience with the staff. I am in love with the riding program they have at FA. The riding staff teaches you so much no matter if you have competed in A rated shows or are just getting on the horse for the first time. There is always something more you can learn from them. The traditions that are at FA make camp special and you truly carry them throughout the years. FA is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I'm am excited to go back every year no matter what.

I eventually reached a live person on my third day of trying to book a trail ride for family; they were rude about booking, wouldn't allow an 11 year old experienced rider to ride without a rope led companion horse and said they didn't know if the possibility of rain would affect the ride and whether we'd go out. First introduced to the camp via neighbors back in the late 90's I was always curious about this place that local Mainers excitedly went away to for a month. When we moved from Maine to New York we wanted our two youngest to have an opportunity to explore the out of doors that their older siblings had growing up in Maine. We enrolled them in kohut and for the following 8 years watched as each summer they grew, tried new things, unplugged and fell in love with their kohut family. There are fewer more satisfying feelings of comfort with a decision, than when you drop your child off at camp and they bolt away, running into the arms of favorite counselors and friends from previous seasons. I have the pleasure of saying that one of my kids actually was a counselor for a summer, while his two siblings attended Kohut, experiencing Kohut from the "the other side". One of my favorite parts of Kohut is that kids have an opportunity to try things that maybe they wouldn't dare attempt in their everyday lives. My son developed an interest and talent for fencing, and became interested in the guitar, both while at Kohut. He has taken these experiences to higher levels, but gained that initial confidence while at camp. I'll never forget those first two summers, picking up the kids, and having them regale us with stories and songs about their favorite moments. This past summer was our last at Kohut, and I found myself tearing up as I picked up my now nearly six foot tall son, who remained in my eyes that 7 year old, in his kohut shirt standing beneath the pines. I would highly recommend Kamp Kohut to anyone considering a summer camp.

This is a multi-generational family farm run by a couple and their two daughters. The family is…read morevery hard-working, helpful, and experienced, and someone is always available and willing to help when needed. Pros: low-key, kid-friendly atmosphere, huge indoor arena, excellent head trainer, full-sized outdoor dressage ring, heated tack room with hot water, and access to endless miles of trails and dirt roads allows for plenty of independence and fitness work. They offer both stall board and pasture board at reasonable prices ($400 and $550). (Horses on stall board are fed hay and grain three times per day as opposed to just twice for pasture board horses.) They also make their own hay, which tends to be plentiful and high in quality although it can vary and occasionally becomes limited in the spring. They will do blanket changes some of the time. Almost all the turnout areas have shelters, but owners reserve most of the nice grassy fields for their personal horses while boarders' horses are often turned out in less desirable areas which can be extremely muddy in the spring. Trailer parking is complimentary and kept plowed and accessible throughout the winter. The house is close to the barn, so there is always someone around to attend to emergencies, and they always do a night check of the horses in the barn. Cons: the kid-friendly atmosphere includes kid barn help. Many of the chores are done by working students who are not always supervised and are often quite young and inexperienced. Water buckets and troughs are not scrubbed often enough. Stalls have dirt floors which soak in pee and produce overwhelming ammonia odors by springtime. No wash stall. No jumps but people have brought their own, and boarders are free to jump without being in a lesson. Last time I was there, much of the wood/wire fencing was falling apart and horses were getting loose on a regular basis. There were also often loose wires on the ground. Spooky horses may be unsettled by the frequent use of dirt bikes, nearby gunshots during hunting season, and random machinery on the go, but it's great for desensitizing them. The footing in the indoor is dirt and compacted manure (they drag the manure back into the footing rather than pick it out), and can get very dusty. The footing is not too deep but can be a little too firm in the winter. Also they do not water it, but occasionally will put down snow in the winter, which doesn't make much of a difference.

Horrible experience!!…read more Tickets were purchased on 6/18/25 for the Songo River Queen river cruise on 8/31/25. Four senior citizens drove 1.5 hours to Naples, ME and arrived at 12:25pm for the 1:00pm cruise. Due to ambulation issues one of our party signed us in and the remaining three sat on a nearby bench. He was not informed that we could board nor was the boat indicated; it was very small and not within sight. At 1:30pm we asked about the cruise and were told that it had left at 1:00pm. When the boat returned we lodged a complaint with both the captain and the crew member who had signed us in. The latter said that we had been told that we could board, which was not true. He also said that no one was sitting ion the bench when he left. This was also untrue as we never moved from the bench and he looked right at us. The captain assured us that the owner would respond to our calls and most likely refund our money. Five messages were left for the owner, a complaint was made via Facebook messenger on the company site, the Sebago Lakes Chamber of Commerce was notified, and the Better Business bureau was contacted. There has been no response to date to myself or the BBB. A refund is due!
