TL;DR/The Short Version: Hardware store in Place Alexis Nihon. They have a small greenhouse selling indoor plants. The Long Version: I love Place Alexis Nihon because it has both a Winners AND a Marshalls, my favourite stores to shop at, lol. Well, my newest obsession is house plants, so on my on my most recent trip to Place Alexis Nihon, I had to check out this Canadian Tire to see their plant section. I was a bit surprised to see that they have a little temperature and humidity controlled greenhouse. I saw temperature and humidity gauges around and it felt warmer and more humid in there than regular indoor environments. All the other Canadian Tire stores I've been to, just have their plants in an area in their store, but not climate controlled to be different than the rest of the store. Anyway, it was fun poking around. Since I was on vacation and traveling by train, I was limited in what I could buy, so I didn't make any plant purchases, but they had really cute mini Swiss Cheese plants. I love plants with fenestrated leaves but they are mostly huge, but they had small ones here. As you all know, I'm an equal opportunity shopper, lol, I'll look at plants from big box stores as well as small plant boutiques. Before leaving home on the morning of December 26th, I checked the Canadian Tie website to see the business hours. It was clearly indicated in two places that the store was open. I went to the store around 11:00 AM, to find that they only open at 1:00 PM. I called the store to point that out, and the young lady who answered was nonchalant about my complaint. The management of that store lacks competence. read more

I don't usually give five stars to big box type stores, but that doesn't mean I can't, so this will be one of those times that I do. It won't be a five star like a Channel boutique or similar shishi (if I could afford either lol) store for its sheer shishiness - yep, I believe I just made up that word! This five star is related to the various occasions I've asked staff where items are located especially small ones (since they have a lot of items and it's not always perfectly intuitive) and they have all this far been quite polite, respectful, informative -- just easy going and nice. One other stand out moment was when I needed to return something and a manger needed to be called, which could have been a whole to do; but instead yielded a compromise - which was fair - so thank you. So with that, I don't see why I can dole out good marks for tests (or the like) well taken. This big store has a small store mentality or so it seems. read more

Je suis profondément déçu et frustré par ma récente expérience au magasin Canadian Tire de la Place Alexis Nihon, en grande partie à cause de la gestion catastrophique par l'un des superviseurs, Ramón Comprés. J'ai acheté deux chariots de magasinage le 30 juillet 2024 et je les ai retournés le 28 août 2024 dans le même état que lors de l'achat. Cependant, Ramón Comprés a refusé d'accepter le retour, invoquant de manière absurde que les roues étaient sales. Pourtant, c'est exactement dans cet état que je les ai achetés ! Cela démontre non seulement un manque de logique, mais aussi une mauvaise gestion flagrante de la part de Ramón Comprés. Mais ce n'est pas tout : Ramón Comprés s'est montré incroyablement arrogant et condescendant. Il a complètement ignoré mes préoccupations et n'a même pas pris la peine de vérifier correctement les articles. Au lieu de cela, il passait plus de temps à flirter avec ses collègues féminines qu'à gérer les clients et leurs besoins. Ce manque de professionnalisme est tout simplement inacceptable. La mauvaise gestion de Ramón Comprés reflète un grave problème de leadership dans ce magasin. Il est évident que le service client n'est pas une priorité ici, et cela devrait inquiéter quiconque envisage de faire des achats dans ce magasin. As an American visiting Canadian Tire, it's kind of like going to Target. It's amazing all in one, when you skis, sleds, hockey equipment. OK, since they moved a floor down and took over the space which used to be Target and before that, Zeller's it has gotten a lot better than it used to be. Their plant selection is fantastic and reasonably priced. The plants are healthy and won't die on you within a week of buying unlike other places which sell sickly, weak plants and double the cost. That alone is worth 2 stars in my opinion. The layout is far more organized and because there are touch-screen info kiosks now, you can easily look up what you are looking for and go to the appropriate aisle and in many cases bypass the clerks. Maybe because it's a bigger space, they just seem to have better selection of stuff recently. I picked up some funky round, bungee-cord summer chairs which I never saw anywhere else. read more

I still miss the times when Target occupied this location. But at least the new Canadian Tire is nice. It's where I bought my fan. Items are easy to find, prices are good, staff is helpful if you need them, lines at the cash are quick. They even gave me this cool sticker that served as a handle to carry the box with the fan home. read more

Extremely happy that Canadian Tire at Place Alexis Nihon is open & has been open during COVID. Anyone else know about this? I was there last week looking for a helmet and trampoline ( extremely hard to find as everywhere is sold out) I was super impressed the impeccable service the staff provided and the store's cleanliness. I found everything I was looking. After visiting chaotic Costco, it was very refreshing to see a store with such friendly service, happy to help and giving great advice. The store was extremely clean and well organized, again very refreshing. I am trying to support our Canadian businesses especially during these times :-) read more

