After losing our camper hot water heater on the first night of our 21 day trip we called all over in several states to find a replacement. Jamie at Davenport Iowa camping world came to the rescue. He took the time to find us compatible options and was able to squeeze us in for a service department. We arrived 2 days later from Ohio and although they ran into some hiccups along the way they got us fixed up and back on the road. A HUGE thanks to Jamie, and our tech Reese. not only did this camping world give us a broken camper and not tell us, but also didn't tell us that our brand new camper would explode like a tuna can on the road. the staff refused to be of use and now we have a blow up camper that for some reason " our insurance didn't cover". You could be in East St. Louis and go to a sketchy Camping World and it would probably be better than this. And yes. we are still paying off our cardboard camper. read more

RV left the repair facility WITH AN ERROR CODE on the leveler that wasnt there when it arrived. This is the 2nd time (will NOT be a third) that I trusted Camping World to repair my RV. Took 3 weeks to "winterize" and they charged 2 separate AC diag fees to "not find a problem" read more

If i could give 0 stars i would. I drove up from Texas to purchase an RV, we had negotiated everything up front. When I got there they tried adding on a $985 Prep Fee and they hadn't even cleaned or vacuumed the camper, increased the sale price of the hitch by $500, their reason for this was they didnt know my truck would require rails fir the 5th wheel hitch, then i showed the Finance Manager my text messages between the salesman and I and where i stated i did not have the Puck sytem in my truck and would need rails, he then immediately took the extra $500 off. After walking through the camper I noted a few things wrong, 1. Shower door gasket was torn(their fix fir this was to just take the gasket off, which caused the door to drop 1/4" and out of the track and to fly off while going down the road) 2. Busted vent cover in living room area 3. Water damaged trim by the front door Told them I wasn't going to go through with the deal unless these items were fixed. They kept me there for 9 hours while the issues were being addressed. Just after the dealership closed they brought out my truck with the 5th wheel already hooked up. They conveniently locked the key to the trailer inside so I couldn't inspect anything. When I got to my destination and went to drop the trailer off the truck, they landing gear motor was seized and would not lower and the Furnace does not ignite, it blows but no heat. This dealership is a disgrace. I bought a brand new camper from here and during my walk through, the two individuals who 'helped' me during it couldn't answer hardly any questions, and instead insisted I check the QR code or handbook. No one could answer how the solar power inverter works. The caulking around the exterior or the camper is terrible with lots of gaps and spaces. I put in a service ticket and have been waiting months for pets to arrive. I am going to try my luck with corporate because this local dealership in Davenport IA is TERRIBLE!!! read more

Great customer service by at least 8 employees at this Camping World from the first person we saw to the people that helped get us to where we needed to be to ones that just checked on us to the service guy to the parts and service clerks to the manager. Seriously. Awesome Awesome Awesome Huge selection. Very friendly, super helpful, got both of our problems solved. Correct fitting wiper blades and window glass sealed back on our window openers! Camping Circus (World) update: OMG! They don't quit! Remember they had RV for 2 wks and hadn't touched it but had time to do a "19 pt. inspection which turned into an estimate for $11,700!?!!! When we picked up the RV, I refused to go in. I left, got madder, turned around and went back. Bob's in the RV trying to charge the battery, then he left W/O THE 19 PT INSPECTION ESTIMATE. I didn't realize that we didn't get the estimate until I got home. I called requesting the pix and paperwork on the nearly $12,000 estimate. They promptly mailed it to us....WITHOUT ANY PIX OF THE ROOF, NO PIX OF THE PINHOLES THEY FOUND AAAAAAAAAAND!....The estimate was now $7,637! Four thousand less than they verbally stated to me and my husband! NO pix of the roof at all! The handwritten note at the bottom states, "presented over the phone to Mr. Taylor. Work declined at this time." THIS IS FRAUDULENT! I emailed the GM's boss this morning! Then called the GM questioning why the estimate is $4000 less then the one quoted. He replied, "I don't know if they said that but I will get w/Vicki first thing Mon morn and call you back." I said, no you won't. I will call her Monday morn! I KNOW why it's $4000 less. Purchased a 2016 Winnebago Sunstar LX motorhome from Camping World - Sacramento. It had 15,000 miles on it and it was driven here. We took possession at 17,000 miles, and the engine blew after we drove 4,000 miles. Luckily we had been pressured into purchasing the Good Sam extended service plan which had an overall limit of coverage at $25,000. However, the administrator of the plan, Assurant, decided a new engine was only worth $20,000. We were stranded in Texas for a month while the engine was replaced. Camping World writes 70-75% of the RV contracts for Assurant, and thought they could pressure Assurant to approved the balance. Nope, and when pressed, all Camping World could say was "sorry, there is nothing we can do". Leaving us on the hook for the balance. DO NOT purchase from this company, and if you do, purchase a service plan from someone else. read more

