Wheelhouse catered our wedding September 23, 2017 at the Worthington Inn- Four Corners, and they did an amazing job. Jake was excited to make my husband's vision of an Oktoberfest-worthy German feast a reality, while also accommodating my vegetarian preferences. We were thrilled to be able to do family-style plating so all our guests could sample the fresh local vegetables as well as the sauerbraten (German-style beef pot roast) if they wished, and the catering staff were seamless in how they set up and served, even in a space that was new to them. We had raves about the food from our guests - my husband took one bite of the sauerbraten, dropped his fork, and went over to the catering tent to compliment the chefs. As he put it, this was a meal his German Oma would have been proud to put on the table. The vegetables were also delicious and hearty, with garlic-white beans, squash, and mushrooms. The team was also great about the few dietary restrictions among our guests, even handling one on the fly that we hadn't thought to warn them about in advance. Jake added a roasted vegetable item at the last minute, free of charge, which was lovely, as were the side of fingerling potatoes and the salad course, and the bread basket with fancy butter that guests were able to enjoy as they came in to the reception from the cocktail hour. Jake was great to work without throughout the planning process, and he and his team made set up the day of the wedding SO easy for us by having us set up one place setting the way we wanted it, and then replicating the other 100 or so themselves! Working with a venue where we rented everything meant he had to tell us exactly what he needed well in advance, and we were able to arrange for everything in part because he was so well-organized. We were first introduced to Wheelhouse by my parents, who flew us home from DC for a farm dinner at Simple Gifts to try the food and see if we might like Jake to cater our wedding. I cannot recommend Wheelhouse Farm enough. They were responsible for our reception meal (cocktail hour appetizers with a sit-down salad course and main course served family-style) and dessert (strawberry shortcake!) served at our wedding for 70 guests in the Berkshires in June. They serve food from local farms and their menu is dictated by what is available and in season - thus, we were able to sample their food in general, but we knew our wedding menu would be different. Once you taste any of the food they cook, though, you will trust them with whatever menu items they recommend because their food is so, so, so delicious. Our only request was that they serve strawberry shortcake as the dessert, and they were able to freeze strawberries from one season just in case strawberries weren't available once our wedding rolled around in June (luckily, we got fresh strawberries when the day finally came!) - we so appreciated this thoughtfulness and flexibility. Throughout the entire process, from hiring them one-year out from our wedding date to our phone conversations and email correspondence, they were professional, detail-oriented, attentive, and super responsive. We worked mostly with Jake and Calla, who were both exceptional. We also seemed to have won the lottery with dietary restrictions from our guest list, giving them a whole list of various restrictions (nut-free, dairy-free, vegan, gluten-free, you name it, we had it at our wedding), and they were so graciously able to accommodate every single guest with delicious alternatives. Their staff was incredibly friendly and attentive while being mainly in the background during the reception. And, most importantly, people cannot stop talking about the food - weeks later, friends are still waxing nostalgic about the food. If you want an incredibly professional catering experience plus the knowledge that you will receive delicious food that is local and supports Massachusetts farmers, why would you hire anyone else?! read more

We were SO happy with Wheelhouse as our wedding caterer. Jake was such a pleasure to work with, and the ethos of the whole team was really warm, responsive, and clearly so passionate about food! We worked on the menu with them for a long time, and they were so receptive to our ideas and wishes, and so creative & inspired, not only in their culinary skill and knowledge but also their commitment to local, seasonal, sustainable food. Everything was DELICIOUS, and our guests made so many comments about the food being really standout. For our rehearsal dinner, they did a grill-out style dinner, with a grill station of kebabs (chicken, fish, and vegetable -- featuring AMAZING shiitake mushroom -- options) and station of salads which was phenomenal. For our reception, we did family style, and had an entirely vegetarian menu, which even meat eaters said was super flavorful and satisfying. We were so glad we went with Wheelhouse for the whole weekend -- they were so organized, professional, friendly, and calm from the moment they arrived onsite to the venue until they left. On our calls in the months and weeks leading up to the event, and during the event itself, Jake had such a great birds-eye view on space layout, flow of the timeline, etc. and it just felt like the catering element of our wedding weekend went super smoothly. Also, our menu just happened to be mostly gluten free, which we didn't mean to do but was great for some of our guests, Menu highlights were the charred carrot crostini, the beet appetizer bites, the collard green dolmas, the muhamarra, the pickled turnips, and the mixed baby brassicas salad, which was truly the best salad greens I have ever had! We really couldn't have asked for a better experience with a wedding catering team -- 100% satisfied with Wheelhouse. read more

