The service techs were amazing. They went out of their way to be helpful in a very challenging situation. We stopped by on a Sunday morning with a 24 foot motor home. Dial tires on the back. They couldn't get the rig into the shop but worked on it outside. It turns out that the inside tire was low. They aired the tires and we were on our way. Very friendly and very knowledgeable. Canadian Tire is Canadian, but sells more than just tires, lol. It's like a big box hardware store, but they sell kitchen ware, sporting equipment, toys and also food (mostly snacks like chips and candies. You can't do all your grocery shopping there). My husband and my dad love poking around at Canadian Tire. Me, not so much. But I had to drop off my car at the dealership for service and didn't want to just sit in the lounge to wait for it, so I walked across the street to poke around at Canadian Tire. This one is big and had lots of sales. They also have a clearance section, but it was mostly opened boxes of returned merchandise. Meh. It's big and bright. Staff are friendly. brought my car in for service and left with more damages than I came in with. They left a huge cigarette burn hole in my rear cloth seats, costing around $700-1000 in damages. under the law, they are required to fix/pay for this but somehow they still denied the damages to me and said they are not liable. this whole scenario is not only illegally but horrible for me as it's costing me a lot of money. never ever use this mechanic shop. read more

I've lived in the neighbourhood for 10+ years and have frequented this Canadian Tire almost weekly. The store itself is just like any other Canadian Tire, has everything you need. But the customer service... oof. The two ladies at the return desk have also been at this location for a decade and are miserable individuals. Good luck returning a brand new item in box with receipt and not leaving in tears. While having a dinner discussion with 6 friends, 5 retold their terrible return desk episode at this CT location. This is what compelled me to write a review. Canadian Tire, your return process needs work. More pressingly, consider moving these employees to non customer facing roles. I can't say enough good things about the Canadian Tire on Merivale Rd in Ottawa. My son is going to school in Ottawa and is driving his dad's old car. Twice now I have had to talk over the phone about issues with the car with Cheryl (I hope I have her name right because she is fantastic) the automotive department there has been nothing short of fantastic. Kept me updated on what was happening and very fair pricing. Because I can't be there to take care of the car repairs I am so happy to have such great people to deal with!! Yeah, I was there briefly at closing time the other day, and I noticed all the security eyeing everyone suspiciously and, I'd say, hostilely. They seem to be developing an adversarial relationship with clients, which will bite them in the posterior in the long run. Returning stuff is a hassle; I need to return something I can't get back into the box, and I know they are going to give me a hard time, so much so that I've hired a neighbor to come with me. Think I'll just shop at Walmart; they are super friendly there and returning stuff is a breeze. Or Rona, Home Depot, Costco, etc. Don't need their nasty attitude. read more

Thank you for your patience Wendy, from costumer service. The first snow blower I bought was defective and I only noticed the issue a few hours after the delivery. Your team guided me through the purchase of a better one and replaced the defective product on the next day with no extra charge. I even got a refund for the gas and the oil that I had already used to fill up in the tanks of the first (defective) snow thrower I had purchased. I had brand new wheels, tires and my TPMS sensors installed last March by them and have never had to check the air pressure on these wheels until this March because now I am using the same setup they had installed for me last year but upon checking each wheel all four valve stems are twisting even when I'm just removing the cap to put the air in thus making my tires leak air in each one! It's not leaking from on top but all leaking from where the actual valve stem is secured to the actual wheel so it doesn't turn when you are just uncapping them, the whole unit should not be turning! I contacted Canadiantire about this situation and now they are trying to say I had applied to much resistance on each cap that made each valve stem turn when removing the cap, are you kidding me??? They also said sometimes this happens when you are tightening the cap too much but hey again I HAVE NEVER TOUCHED this cap until today and the ONLY person that has tighten the bloody cap was their own mechanic from the first install! They all knew it was a bogus service job and this is something the manager should've said "Hey we'll take care of this job" because we messed up regardless of the time frame because having 4 leaking tires can KILL someone especially if they didn't know of the circumstance. They also tried saying that since they didn't see any TPMS & valve installation on record they can't even help me??? Really, so in another words they are saying we just installed your tires on your new wheels and that was it??? With no valve stem or TPMS sensors, god they must really think we are stupid and assume that you can get air into your tires without a valve stem and drive away safely huh? I hope that the manager see's this review as this is one job you need to own and take care of a badly secured or cheap valve stems that they have used! Update March 17 2019 I had a mobile service come to the house and after seeing how it was installed the TPMS sensors were not 100% threaded into each valve stem and the valve stems itself had partial tears from the main joint of the valve stems and this explains the leakage in each one! Compared to the new valve stems this mobile guy is using to CT the quality is 200% better and it fits snug where you can't even turn the valve stem if you wanted too, it's the way it's suppose to be! If not 1 but 4 valve stems have worn off in less than 8 months of them installing it this obviously tells you something, they are using cheap valve stems! and if this is happening to me I'm pretty sure it's going to happen to others who go there to have their new wheels and tires installed! Update March 19 2019 Contacted Canadiantire Corporate Office and same bullshit. Their reply was just a scripted reply and nothing personal from Steve C, what a douche-bag who can't take 2 minutes to reply to a simple email and correct an issue that was clearly theirs! read more