There should be negative stars for camping world. It was the worst experience , we've had and are still paying for it. No oil change no under chassis work at all. Drove it home from Iowa to Minnesota, a four hour drive. They told us it was a great unit, without telling us about no doing chassis work. I was lucky to hold payment on the unit until they paid 5,000 in repairs needed. Batteries were shot,, rusted straps on fuel tank and air brake leak. After that, we replaced batteries, brought it home, parked it and went out today and it's dead. Also the slide will not retract. Charging the batteries again, hopefully the slide will come in, after i charge the brand new batteries. On top of all this, the wind shied leaked water, They had the shade just low enough not to be able to see the crack it had. You could not see the crack from the out side, only from the inside. I'm sure they hid that as well. I realize it's a used unit, but i have a 2000 Damon, that has no issues since we've had it. I suggest no one buy anything from Camping World. I highly recommend everyone stay away from here. I paid them to install a new drop bar for my hitch and they didn't tell the mechanic so he tried adjusting the old one(which I never asked for) before installing the new one(which I did ask for. And they wanted me to pay for TWO jobs. 30mins labor to take 2 bolts out, 30mins labor to put 2 bolts back in. Cost me $700 for a $150 drop bar. read more

Buying camper was all fine. We bought Coleman travel trailer in April, 2022. I took it back in to have it winterized September 28, 2022, not bothering to ask the price, because I have had various campers winterized so many times during the last 20 to 25 years at other dealers. My bill, after waiting an hour for the work to be done was $262.34. After leaving, I phoned J&J Campers in Silvis to ask the price for winterizing my model of camper--$100.00, all charges included. (I called J&J immediately upon leaving Camping World, and did not identify myself). No one from Camping World will call back to explain the breakdown of charges. I will not have any more future service performed by Camping World, and will not visit their lot anymore for a future camper purchase. I have been a resident of the area for many years, but have never experienced this treatment from an RV dealer before. read more

I called at least 3 times to confirm they had the hitch I needed as ours broke and we were camping about 100 miles from home.....they said they had it after even specifying that I needed a particular style. I get there and they tell me oh...we actually don't have the style you need....Completely wasted 5 hours of my day driving there and back on a Saturday when time is critical to find a replacement as businesses close early on Saturday. I don't even know where to begin. Back in Dec. of 21 we decided to use camping world to service our RV. Earlier that month we had to have electrical issues and a new driveshaft built, and that work was down in about 2 weeks at freightliner in Davenport , IA. Great work and great team. I then made the appoint for all the issues on the home side of things. I called Camping World in Davenport to make the appointment and they said due to the volume of work they are already handling the next available appointment they had wasn't until March 3rd 0r 5th ( so far back it's hard to remember). So In March I took it in and checked in. OMG. Makenzie was so helpful, and nice. She even talked my into the "Good Sam" card. Now while I was there the first red flag showed itself, but at the time I didn't realize it was a red flag. Their computer was being pretty "slow". OK fine, in my choice of careers I deal with tech everyday, so I understand. Makenzie did tell me that they are still pretty well backed up, and it would be a 2-3 weeks before it would actually get in the shop. Now we keep the RV in a heated warehouse along with a few other things. So we decided since it the end of winter in the mid-west and it would be outside that It still is damn cold they would winterize it. A month goes by and I hear NOTHING. I call 3 times in 1 week inquiring on the status. 3 times I am told that Makenzie is handling it but is UNAVAILIBLE and she will return to my call. NO CALL BACK ! I then have to go out of the country, 3rd world NO cell service. When I return I have a really weird message from a "service tech" asking why I want winterize in the middle of April? I was told they would be winterizing it the day I brought in, I call back and again NO Makenzie available. 2 days later I call back and get Mackenzie, and she apologizes left and right, She had COVID, never got the messages, BLAH BLAH !!! AND my damn RV STILL hasn't been looked at. I asked if it was even winterized and her reply is "I'm not sure, our computer system is being slow, and I can't look anything up. Tell you what I will run back and talk to the techs and find out what's going on, and I will call you back" NO RETURN CALL. Few days go by and I call back. Makenzie is NOT available again, they will leave her a message and she will get back to me... Another week I call. Oh look Makenzie answers the phone... Again "I'm so Sorry, I have been out with family issues, Sick, Blah poo blah" And They are getting ready to pull it in... MAY 6th 2022 I call AGAIN. This time I'm a little heated!!! RV STILL NOT BE LOOKED AT... She is looking into why and will expedite it and get it in ASAP. BEFORE WE CAN HANG UP I HEAR A MALES VOICE IN THE BACKROUND SAY FU*K THAT GUY, And Mackenzie says while hanging up the phone " You know what Mr. Smith KISS my ass" Now I believe she had NO idea I was still on the line when that was said. Camping World in Cedar Falls and Davenport are equally terrible when it comes to servicing their equipment. To schedule any repairs requires a minimum of 2 week lead time.....who does business this way?? and how do you keep any customers coming back?? Worst place to buy a camper. They will suck you in with there big flag and there large not but the second you sign off in the camper you are a nobody to them. They do not care if you spend 5,000 Or 65,000. The campers they sell are of terrible quality and they don't stand behind them. If you need a replacement part, save your self the time and go through a different company or the manufacturer. There good Sam "discount" is a joke. Worst service department i have ever dealt with anywhere. A complete joke. We bought a brand new camper last year and they have had the camper more than we have. Its one thing after another and I am talking about major, major things, heater water fail, refrigerator fail, circuits that keep blowing, the whole master bedroom platform completely disintegrating. will never, ever buy another Jayco and will tell everyone I know to never go to Camping World. Just talked to them and they told me to call Norcold, the maker of the refrigerator, because they couldn't get answers. Total and complete CRAP. Every weekend we go camping something else breaks. We have been full time camper for ten years now. Camping World - Davenport provided a great "Residential style" camper that fits all our needs. The sales department provided a smooth path to move from our present RV to the new RV, and Mike in the finance department is awesome. Of course all new campers have those items that will need to be fixed from the factory. April Ann from the service department understands what customer service is. A lot of changes from Thompson Family Center to today, April has convinced us that she will get the job completed. I have never been questioned in what item I need reviewed, April always comes through for us. read more