Hiring Wheelhouse Farm was one of the best decisions my husband and I made in planning our wedding. They were simply incredible. We were planning our wedding long distance, and weren't able to fly home to meet with caterers in person - which was certainly a little nerve-wracking. But Jake Mazar helped calm our nerves from the very beginning. He really listened to what we wanted, and he and his team put together a menu that was unique, delicious and fit within our budget. Jake also provided so much guidance and advice as we went through the process, which helped keep us on track. So all that is fantastic, and reason enough to consider Wheelhouse Farm. But the food! Oh my God, the food. Our guests were absolutely raving about their meals. I heard comments like, "If this was a restaurant, I would come back for the food alone," and "Best food I have ever had at a wedding." Everything I ate was amazing - especially the pork and leek dumplings - and the only regret I have from my wedding is that I didn't eat more. And then on top of all that amazingness, Wheelhouse's entire team of servers and bartenders were professional, organized and helpful. Everything ran like clockwork. Oh, and also: the displays all looked amazing. The cheese plates/trays were gorgeous, and the buffet looked incredibly elegant. So basically, Wheelhouse Farm hit it out of the park on every single aspect of the event. I only wish that we lived closer so that we could go to one of their Farm Dinners or visit their food truck. Jake and his team catered my wedding reception for approx. 100 guests on Memorial Day Weekend at my family home in Western Mass. To say that Wheelhouse's services, the team's professionalism, and the quality of the food were all exceptional is a massive understatement, and the value/price of it was unmatched. From the moment I began working with Wheelhouse, they proved to be the best. Jake was attentive, calm, and flexible throughout. All of my interactions with Wheelhouse during the planing phases made me so relaxed and confident that the food and service day-of would be amazing, and they did not disappoint. They created a dream menu that incorporated my family's Italian heritage with our local Western Mass flavors. Literally dozens of guests specifically said the food was "the best they've ever had at a wedding." The staff was diligent about cleaning glasses and plates and making sure the appetizer buffet stayed replenished. They served dinner so efficiently that tables weren't waiting for their food while other tables were already finished eating. Jake, Hillary and the rest of the Wheelhouse team made our dreams come true! We hired them for our farm wedding this past week (8/26/2017) and could not have been happier. We wanted something different than the standard meat, potato and veg for dinner and they did NOT disappoint. The food was AMAZING and all local. Our menu was simple: cheese and charcuterie, fresh salad, empanadas and made to order tacos from the truck. We had a guest list of 150 people (plus vendors) and were initially worried that people would be waiting in line forever or that they wouldn't get enough to eat but boy were we wrong! There was never a line at the taco truck and everyone was filled to the brim but wanted to keep eating because it was so good! Even a week later, people are still talking about the empanadas!! (My personal favorite was the mushroom.) In preparing for the event, Jake and Hillary were professional, attentive to detail, down to earth, and obviously very knowledgeable. They made us feel well taken care of. They even went above and beyond and contacted the company we rented our tent, tables, plates etc. from and made sure we had everything we needed. 12/10 would work with them again and cannot wait to find the truck out and about for lunch the next time we are in the area! Wheelhouse served our family event in Berkshires and they were just awesome! The setup was rather unorthodox: we only had about 40 guests, the place was rented and located two hours away from our base. The logistics were complex, to say the least. We never had such an event before and Jake navigated us through all the steps and pitfalls, catered (this time literally) to all our requests and change-of-minds. Two days before the event we had our final countdown, Jake made us come up with a precise schedule and boy, the team stuck to it! The day of the event he came on earlier, set everything up, brought the rest of the team (smiling, nice, courteous and helpful) arranged the tables, wrote up our menu on a chalkboard, and off we went. The food was prepared on site, specifically for each guest and it was fantastic, seriously, way beyond what you think is possible to squeeze out of a foodtrack. Juicy, savory, salads off a really tasty pallette. At the end of the party, folks disassembled everything, packed all rental stuff, cleaned and and took off - all we had to do that day was to enjoy the party and the compliments from our guests )) read more

