We're currently on a 2-week road trip through the Maritimes with 3 other couples. We picked up our 4 RVs in Elmsdale outside Halifax. The staff made very sure we understand everything, including all the penalties. The 2019 24' RV (built by Forest River) is an excellent unit, with all the latest technology. Unfortunately Canadream kit them out with the absolute minimum. No levelling steps (chocks) or level gauges. Also no remote for the TV, no milk jug or sugar pot, etc. When we got to our first stop in Lunenburg, we discovered that our privacy curtain was nowhere in our RV. I called the office the next morning first thing, and spoke to Holly. She promised to find out if there is a replacement one and to call back, but I never heard from her again. It's impossible to be inside an RV in the evenings with no privacy curtain, so we made a plan with a table cloth... read more

A minute ago Beware of the "specials"!! Don't do it. Not a good experience! The constraints on the 'special' price RV were ridiculous. 2000 km from Enfield Nova Scotia to Brampton, NW of Toronto, meant that we could not deviate from the TransCanada highway for more than 125 km. We barely had enough mileage to go off highway to the RV parks [usually 5 to 10 km off the road]. We also had to get the RV back in 7 days, which seems fine until you find out that you can't pick it up until mid- afternoon [we arrived at 1:00 for a 1 to 4 pick up time, and didn't leave til 2:30 -- we had to watch a 20 minute video and wait for an agent to introduce us to the RV]. No details were given on how to drive, such as drive slower [thereby using more time on the road], how to use the radio/camera/video screen, how to use the other radio, etc. Not only that, we had to return the vehicle to Brampton between 8am and 10 am. We didn't find that out until we called ahead to report the problem of the blinds. When I said it's virtually impossible to cross Toronto in a guaranteed time at that time of day, the agent in Calgary told me that some people stay in a nearby Walmart parking lot in order to get there on time! We had a 'special' rate for a one-way 'repositioning' of an RV from Halifax to Toronto. We knew that we could be given one of 3 models. Judging from the pictures on the website, we thought it would be ok. We ended up with a 30 foot RV. It was well laid out but missing the main blind in the bedroom. Imagine our shock when we set up the bedroom for the night. Then another blind got stuck, so it flapped all the time we were driving. The staff were very friendly when we picked it up, but when returning it, not so much. They said we'd turned on the generator, which we hadn't. It was the person in the NS office who turned it on to check it before we left! They did deduct that from the charges, but we had to argue and I was already stressed at having to drive only on the main highway. The gas cost over $700 because we were driving one of their largest models. So saving $700 on the rental is not worth it. You'll spend it on gas, stress, and more expensive RV sites as you need a drive through site. If you want to use Canadream, pay the price up front! Get exactly what you want and you'll probably have a good experience. Allow lots of extra time for driving a little slower and buy extra kilometers than you think you need so you can get to some of the nicer campsites. read more

Will NEVER rent again from them, beware of your money and look to rent elsewhere, their damage policy and conduct is below ridiculous. they do not maintain their vehicles properly and then expect you to carry the damage costs. we had a driver's side mirror fall off during parking with no one touching it, simply fell off as-is, did not brake and all parts where returned, yet they charged us over $450!!! did not provide any documentation to explain what was wrong and did not take responsibility over their fault, there was no accident or 3rd party involved at all. nevertheless, their response came long after the 60 days promise (where they hold $750) and only after i asked i got the response and the credit for the remaining balance. not to mention the manager's response is a 3rd grade level response not providing any information just playing like a broken record the things i've already heard. bottom line - DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!! read more

This place sounds like a joke valid concerns were brought up by a customer and like all company's someone is quick to answer with all the greasy loop holes and the things that you signed off on. Not taking into consideration that people may just sign off as things being excellent because there sick of some moron rambling on and on about something you already know or that there is tin foil over the mess in the oven things like that. Seems as though they could care less about repeat customers just want to grab your cash and send you packing. If I were to rent again I would take a dump on the floor of the rv maybe then my customer service issues would be addressed. I wonder what the clean up cost would be for feces on the floor would be? This company nickles and dimes you to death with exorbitant charges. Halifax Canadream charges your credit card $1,000 for potential damage at pick up. You are told when at pick up if the vehicle is returned without damage you get it back. That is not true. Without any invoice they remove gas $ you may or may not owe, generator use or extra kilometers on only their word. It is not mutually agreed upon. I took the vehicle with 3/4 tank full. I returned it with a 3/4 tank full. I told the manager that fact as my belief. He looked at the computer and said that is fine. He never told me their records had the vehicle at full on pick up (which we dispute and have a photo to prove). So I was charged $150 for $25 worth of gas. Also no bill or email of any kind was ever sent until I called them 2 weeks after they charged my credit card asking for an invoice of the extra charges. Properly you should be informed if there is a discrepancy between what you and Canadream records show. I could have filled the vehicle for $25 and not been hit with a 600% markup. Customer service at Halifax is non-existent. After going over the vehicle and taking care of everything other than driving away, we had an emergency and needed to return to our hotel. We would potentially be a few minutes late to take the vehicle. We were told they close at 5PM. The lot will be locked and won't be opened until the next morning. So much for "hospitality" in the hospitality business. Comparing notes with other Canadream renters at 12 Nova Scotia RV parks the unanimous feeling was Canadream is awful. One RV'r told me he had a flat tire and Cruise Canada stayed 2 hours for him to pick up his vehicle. 2 weeks after drop off $380 was taken from the $1000 without a conversation, email, anything. You don't want your vacation memory to be feeling robbed. Go elsewhere. You have been warned! read more

