Husband and I stopped in here yesterday on our anniversary roaming around day. Heather, the owner, is just as nice and helpful as can be, and the shop is a delight to browse in. I loved the ocean decor (and you can see the river and boat harbor just outside the back door). Heather loves to support Indie dyers, and the shop reflects that love. She also carries commercial yarn. There's a roving room as well, with luscious braids of fiber. There are also previously owned spinning wheels looking for homes...at reasonable prices. I wish I could've stayed longer; Husband was relaxing at the bookstore next door (an awesome place, too), and it gave me more time to shop, but we wanted to go driving on the beach, and didn't want to run out of daylight. There's a knitting area with comfy chairs, magazines and patterns for sale, and the shop is light and bright. Heather was very helpful and friendly; I appreciated that she showed me around and then left me to browse on my own without hovering. Purly Shell Fiber Arts (I LOVE that name!) is wheelchair accessible, too. It's a sweet yarn shop and worth stopping in if you're in the area. I loved this shop!!! The people working there were very helpful and welcoming. Their well behaved rescue dogs relaxing about so it was just my type of place. They had beautiful quality yarns and fiber. Hand spun and hand dyed options. I couldn't resist some very reasonably priced baby alpaca blend. This shop is awesome! So glad I found it on a recent trip to Washington. They dye their own wool roving, which I will be using for needle felting projects. The owners are a mother/daughter team who both make you feel at home as soon as you walk through the door. Great LYS and great owners. I thought I recognized the owners from Black Sheep Gathering in Eugene - now Albany and I did. Think the pirate ladies! Fun shop, roving, yarns, knitting, crochet and felting supplies.They source a lot of their fiber locally and raise their own angora rabbits. I drove over from Seaside, OR, went through Astoria and took the Astoria Bridge over the water into Washington. Beautiful drive and you end up at locally owned YARN STORE! What could be better? Go meet these fabulous women, chat a while, and they'll give you restaurant tips too! I was temped by some yarn; they have so many gorgeous choices but ended up back at my condo with 'vacation' roving. I'll be spinning something new tonight. Thanks my Pirate friends! read more
