We Wanted 1940s Jazz style music for our old Hollywood themed wedding at The Cliff House Restaurant in San Francisco. Campbell's Jazz Soup played at my parents' 50th Anniversary Party, and they were amazing!! The musicians were so talented, and I got tons of compliments from the guests about how much they loved the music. When I was planning with them, Brian was incredibly organized, responsive, and enthusiastic. He listened to my ideas of what my parents would like, and then made suggestions and gave guidance. Leading up to the event the band was flexible and made me feel relaxed even though I wasn't sure where the band would set up given the unexpected heat that day. I didn't have to stress because I knew they would take care of the details, and I was right! The evening was perfect! There was lots of dancing (from my 3 year old daughter up to guests in their 70s!) and all of the band members were really friendly and of course very professional. We had Brian and his band play at our wedding during dinner, and it was perfect. They know how to play a variety of different genres, but we decided to go with Dixieland. They played outside next to 150 people eating dinner and chatting, and despite not being allowed by our wedding property to have sound amplification, they were plenty loud. They played some fast tunes, some slower tunes, and some in between tunes. Their Dixieland set had an energetic, old-time feel. They did a great mix of upbeat and slower songs, matched to the crowd, had great energy, and were very well received by everyone. This is a very belated review. After several postponements and a venue change, we were planning our daughter's wedding for July 2021. At the very last minute, I heard about this group. They were able to rearrange their schedule so that they could play at the wedding. They played both during the ceremony and the reception. The Dixieland music created the perfect atmosphere. Is it possible to become a groupie at the tender age of 49? Brian Campbell's Jaz Soup Band played at my wedding and I cannot find the words to describe how incredible they were. They far exceeded my expectations and everyone LOVED them! Brian, the bandleader, was an absolute delight to work with. He made coordinating easy and fun! I could tell that he really cared and he helped me create a vision of how I wanted the event to transpire. He went above and beyond to make everything perfect. He even accompanied the pianist with his trumpet to make the Wedding March sound more like the original version because he intuited how important that was to me. When I asked if he knew a song that had been one of my late father's favorites, he found the music and said he would gladly play it at the reception. What I didn't expect was that he would learn what the lyrics were in English and sing them for my family as a surprise. I was expecting an instrumental version since the song is in Italian. It was amazing and touched my brothers and mother tremendously. We are so glad that we chose to have the five piece band as the sound was unbeatable! We are looking for any excuse to have them play for us again! Until then, we will be going to as many of their public venues as possible. If you are looking for an incredible band, look no further. I hired this band to play for my husband's 50th surprise birthday party. I threw the kink in things by not giving them a standard venue, but asking them to play on a yacht. I hired Campbell's Jazz Soup for my wedding because the bandleader, Brian Campbell, was so prompt, kind, and helpful over the phone. He replied the same day I inquired about my wedding, spoke with me for nearly an hour to hammer out the details, and then contacted me again several weeks prior to the wedding to confirm everything with me again, from my song choices to what I wanted the band members to wear. Simply because of Brian's fabulous personality (and their great online reviews), I hired them without having heard them play in person. On the day of the wedding, I was thrilled to discover that they are absolutely wonderful musicians who kept our guests happy and dancing till the end of the night! They played in a two-piece for our ceremony--we walked in to a jazzy, romantic "Blue Moon" and out to a happy "L.O.V.E."--and then as a swinging five-piece for our reception.
