Located right on the river, the store has a great water view. It clearly used to be an old-fashioned motel, and the owner told us she operated it as a motel for a while before converting it to an antique store. Now, each door opens into a suite with different themes of collectibles and knick-knacks. I liked all the truly antique stuff: old medicine bottles, circa-1930s postcards, wooden glove boxes, and crystal doorknobs. Mixed in with it, though, is a lot of modern stuff that looks more like it belongs at a garage sale -- Avon tchotchkes, scented candles, and Pyrex dishes. However, it's crammed so full with everything jumbled together that you'll want to take your time looking over the shelves so you don't miss any treasures. The owner was friendly and it's an interesting place to poke around (plus there are lots of candy dishes around, since she's a grandma). The prices seemed a bit high, but then I'm always reluctant to haggle, so a more aggressive bargainer could probably score a better price. It's worth a visit if you're in South Bend.

Store is crowded so I opt not to take my kids in with me but we did have a toddler with us on the weekend and I just held him for my friend while she shopped. I would Much rather shop at the thrift stores in the area that sell things for actual used prices. Newlife fellowship just around the corner from ugly eds has better deals. And in south bend you can find grace community thrift store also a great place to by pre owned items. Ugly eds is trying to sell furniture at the price it was originally paid for 20 years ago! I bought a set of matteresses for 200 dollars and when I got rid of them the man who picked them up said "these are older then me!" He was not a young fellow either. Said he could tell by the color and pattern that they were from 1960's! Totally not worth 200 dollars! Broken down and old! When I bought them I had no idea how bad I had been ripped off. Besides that, the women who works there is not overly friendly or helpful. And you will need help finding anything in that mess of a store! And I have live in the area for over 15 years and I have never seen this "ugly Ed" person.

They've taken advantage of every square inch of the building, with chairs, art, etc hanging from the ceilings throughout. It's really a fun, interesting place to wander through. I can't speak to service as there was one other customer inside who was speaking with the operator the whole time, so we weren't greeted or addressed as we wandered (we weren't needing help anyway, just checking things out).

Many different items/ booths to wander, some curated, some raw, all equally can hold a buried treasure somewhere.