Great until you commit to buy!!!! They say "if you decide to back out of the deal and we have already started the cleaning and preparation, you'll be responsible for those costs".... REALLY, you don't say!!! We now know that's because they start the cleaning of the brand new RV at 8:00am, but make you wait until 4:00pm to do the financials... when the appt was scheduled at noon!! So of course we'd be charged for your negligence!!!! On that note....Who's going to get up and walk out now knowing that they're financially responsible for the cleaning and maintenance...that happened before you even arrived to sign anything!!! So yeah, let's just go ahead and make people wait a LONG 4 hours after their appointment was scheduled to do anything!!!! The salesman was great "Tim" until we made them the deal! Then when going in to sign the paperwork and seal the deal, to my surprise haha, he didn't know us anymore!...oh and apparently he also doesn't know how to listen to a voicemail until you call back again and again!! But again "if you back out and costs were acquired, you're responsible"!! And to add fuel to the fire, they said "oh bring that cute little 20 month old of yours back when doing the signing, it'll be fun!!!"....THEY SAID!!!! Got there at 11:30am, left at 5:30pm!...That's just cruel!!! shame on you camping world for turning a what was supposed to be a great first time family experience, buying a brand new RV from you, into a long torturous day for my 20 month old and practicing terrible customer service!!! WOW!!!!!!,,,,WHERE DO I START, THE TERRIBLE SERVICE, OR THE CONNING OF MONEY FROM CUSTOMERS? I brought my travel trailer in for warranty repairs, and what a joke. The service department as explained by other customers is never at fault. The trailer was dropped off for some pretty basic issues, and was promised back by Thursday of the following week, and I would receive a phone call with status updates on the repairs. Needless to say, no updates and the trailer never got completed. I called the dealer numerous times, and left numerous messages, but no calls back. Finally on Saturday, I was finally able to get a hold of somebody and was told the trailer was not yet completed and in addition, the roof needed to be scrubbed, sealed and inspected for the price of almost $300. I also received an apology for nobody returning a phone call, and I would receive a call Monday. WELL, once again no phone calls, and no returned phone calls from the messages I left, until finally late Tuesday afternoon. On Tuesday, I agreed to have the roof and gutters cleaned and inspected, and once again, I was guaranteed a phone call on when the trailer was supposed to be completed. BELIEVE THIS OR NOT, NO PHONE CALLS AND NO ANSWERS IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OR NO RETURNED CALLS FROM MESSAGES LEFT THE REMAINDER OF THE WEEK (keep in mind, I called dozens of time to get a hold of somebody). Finally on Saturday, after enough of the games, I drove the hour plus drive to check on the status in person. I arrived at the dealer 30 mins before close (keep in mind, I once again called numerous times and left messages on Saturday, and the secretary even hand delivered a note to call me, and yet NO CALLS). Upon getting to the dealer, the individual I had been dealing with, was behind the counter, playing on his phone, totally complacent to me being there. After a good 5 minutes of me standing there, he finally noticed me standing in front of him and asked if I needed assistance. Once getting my name, I got the "I was just getting ready to call you......" line. With a bit of conversation, I was assured all the work had been completed, and I paid for the roof clean, seal and inspection, I was told where the trailer was located, and I was on my way. As with the rest of my experience, finding my trailer was a chore, as it was not in the location and or slot I was told it was in. With no help from anybody at this dealer, I finally found the trailer, hooked up and made it home. Upon inspection when I got home, MORE ISSUES! It was discovered some of the warranty issues were not resolved and didn't appear to even be looked at (partially my fault as I didn't bring my keys and the trailer was locked, and the dealer was closed so I couldn't get into the unit), and the $300 roof clean, seal and inspection was NEVER done, but yet I got charged. I do believe the roof got sprayed with a hose, but that was the extent! The only reason I believe this to be true, is due to the fact that the side of the trailer was black from dirt running off. However, when inspection of the roof by myself, it was in fact never scrubbed, cleaned or sealed, but yet I got charged. HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE OF BEEN CONNED OUT OF A ROOF CLEAN THAT NEVER GOT DONE???? Moral of the story, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! Now, I still need repairs, and I'm out money for services never rendered! read more