I bought an armoire in January, before the lockdown. It was delivered and assembled as we had arranged, but the assembler did not do a good job. The doors were not properly aligned and to my dismay, the hinges broke and three of the four doors were stacked next to the armoire, having fallen off. I went in person to the store and explained the situation. The cashier, Destiny, and the manager, Martin Decarie were sympathetic to my situation. Long story short, they are exchanging the unit for one that is properly put together, at no charge to me. Excellent customer service, and I recommend them without hesitation! read more

Every time you walk in there's someone standing there to help you which is perfect as I never know which aisle to head to, love it. The location is pretty big for a mall store. They have a lot of cashew and self serve cashes as well. They don't have many cashiers working so you do wait a little bit. Store it self is clean and staff is friendly and usually in the sections they're supposed to be so you can find whatever quickly. I come to this location more then the others because it's right in the mall downstairs beside the Atwater metro so it's very practical. read more

Initially, upon visiting this Canada Tire store with my mother, I was AMAZED at how large, spacious, well-stocked and well-organized this store was. It blew my Vancouver Canada Tire store out of the water (and I LOVE my Vancouver CT tons!). This store just rocks: SO open and big, so much merchandise, from household organizers, hardware items, cleaners, sporting goods, smaller appliances, some clothing, and more. I just was blown away by this place! But my enthusiasm for this store quickly diminished - and then evaporated entirely - when it came time to pay for our stuff. Only three cashiers were open and we went in the shortest line. Only one person was ahead of us. However, this customer must have been involved with the most complicated transaction known to mankind, as it was taking FOR-EVER, with lots of back-forth discussions. After 10 minutes, the person turned to me and said they were doing "a return" and advised that we go to another line. So my mom and I went to one of the other cashiers. Both the open lines had customers waiting with huge carts full of merchandise to purchase. I'm talking, full to the top. Mom and I had three items to get (a few cleaning brushes). We waited another five minutes in this new line and it didn't move an iota. There were no open express cashes for 10 items or less, and no open self-serve cashes either. We left our items on an end-cap and just left the store. What good is a fabulous store if you can't easily make your purchase? My mother goes to this store often and says she will only go when they open up, first thing in the morning. Perhaps that was my problem: I thought we could go later in the morning, closer to noon. I went to the Alexis Nihon shopping mall for lunch and had a few minutes to kill so decided to drop by this Canadian Tire to see if there was anything on special that I could use. As Canadian Tires go, this one was very good. It was large/spacious, seemed to be well stocked, and clean. On top of that, they had free WiFi inside the Canadian Tire which surprised me. I also didn't have someone trying to push the Canadian Tire credit card(s) on me which happens to me quite often when I go to the Canadian Tire at Place Vertu. I managed to find something on sale which interested me so I picked it up. The line-up to pay at the time that I went wasn't too long either which was a plus. read more

The Canadian version of Big Lots or to Ocean State Job Lot, Canadian tire has everything. Literally. Everything. What are you looking for? Curtains, a new blender and motor oil? Sure, come on by! The staff are very helpful and even went out of their way to help a friend find a coffee carafe that appeared to be out of stock, but really wasnt! I love to walk around and see what they have every time I am here. read more

Wow. I was here today just browsing around. Put down my plastic Starbucks (not disposable that looks similar to their paper) cup down to show my wife something. When I came back it was gone. It's my mother's favorite cup. So I found an employee (Michael) who spent ten minutes with me and on the walkie talkie until he tracked it down in a trash can in the store. This Canadian Tire (Alexis Nihon) recently moved from one floor to another. This means that everything is extra clean, bright, open and organized. The staff were nice enough to allow me to leave my pet fish at the counter while scrounging for cat food and pretty house plants. I'm always a fan of self-checkout. While their new layout has me confused as I used to know exactly where to go for things in the old layout, it certainly has much nicer presentation displays. Overall, definitely an uptick from the last space they had. read more

HORRIBLE customer service. They seem to be perpetually low-staffed. Self-checkout machines don't give you cash back (when given the option) OR canadian tire money OR your receipt--the attendant has to give it all to you and you can bet they screw that up. Good luck. read more

Having staff implies that these people are there to help the customers. This place may have warm(ish) bodies wandering around that disappear when you chase after them to ask a question but they are NOT staff. They have little knowledge of the products and too often have to resort to calling someone over 30 years old to figure out what's going on. Their rudeness at the cash has been truly jaw-dropping. I have never been so insulted in all my life. Regrettably the Canadian Tire on St-Jacques West isn't much better. The only option (if you HAVE to get something at CanTire) is the one on Wellington in Verdun. At least the staff there appears to actually BE staff and have been helpful more than once. read more