although the Camper itself was nice we had several problems the screen doors broken we couldn't use them the toilet broke it was broken we couldn't use it we try to get a hold of customer service and they really weren't a whole Lotta help telling us that we would have to wait and see at a later date what might be able to be compensated when we return the van we were not met by any sort of friendliness whatsoever the woman Stephanie Carnes was quite rude and I really wouldn't recommend this company. read more

Deleting negative Posts is not the right way to work on customer complaints, nor not being able to find the customer in the booking system! Shame on you! Chosing this company you will be passed from employee to employee if there are questions. For instance adding an additional driver on a daily basis might be possible according to the employee, the next one keeps telling it is not. Staff is rather trimmed on the sale of additional insurance and so it might happen that the supposed transfer of a rental vehicle will take more than 2 h. The transfer shuttle, if the employee (sometimes without name tag) is only available if you bring the appropriate waiting time. Because of these facts you quickly lose important holidays or rental period. Better to switch to another provider, which is then even cheaper. Just returned from a weeks vacation in a Canadream RV. PICK UP was in YVR and drop off of the RV was in Calgary. The RV itself was fantastic. Great condition and we had no problems with it at all. I would warn that the company will not work with you at all for pick up times. We were flying in from Toronto to Vancouver and wanted to pick up the RV as close to 1 as possible. The company tried to charge us an additional $375 for a pickup between 10 and noon. I wasn't even paying that price nightly for the RV. We arrived into Vancouver on our flight from Toronto at 9:30 am and CanaDream would not release the RV to us until 4pm. We weren't out of their parking lot till after 5. While I understand their mass amounts of people they deal with you really didn't feel like the company had any interest in helping you so just be warned the RV is most likely no available till after 4pm. They also handed it over with less than 1/4 tank of gas which meant another stop prior to making it to our destination in the dark on the first night. The upselling of just about everything is aggravating too. Windshield protection, extra insurance, cleaning charges, even toilet paper and lav chemical. I mean really I think they wanted $150 to clean the RV on my return. Thanks but I'll buy a $5 tube of wipes. Return in Calgary was very efficient but they tried to pin a few stains on the driver and passenger seats on us. We had to point out in our pre inspection that these stains were already there. Took a bit for the gentlemen doing the inspection to finally find it. So ensure you point out everything interior and exterior during your preinspection as they go over everything with a fine tooth comb. We also pre purchased the 800km additional package but only used 500km of it. Yes they forewarned us that there was no km refunds but there again it's just another feeling which doesn't sit well with your customers. So just pay by the Km's unless you're absolutely sure you're going to go over by a significant amount. The price savings buying the +500km and +800km are not that great compared to what they charge per km. Would I rent from Canadream again? Maybe but I'd just be all the wiser to their "ways". Once you're off their parking lot it's a pretty amazing experience with a great RV. read more

Like other reviews, had a terrible experience. Tons of extra costs, rude staff, and the RV was not in good condition when we got it (doors swinging open/broken lock for example). We were also promised multiple things in writing by email that were not delivered. We were promised a 4 person bike rack but when we got there they only had one two person left. We had to wait 2 and a half hours after the pick up time to get our RV. This is just a small list of things that went wrong. I wish I read the reviews before choosing them. read more

Great Staff greeted us in Vancouver and were very thourough with the prep and review of our RV. Made sure we had the necessary maps for our travels to Calgary and we were on our way in no time. We rented a RV from Canadrean N.S. Canada for 3 weeks from July 18, 2017 to August 8, 2017. This was suppose to be our honeymoon trip. Just before we were to fly in to Helifax to pickup RV there was a family emergency. We contacted Canadream to notified them that we would not be able to pick up the RV on July 18th but would be there a few days late. We explain the situation to them and since we had paid the full amount up front we we told that they would hold the vehicle for us. On July 20th we contacted Canadream to let them know that we would be flying into Helifax the next day to pickup the RV. We were informed that they had rented the RV to another party and they cancelled our reservation. Due to Canadream's actions, they have cost us the amount of the RV rental, the cost of the airline tickets, 2 nights hotel accommodations and transportation from N.S. to NFLD. We have contacted Customer Service to discuss the issue and return of funds. They have provided no solution but only past us from one office to the next. Canadream should not be able to rent the RV to another party when it was already paid for in advance. They have not only caused us stress but financial hardship by not returning loss funds to us. After many weeks of trying to resolve the issue, we have no option left but to take them to Small Claims Court. We are now in the process of doing just that. read more