On 4/9/19 I picked up my camper that I had purchased from this place last November . The General Manager that was involved with the purchase is no longer employed here. I was verbally told that when I came to pick up my camper that they would put in a king size mattress, as there wasn't one in it when purchased, that they would store my camper inside (it wasn't, was filthy outside) until I came to pick it up in the spring and that the storage fee, $50 a month, would then be refunded. Well, since the GM that made this arrangement with me is no longer employed there, they chose to not honor this agreement. The GM there now, a smug individual to say the least, was not concerned with keeping this customer in the least bit happy. My bad, I did not realize these items were not included on my paperwork, but I was raised that your word is who you are. Camping World Davenport sure showed me who they are! Also, the vinyl floor had 4 areas with splits in it that weren't there when purchased. The only thing said about that was that they had had -90 degree weather. There was no resolution offered for this new problem. The tech that went over my camper with me, Zach, was great to work with, very thorough and patient with my questions. I left and drove 850 miles back home to Colorado, was stuck in North Platte, NE for 2 nights due to whether. I had them install a back up camera on my camper when I purchased it, once home the camera was not connecting to my truck monitor. Hopefully, the local Camping World will be better to work with then Camping World Davenport. Be careful when dealing with Camping World Davenport, as they seem to be more concerned with making sales/money than keeping customers satisfied and happy. Won't be doing business with them again!!!! The worst place in the world. The only thing that matters is pushing garbage over the curb, even if it doesnt work or not. They will lie and deceive customers non stop to make a sale. Service work is a joke and they never have any parts in stock. Sometimes you have to bring your unit back just to have something like a light bulb changed-if its a warranty claim. We purchased a used camper from them in September. The pickup process was slow and a little unorganized. They failed to recognize that the bypass valve on the hot water heater was turned. You would think they would catch that in their $350 prep charge. Ordered parts for a broken Dometic toilet and twice was shipped wrong parts. We were traveling from Reno. This was the first location that was able to install a satellite dish on our motor home. Tony in parts ordered what he said we needed after he asked about the specifics of our unit. We arrive at 8 am for the appt. Aug. 14th. About 3 hrs. went past & the tech came out & said they were having a hard time tracing the antenna wires & it would be just a little longer. That was the last we saw of him. It is now after 6 pm & they said it was done. We went out & were having a hard time getting the signal from Direct TV. The tech stayed until about 7:15. He had multiple wires hanging from under the TV, It looked awful. We were on the phone with Direct TV until after 9 pm & never got it corrected. This guy drilled holes in our unit without even asking us & they did not clean up the mess they made in the cabinets. I had wood chips all over the dishes, etc. We had to leave so we could get to IL the next day. We then had to go to the Wauconda, IL store & they at least got the system to kind of work. That tech had no idea why the Iowa tech wired things like he did. All he had to do was go into the port for the TV. The service manager Vicki/Iowa store (who was very nice at the store), called after they got a charge from Wauconda to find out what the problem was. She promised my husband she would call us back by Monday after she spoke to her higher up person. That has now been approx. 3 weeks ago. Our install date was August 14th! We have argued with Direct TV & they won't come out to look at it because we are not at our billing address & also because it was bought 3rd party even though Camping World is able to sell their equipment! It is a joke! I am so angry. If this is not taken care of we will take this dish & 2 receivers back to Camping World & I will contact an attorney for the damage to our unit from the holes that they drilled. read more