Really terrible Customer Service. When I was shopping there on Christmas Eve, I bought 2 lights, one LED and one traditional, just to make sure that I'll have the right colour to match my Christmas tree. No one ever told me all stuff related to Christmas was final sale. When I went back to return the LED light, they told me it was final sale. I explained the receipt shows I bought 2 lights, so I'm not abusing their return policy by using the lights and return it later. Also it's a proof that I was not aware of their policy coz otherwise I wouldn't have bought 2. The answer was their policy has been there for years and there's no need to communicate it to customers on that. The supervisor also refused my request to escalate it to her manager and was clearly impatient, keeps repeating herself. Finally I left that light to them without any refund. Indeed it's my fault, should shop somewhere else. read more

I really want to like Canadian Tire because, you know, Canada! I'd seriously wrap myself in that beautiful red and white flag if it were more fashionable and insulating. I love Canada and tires are cool too I guess but this one Canadian Tire on Atwater in Alexis-Nihon sucks so damn much and not in a good way. I went in there accompanying my partner (who is quite the seamstress) because she was looking for sewing needles and elastic bands. After about five minutes of looking around we decided to ask an employee for some assistance but this person was not sure as to if in fact they did supply the two items we were looking for. No harm, no foul. At this point we split up; thinking we'd cover more ground that way. A few more minutes go by and I see another Canadian Tire employee and decide to try my luck with her - same deal. She didn't know what to say either. Okay, I'm rolling with the punches here. At this point everything is still cool; I didn't even think twice about these two incidents of "I don't know, I just work here" lore. Rebecca and I find each other again and decide to change our strategy - united we stand, divided we fall - surely a united front will get us to what we're looking for. Alas, we cannot find either item. Just as we are about to give up and leave we see a woman shopping with her small daughter. They had found the head honcho of this place! The king of the county. They were talking to the manager about something and we quickly saw and approached and waited to ask him about our thing. As we got nearer and nearer to our turn I could see that he was about to leave without addressing us. He started walking away. The lady with whom he was talking remembered one last thing and tried to ask him where she could find shoelaces. He didn't seem to hear her query so she asked once again. I genuinely thought he hadn't heard her for a second time even though he wasn't too too far away and even though she had (out of necessity) raised her voice just a bit. So I decided to help her get his attention. Now, I am inherently a louder-than-usual person; that's just how I was made. Whispering physically hurts! I was born this way. I'm not loud to be obnoxious or an asshole. No, I'm just naturally loud - don't all you low-talkers get all uppity on your high horses and judge me. Anyway, lest I digress further, I try to get this guy's attention by saying the following at a moderate volume: "excuse me, sir." No response. I say it a little louder: "excuse me, sir." Still nothing. At this point I'm a getting tad dubious but I still believe in the natural overwhelming goodness of humanity and in the unexpected kindness of strangers. I firmly yet benignly shout to him "excuse me, sir, this lady would like to ask you where the shoelaces are." He turned back and looked at me. I looked back at him and smiled as I was successful at getting some help for the four of us. The lady with her daughter smiled and thanked me for bellowing to this gentleman. I smiled back at her. I turned to Rebecca and gave her a reassuring nod as if all our queries were to be fulfilled. She smiled at me and I in turn smiled. But then the frowns start. Martin, the manager expressed displeasure at my heightened volume and quipped that I "didn't need to yell." To which I responded by apologising for raising my voice. I said "sorry" a couple of more times because I'm Canadian and not saying sorry at least the requisite four or five more times is tantamount to telling someone to fuck off and spitting in their eye. He persisted in relaying that I "should not have yelled" at him. So to clarify I said that I didn't think he had heard the lady or me and that I didn't yell but I did raise my voice simply to get his attention. He did not like this and got quite perturbed. He genuinely seemed very upset by this interaction. I didn't think much of it, myself. The lady asked him for the shoelaces and he begrudgingly pointed her in a direction. We then asked about the sewing needles and elastic to which he responded "you yelled at me for that?" I reassured him once again that I was simply trying to get his attention. To which he replied "I don't care." At this point I'm a bit surprised that the manager of Canadian Tire is speaking to me in such a flippant manner. I mean, it's Canadian Tire, they're supposed to be the friendliest customer service people in the country, right? Wrong. Definitely wrong; at least with this guy. I then posit to him the idea that he should mind his customer service manners and be a bit more patient as he is the manager and that we are just looking for two items in his store. I shit you not, this dude replies to me by saying "I don't care about your customer service." He then proceeded to walk away. If he thought I yelled at him before - he was wrong and he found that out the hard way. This time I did yell at him "you're an asshole!" Apparently the customer isn't always right ... at least not at Canadian Tire. Caveat emptor. read more