4 of us rented the large rv with canadream we used it to get from vancouver to Calgary the deal was good at first and looks good until the fine print is read all these hidden costs that should be included and aren't for example the cleaning of the unit is not included they actually made me scrub the oven when we arrived probly somebody else's baked on crap that they just had tinfoil overtop of, when we left vancouver the hubcap flew off after the third turn and I tried to tell them it was there fault they charged us 80 for that, also the generator is not included with this rental they charge you 100 to just fire it up, toaster rental, chair rental, coffee maker rental, no joke This company needs to stop nickle and diming customers if they want more repeat customers, also they expect you to camp on paved areas only, which in my opinion is not camping at all, also the ford power plant in these units is guttless and barely made it up these mountain passes on hwy 3 guzzling high amounts of fuel a diesel powerplant would cut fuel costs big time and more power. I reccomend canadream re evaluate there business strategy and tweak a few things to make it an overall better experience for customers. Ps.. check the floor there was a piece of plastic that was left from before us and cut one of the girls foot open. read more

Was not even 1 hour into our trip when things went down hill. Stepped down onto a piece of plastic and cut my foot. Only if we brought them hospital documentation would they take any responsibility for it. You think you get a good deal, then you read the fine print. $10 to rent a lawn chair, $12 to rent a toaster. $100 just If you turn on the generator. Needed to drop it off on Sunday to return to work on Monday that's an extra $350 for a Sunday drop off. We were about an hour away from picking the rv up when we saw a hub cap fly off. We did stop and search but could not find it. Of course charged for that $90... For something we were not at fault for. 5 minutes to go through the rv when you first pick it up. Did not think much of it but its a different story when you drop it off. All of a sudden they are finding random scratches with their hour review. They treat you like dumb tourists who have never drove a vehicle before. read more

Just returned from a 23 night rental with a 21 foot camper van from Canadream in Calgary. Put over 3600 miles on it! Check in was great, got a good "tour" of the van and how it all worked and drop off was easy and no issues. Deposit for "issues" was promptly refunded in full. Went over our mileage allotment and the payment was as expected. Got the pkg for linens and kitchenware which was very worthwhile. Also got the pkg for glass coverage and the ability to turn the van in without much cleaning and not having to empty the tanks. All in all, would rent from them again and highly recommend them. read more

I've experienced better may not be the best option but A-Ok doesn't fit. We had a nice time camping and once the RV was parked it really was beautiful. There are just too many reasons not to rent though. For one, it is way to expensive. We only wanted the RV for 5 nights but were told we had to pay for 7. That doesn't make sense to me. We brought it back 2 days early and paid for 7. The website didn't make that clear. It said if you want to book for less then call them. You call them so they can tell you it has to be 7 days. Gas is expensive for it. The drive is not smooth. It's actually quite scary. When we went to pick the RV up the woman was very friendly and helpful but they proceed to nickel and dime you for a half hour with the options you could buy for three extra dollars per night. At the price we paid it seemed ridiculous. I realize they are trying to run a business and the cost would be high for maintenance but per night is about the price of a high end hotel for two nights. This was on our bucket list and I'm glad we rented one but for the same price we could have gone South for a week as a couple all inclusive. Just returned from 2 weeks campervan rental with Canadream out of Halifax, Nova Scotia. This was our third booking with Canadream and each time it has been excellent. We had a 2015 model which was brilliant and one small issue was quickly rectified by a quick phone call. They could not have been more helpful. If you read the booking form so that you know what you are getting, there are no surprises and everything was exactly as described in the brochure. Excellent! read more

I would not trust this company with renting a lawn chair. The contract ius long and favours only them, and they will charge you for every little thing you use or do or places you go. They will charge for damages you may have misses at pickup as your excited to go and even though they see it will not point it out. There have been pets in several of the units, despite them saying they do not allow this, same as smoking. I neither smoke or have pets and my allergies went off like crazy. When we called we were assured it could not be that when those are my only two (tested by doctors). They refused to allow us to exchange motor homes, or offer a refund (after 1 day). We ended up with an issue with our batteries and they wanted us to travel 350 km to their service station and offered no compensation. Once we got there this little man made the comment of how dumb can a person be, that cant tighten a bolt. I did not realize this was my job. I thought I was to drive and enjoy. We are from Holland and want everyone to know we had a horrible experience with this company. What was to be $2600 turned into almost $6000 by the time they charged us for extra mileage and such (which was their fault) Save your money and book with someone else... read more