Sent last Sunday: "Hello Jake, Thank you for the response (and so timely). Sadly, that is not what we experienced from Wheelhouse last July regarding my son's wedding arrangements for this May. First, his fiancée called and left a vm. By the time her mother (who lives in Florida) was here a few weeks later (to participate in the planning) there had been no response from that vm or one I had subsequently left. Independent of this, I left another vm and even sent an email to your "farm" in the hopes of making contact that way. Crickets...so, my son's fiancé reached out to other caterers and had one booked by the end of the month. I, after an extensive search (Amherst College had changed their graduation date to the weekend my son will be married, so pickings were slim) was able to reserve The Blue Heron for the Rehearsal Dinner. Noticing the recent article about Wheehouse in the local paper brought this all back to mind. I was actually surprised. I assumed that you were no longer in business. Don't even know where to start with Wheelhouse. This team is a bunch of rock stars. They are so passionate about their local food and are super embedded in the community - I was absolutely set on working with them for our wedding rehearsal celebration. They brought their stylish truck to New City Brewery and we had a delicious taco feast. They were so patient with and kind to our guests, and Jake was a dream to work with along the way. It was honestly just such a simple process. I understood the pricing from the start and it was extremely reasonable, the menu was unique and personalized for us, and the ingredients are locally sourced from a handful of farms this crew can name off the top of their heads. I've even been in touch with Jake about some personal career moves because he's a total bad-ass corporate defector and I want to be him when I grow up. Excellent farm-to-table experience, responsive, timely, and worked with different dietary needs! My husband and I had a very non-traditional wedding ceremony at an Adventure Park and we wanted our reception to be just as casual and fun as the ceremony. I found Wheelhouse in a hunt for the perfect food truck at a fair in MA. I loved the way they focused on seasonal ingredients. I worked mostly with Jake Mazar who was everything one could ask for! He was very friendly, always responded quickly, and really worked with us to plan out a meal that would highlight our love of vegetables. Plus, my husband is vegan and my sister in law has a garlic and dairy allergy, but Jake and his team had no trouble working with those parameters. Our guests were nervous about an all vegan menu, but everyone raved about the kimchi tacos, potato wedges with roasted ketchup, and the apple slices with roasted ramps. We hired Wheelhouse Farm to cater my sister's graduation party. They worked with us on developing the menu, giving us in season choices and allowing my sister to come up with her favorites. They then proposed an excellent, local menu. They were completely willing to work with us on licensing with the city where we had the party and were great with communication. On the day of the party, they arrived early, started cooking (which smelled amazing) and we were able to have individuals with food allergies catered to (gluten-free). They were great to work with, they have amazing food, and everyone had rave reviews about the food. It's also very nice that they bring their kitchen with them. Less work for me to do for the party. I was very pleased with the service, the food, and all aspects of our day with Wheelhouse Farm. I highly recommend them. read more

The folks at Wheelhouse are SUPER nice. They catered our elementary school teacher appreciation lunch and were a huge hit with the faculty and staff. Before the event, they worked creatively with us within our budget and were prompt in all their communications with us. During the event, they arrived right on time, were punctual with food orders (key when teachers are on a schedule), served us all delicious food, and everyone at our event could have it because it was *all* gluten-free. Jake and his staff were so kind to everyone. They even took the time after food service to explain how taco trucks work to one of our 3rd grade classes. We can't recommend Wheelhouse highly enough. We couldn't have been happier to have Wheelhouse cater our wedding last August. We got married on a farm and wanted the food to be simple, delicious and local. Wheelhouse delivered in every way! Jake was a pleasure to correspond with via email the months leading up to the wedding. He was thorough and very professional. We opted for the window service instead of the family style service since we were on a budget. We were very pleased with how quickly (~40 minutes) they were able to feed all of our 85 guests! Wheelhouse is amazing!! We booked them for our wedding in June and they catered a beautiful, delicious, farm to table dinner that impressed all of our guests. We received tons of compliments throughout the night, including 'best food I've ever had at a wedding!'. This is a great alternative to standard banquet food and brings local flavor, fresh ingredients and good people/staff to an event. We just hired Wheelhouse Farm Truck for our first Tempest Music Festival at Valley View Farm and they did an abosoultely AMAZING job. We catered a breakfast of made to order speciality breakfast sandwiches, yogurt granola parfait, coffee and juice and everything was delicious. Jake and his staff arrived at 7:00 AM to prep for a 9-11:00AM event. Jake's staff were professional and incredibly kind to our mostly all night music crowd.
