A ridiculous rate. He offered me a rate that I was happy with and submitted it to my bank which they matched. I called back Mark to let him know and he asked me if I was staying with my bank. I said yes and from that point on I was expecting him to discard me right away. Instead, He said he understood and that he would keep in contact with me if there are any changes in the rates. Went to another mortgage broker on Day 13 and were conditionally approved on Day 14 with a premier lender. Would not recommend unless you come pre-approved by a lender - as indicated by Michael - have not signed an offer since he cannot hit the ground at zero - says he needs a week to gather info - he had 10 days with us - and contradicted himself between emails to us and the realtor. This was not only frustrating as he indicates he helps self-employed, bad credit, etc and "is there for you". He was not - he does not work weekends for you as we asked to contact him on the Saturday in reply to his email but said "no he was with his family". Good luck if anyone uses him without having done all of the previous leg work!

We had decided to use a Mortgage Centre agent due to my own personal experiences with a Mortgage Centre client in Fort McMurray. I suppose after several years of listening to all the advantages of using a mortgage broker, it was inevitable. We contacted the Very Best Mortgage Company and worked with Justin Noda throughout the process. Right away, Justin was unbelievably helpful, thorough, and generally a really great guy. That made the experience much better. Through everything, he was very communicative and provided us constant updates. He even let us know when he would be out of town so there were no surprises. In case you don't know, the way a mortgage broker works is that they take your information and submit to several lenders on your behalf. They will then present you with those options and let you choose the right lender for you. Justin was able to secure us a few lenders, of which we chose First National. They had the best rate and the best options (we were looking for a lender that would allow us to make additional payments, should we come into more money). Coincidently, they are the same lender my fiance's parents used. One of the biggest advantages of going through the Very Best Mortgage Company is their experience working with individuals and families in the military. Due to this, we didn't need to meet with them at all during the process. Everything was done through phone/fax/email. Of course, I did pop my head in once just to make sure I was dealing with real people. If you need a mortgage, give them a call and see what they can do for you. It won't cost you anything (the lender pays them) and in my experience it is definitely worth it.
