There is still a lack of AC but as the weather changes that becomes less of an issue (for now). Just about every staff member I've come across here is very nice, polite and helpful. They treat the kids that come here well and they seem to look out for them -so for those reasons I think it's a great place. Reasonable monthly fees and a variety of classes are a bonus. Fitness center is average but clean with decent machines. You can get a good workout here, take a swim, and play ball here without breaking the bank. They provide clean towels as well. Very cost-effective.

In this location they did not have the children engaged in the activities and were not paying attention to them. We paid a lot of money for the camp but it did not meet our expectations. If you are looking forward to having your child have a good time during camp do not enroll them at this location. They reached out to the parents and said that out of 20 kids, there was a group of 10 kids who not engaged or paying attention. I believe if 50% of the children are not engaged, they need to change the activities to make them more interesting to the children.

The bus is air-conditioned with a loving and trained bus counselor. The counselor facilitates activities on the bus. Our son loves going to camp. He was skeptical before he went for the first day. He told the counselor, "I didn't want to come but I changed my mind." He was hooked when he arrived. The staff are thoroughly trained. This is the only camp (that I know of) that has a mandatory week-long training. The staff are compassionate, knowledgeable, patient and flexible. Nature Place Day Camp is intuitive and thoughtful to each camper, rather than prescribing a "one size fits all," schedule driven, rules based mentality. The campers are encouraged to be curious. Campers exude confidence through this curiosity. The camp has daily swimming in their beautiful "pond" (a tasteful pool that looks like a pond). My son is learning how to swim! In the past, we have invested our time and money in swim lessons ad nauseam with no results. He did not even want to go into the pool. Now that he is learning at nature place day camp, he has made more progress at camp than he has in years of lessons. The camp is teaching respect for nature and thoughtfulness. The camp values the environment and demonstrates an authentic love for the ecosystem to the campers. The camp also encourages mindfulness and thoughtfulness in silence and quiet meditative peace (instead of other camp's whistles and bells). The correspondence with the camp is wonderful. We can always reach someone at the camp whenever we need to talk about issues related to camp (e.g. different pick ups, meals etc). The camp sends out beautiful weekly updates which lays out what happened the prior week. The camp is a lovely place. My only regret is that I did not get to go here as a child. My husband and I are so fortunate to know that our son is getting a well-rounded, nurturing, safe and nourishing experience.

Needless to say, we weren't sure if he was going to be able to handle camp, let alone Steve & Kate's. Turns out he had a fantastic summer. It's easy to pinpoint the reason too: Janelle, the camp director, and her incredible staff. We really weren't expecting any accommodations, but/and Jenelle and all the counselors quickly realized what my son needed, put some changes in place for him, and connected with him in an amazing way. My son was so happy and he learned that he can fun with less structure, be safe with new people, and make new friends. I'm gushing, I know, but this summer was super-special and I couldn't let it go unnoted.

Thank God my child has a strong sense of self and knows how to verbally and physically defend herself. With that being said, this is not how I want her to spend her summer. Summer camp should be a place where a child relaxes, and not where she develops defensive techniques from verbal and physical attacks. Stay AWAY!!! To the parents of these bullies, DO BETTER. These types of behavior are learned and fostered at home. Update: I met with the Director and Associate Director of the program and they informed me that 2/3 kids that were involved in the incidences were expelled. The last child was 4 year olds and not fully aware of what he was doing. I was happy that the administration did not dismiss what was going on and acted swiftly.

I registered and paid for the clinic immediately. When I showed up for the first day, they first told me we were late and that I had the wrong time. The coaches seem well schooled in fundamentals and my 8 year old is well challenged in his 2 - one hour weekly sessions. This is not club soccer for sure - more like winter training to build foot skills and confidence - but for the price ($100 for each 8 week session) and given about 10 kids per class, it suits us. Our youngster has already improved in a short few weeks. If your kid is the star of his club team, this may seem elementary. But if he or she is like the vast majority of youngsters who play rec soccer in nj, this program is a nice way to reinforce the skills they learned in summer and fall. Plus, the facility itself is first rate and, most importantly for me, it serves decent coffee. See Pete. He will hook you up.
