Inn on Boltwood - The lobby smells good. In the morning they put out cider donuts and coffee and tea.

We sat in the parlor room and the chairs were all torn up- terrible! We wanted coffee and went to the front desk where the clerk was playing solitaire. When we asked if there was coffee or hot cocoa we were told to go to the bar and order it and it would be delivered to us- we were surprised that she didn't stand up and offer to take care of it for us. Customer service training should be a focus. There are a lot of places to stay and we should feel that we made the right choice in staying here and spending money here but we don't. Hopefully employee training as well as some repairs will be done so that customers can benefit.

I so wanted to love this, quaint, historic place. If my daughter chooses Amherst, then I would…read moremost likely stay here again. But next time, I'm going to have some requests. There's no place as close to the college as the Inn on Bolton. It's literally on campus and probably part of his problem, is run by the college. It's really expensive. Yet, the rooms are small and awkward. Plus it's a bit of a labyrinth and I feel too little twin girls are gonna pop out at any moment and scream redrum at me. When we checked in at 2 AM, exhausted from our cross-country trip, and a one hour drive, the receptionist sent us to the wrong wing, and when I went downstairs, he sent me back up, saying I just didn't see it. I had to go down and have him come upstairs to help us find our room only to discover it wasn't where he sent us at all. Next, there was no bottled water in the entire building, not to buy or what is customarily complementary in a hotel of this price range The very polite guy went onto explain that it was because they hadn't received their shipment of water. I'm confused because I sure did pass Walmart, Target a grocery store and a Trader Joe's just minutes from here. But alas no one thought to go get water. Their parking lot is a four minute walk from the hotel. You may hit the jackpot and get one of the 45 spots right in front of the hotel. We didn't. Boo!! Also, they are saving money by not cleaning the rooms daily. I think that's BS but it would've at least been nice for them to tell us a check in. I found a gray hair on the comforter which was not ours. Gross!!! They do have a fancy, highfaluting Molecule air filter that I did not steal. I don't love this place and I wouldn't recommend it for any other reason then if you were spending multiple days on campus. If I come again, I will request daily service and also request to be in the west wing.

We knew when it came to the food, we wanted 1) a farm-to-table experience with pure, delicious, locally-sourced ingredients, 2) an elegant but down-to-earth seasonal menu, and 3) plenty of options for our vegan and celiac guests as well as our meat-lovers. Bonus points if our caterers were a pure pleasure to work with. The instant we spoke to Jake about our day, we knew we hit the jackpot. From the beginning, it felt like working with a friend. Jake was open, flexible, professional and generally awesome. Since we planned our wedding in about 10 weeks, I can't tell you what a load off it was to have the catering piece taken care of. Jake and the team were super on-point and helpful with our semi-DIY plans, and they couldn't have been friendlier through the entire process. Oh! And the food was SO good, SO perfect to what we envisioned and our guests have had nothing but highest compliments. I often get cravings for that meal... just delicious. As a side note, before we met in person we visited the Wheelhouse truck at the Amherst Farmer's Market in an impromptu detour and the team was so warm and welcoming to us, having us sample their amazing arepas and chatting with us about our upcoming plans. These are just great people doing great things, making special food and spreading love. Honestly, we couldn't want more than that.

Plenty to challenge older / more experienced kids, but also moving at a pace the younger crowd can keep up with. Last year, her favorites were kayaking and caving. This year, raft-building and caving. She starts each day excited for a new adventure, and comes home worn out and so full of stories. The guides have all been fantastic - knowledgeable about the trails, history, and environmental topics; good at setting expectations about the day's activities and rules; and great with kids of varying abilities. Caving may be the best thing about this program. Our family hikes & paddles regularly, but caving is best done with a guide who's done the cave before and can set expectations realistically. When our daughter comes back from the caving days, her clothes are wet and filthy, she tells stories about impossibly narrow and tight passages, and she grins the whole time. It's such a great experience and has really expanded her enjoyment of our outdoor adventures. My only request is that the guides would give parents a list of where they went, complete with recommended parking and recommended routes - so we can try these things too! Well, except the caving. I'd want a guide for that!

You could…read moresee quite a few of the class were tentative as they entered the cave but once they got inside all of there faces lit up as they began to explore. Our guides were Anna and Benjamin and both were great with the kids. They told us stories and taught us all some facts about how the caves were formed, what was down there, and how they would look in the future. We explored some of the larger areas of the cave and also some of the tighter passages. It was peaceful, challenging, meditative, and fun. It's also worth noting the care Anna and Benjamin took to make sure that everyone had a pleasurable and safe experience. They were supportive to push us to get a little outside of our comfort zones but were equally supportive and attentive if someone felt they had reached their limit. It's been two days and the class is still talking about the trip. I plan to get as many of the kids and parents together to do this again some time in the near future. I do not have enough words to express the gratitude I feel for this experience.

She gave us lists of preferred vendors to choose from, she gave us good questions to ask them, she advised us when we asked, but ultimately let us make our own choices. She was 100% willing to look at any other vendors not on her lists, as well. She made sure we were well informed and comfortable with our choices, but that they were our own, not influenced elsewhere. I found her very helpful with small things especially closer to the wedding. Tons of little questions cropped up and Pam was always on it, she reached out to our venue for us and got us answers so we could focus on other things. The day of the wedding she was amazing. As the bride, I had to worry about nothing. She understood what I asked for and made sure it was all set up--and it was! No issues, no mistakes, no problems, everything ran completely smoothly, largely thanks to Pam's presence and help. Cost-wise, very affordable. I pictured a planner to be MUCH more expensive than Pam is (especially when you're dealing with wedding prices, ho boy!) She has a simple down payment and contract, and final payment due closer to day of. All payments and paperwork were handled well and expediently. In the end, she often says "it's whatever you want!" and she truly works to make that happen.
