The indoor is large and well-lite as well as the horses have good turn-out. In addition, there are dressage letters although sometimes certain people don't want to use the aids they have at their facility. The barn is very clean and there are many horses as well as a field for cross-country jumping and a good outdoor ring. Also they will help you tack and untack. The trainers take cash, some major credit cards, checks and of course traveler's checks. I don't know about Apple Pay. Some of the grooms are very good guys who speak English and Spanish. However, one trainer thinks you can text and drive so that isn't a good thing (you should know better). They also have handicapped parking that is reassuring to see.

Show vibe, kids, especially in the Summer, and horses are well cared for. They tack and untack well, a nice perk. Few adults. No lounge, or social area for the kids. But if you just want a convenient picturesque place to ride and keep your horse, you could do worse. The place is safe, with a rustic vibe. Stalls in various sizes spread over several barns. Tack rooms average, but some room for trunks. Grooms are nice and know what they are doing. Vets and farriers there pretty much weekly.

Today I was fortunate to attend The Girlfriend's Luncheon, an annual event hosted by Stamford Health to raise funds for breast cancer awareness and support services at the Bennett Cancer Center. The staff was rude, people were leaving a lot of food behind so I can only assume it was mediocre at best. I recently lost 46 lbs. in three months and I worked SO HARD to do so; as a result I do NOT eat heavily late at night and dinner was not served until 8:30 PM. All I asked, and I asked nicely, was to take my entrée home. One waitress was nasty and said "no, we don't do that" but then a nice one said she would ask the chef, then returned and said the chef would wrap a meal for me. After my entire table was done eating and I was still waiting, a really snarky dude came by and told me, "we will wrap your dinner but we're busy so you will have to wait until everyone else is done." Half an hour later I got up, told the captain to forget it, and went home. Mind you, my friend who bought two tables paid $1,250 PER PERSON and this is how I was treated; really disgusting. It was so bad I will never support this charity again if the gala is hosted at this venue. I can't say enough about how awful an experience this was and I wish I could rate it NEGATIVE stars.

The boys were not interested in the discussion at all. The session was informative to the parents, but the lady seemed unable to handle younger kids. We then took a nature walk outside and the boys were very into the hike. The trail was clearly marked and easy to access by foot. Parking lot was relatively small. Overall it was an okay experience.

While I don't have any children and this place is pretty much irrelevant to me living in Brooklyn, I feel my different perspective could be helpful to parents and educators in the area. As it was an exhibit opening, we heard short speeches from and interacted with the people behind this organization and space. They are some pretty amazing and very passionate people. Their dedication to creating a fun and engaging space where children (and adults) can learn about the wonders of nature is extremely noble. They deserve your attention and your children deserve the educational tools they offer. I should also mention that the bee exhibit is pretty awesome. I am not much of a 'scientist' so I learned a lot of interesting facts about bees. It is put together beautifully and is highly interactive. They even made little bee costumes, so the kids will be able to dress up and act out the parts of different types of bees. The exhibit, along with supplemental information from conversations with people who take bees very seriously, also provided me with an opportunity to do some critical thinking about how human beings interact with the natural world and the unintended or ignored consequences of our actions. In summary, don't bee stupid! Take your kids to this wonderful little learning center. The television will still be there buzzing when you get home.