I bought two tires for the rear of my Kia Sedona had to first fit to get it into the store cause they kept saying they didn't have time to do a simple replacement on the two garbage tires they sold me on September 5 and by November they were worn out I had to go to Canadian tires head office and fight with them to get them to send it in I went there at 8 am on December 2 2020 and got in just to have them say it's a alignment issue in the rear of the van as i am mechanic i knew they would try and pull it so as i told the guy it was a default in the tire they said they would not replace the tires and said they are voiding the warranty on the tires they sold me then i went over to Hunt Club kia and was on the phone with Canadian tires head office and was standing with the head Mechanic at Dilawri Kia and the lady from the head office from Canadian tire and she heard the head Mechanic there say it's not a alignment issue but a tire issue as i was start to take the van back to the dealership who has done the work on it as it was in less then a month before and they do a inspection of all vehicles when they bring them in there was no problems with this vehicle and as the head mechanic said to the lady from Canadian tire it's a tire issue and not a alignment with the van but tire issue now i have to sit and wait again for the head office to deal with it and had to indured there service manager Dave being a rude ignorant man i will never buy tires from them ever again i requested just to give me the tires or a refund as i now have to buy tires fore the rear of the van cause they do not honor the warranty and work man ship nor anything else they say so we ended up getting ripped off by this store at Merivale and Hunt Club in Ottawa store number Nepean Crossroads Centre, 1820 Merivale Rd, Nepean, ON K2G 1E6 avoid buying tires from this store read more

I had a tow hitch installed on my SUV at Canadian Tire on Merivale/Hunt club. I dealt with Lisa at the Auto service dept. Prior to starting the work she indicated that the cost will be 1-1.5 hrs, based on the actual time it takes to install the hitch. I was watching the process and it took approx 25 minutes, end-to-end. When the vehicle was returned to me I was very surprised to find that I was charged 1.4 hrs for labor. When I brought it back to Lisa she got very aggressive and confrontational and said that they normally charge for 2hrs! I did not agree and confronted her with the facts (i.e. it took only 25 mins). She eventually reluctantly agreed to charge me for 1 hr labor. Next time I am going elsewhere! read more

Bought an item from them but a day later I saw the same item sold much cheaper price in Gatineau within 15km. I showed the bill to them and asked for matching price. They refused and said the other store was not local. For sure I returned item on next day. While the store Rona had no issue of matching the price. Made the fatal mistake of thinking I could save time getting a safety inspection instead of driving farther and to an actual mechanic shop. Got the call saying " I failed the safety inspection by .1mm of break pad rubber" without missing a beat they tried to get my approval for full replacements for 600$. I went to an actual mechanic and they passed the brakesbut would so replacethem for 250$. Over 300$ cheaper. Hello! I am someone who had an absolutely horrible year health wise and had somewhat lost faith in society, however this Canadian Tire automotive department and the employees here have actually helped to restore my faith in people and are absolutely terrific!!!! Yesterday I was helping a friend bring 8 of her cats to the Humane Society as she has a big heart and has taken care of these animals even though she probably shouldn't be so we decided to load them in my car yesterday. Upon leaving the Humane Society after dropping 7 cats we discovered that we had an eighth one still who somehow got himself stuck behind the radio under the dash. We arrived at this Canadian Tire to try to get help as I love animals and could not imagine how scared this poor animal is and wanted to save him no matter what. This store and the employees of the automotive department not only helped save the animals life, one of the employees who lost his cat a few days earlier kept this cat and brought him home. They did not charge me for their services and have restored my faith in society. Everything happens for a reason and "Dash" I am so glad they saved you!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! I tried to recycle motor oil at this CT center but the auto shop manager refused to accept it because they "did not have time"! It was just this Saturday. I brought the oil in my oil pan, not in bottles because I was told over phone that I could just dispose of it in one of their big containers. The container was under lock and key and the manager refused to go around to the back of the garage with me invoking all kind of excuses. He was probably not in the mood or simply lazy. After shopping at this store for years, I'll never shop there again. They hired "outside expertise" regarding security who, it seems, has trained the staff to assume all customers are thieves and they must prove they're not. First the clerk took an enormous amount of time scrutinizing a whole $1-off coupon I had. She read it, re-read it, turned it over, read the back, turned it over and read it again. I don't know what she was looking for, since the expiry date and redemption address were both clearly marked. I had bought 3 large plastic drawer units that were precariously stacked in the cart. She then said she had to "see in the drawers to make sure there's nothing in them." One of them I opened and proved it was empty (though it shouldn't have been - it was missing the casters that should've been included); the other two were taped shut and I told her so. She just stared. I swear, if she'd made me untape and open them to prove I wasn't stealing anything, I would've canceled the transaction and left right then. When I wrote to complain about the experience, the reply from the owner was decidedly unapologetic. He stated that they treat ALL their customers the same way and have trained their staff to be "alert regarding shoplifting, professional theft and internal theft." The implication is clear that the cashier thought I fit the profile of someone who might be a shoplifter or professional thief. What that was, I don't know, since I've spent thousands of dollars at this store and have never stolen ANYTHING - there, nor anywhere else. Maybe it was my dark skin (I seriously doubt that, but I can't help wondering). I just know I won't be going there again. There's a Rona right next door, after all, and the entire Merivale strip full of stores, so who needs this epitome of "Crappy Tire"??? read more
