I would recommend this place. As a newbie in the candle making world it was nice to find a place to shop scents in person. They have so many scents and the women behind the counter were very patient and knowledge since I had many questions. Im seeing people say they are a bit pricey which i think is debatable depending on the quality and quantity you are shopping for but again shopping in person has a sense of convenience when you are buying scents for the first time so it was worth it to me. read more

I love that this location gives you the ability to shop in person. The prices tend to be higher here though than other suppliers so it is not my main supplier. They also can be a bit slow when checking out/picking up your order. So yes it's great to be able to shop in person but there are some trade offs. read more

Ok, first off my review/complaint isn't with the company's products, its with the price they charge for shipping, it's outrageous. I was charged $18.24 for a $60 order of scented oil, which consisted of 3 - 8oz. bottles. The entire package weighed less than 2 pounds and was shipped USPS Priority Mail. So, I took the package that was sent to me with the contents in it and asked my local post office, how much to mail it back to where it came and the cost was $10.75 ! I have been ordering from Candles & Supplies for over 20 years and have always been shocked by the price they charge for shipping. read more

I should start out by saying that I am a big fan of the show "How It's Made". You know, basically short descriptive training films broadcast on TV. I love seeing how different things are made, and I love how randomly they put them together. "Today on How It's Made: Ball Bearings, Matches, and Cranberry Sauce!" Recently, I watched an episode showing how they make carved candles. It was super cool, and I remembered how much I loved seeing these candles growing up, with their stripes of color and cool curlicues and such. I am a class-taker, I enjoy learning new things, and I make a goal of learning one new crafty thing a year at least. Last year it was upholstery. After seeing the show, I wondered if those candles were made around here, and could I go see it? BETTER. I found I could go to Candles & Supplies and take a workshop on how to make one MYSELF. Woot! So I packed up the Young 'Uns and we headed off to Quakertown, having called first to schedule a workshop. The place itself is situated in a nondescript industrial park right on PA 663, halfway between the Northeast Extension and PA 309. We arrived to a retail-warehouse shop full of different candle making materials. We were greeted reasonably quickly and ushered into a classroom. Our instructor was friendly, patient and supportive as we each got to make one candle. It was really quite fun! I was really happy that they give you a well & wick for lamp oil instead of having a wax core, so you never do melt the beautiful carving and you can burn it for years. Price was quite reasonable for the class. We really enjoyed the outcome and have been admiring our handiwork. They were very pleasant and supportive people who I am sure would enable..I mean support..this hobby with no problem, or any candle making, really. Classes are 'by appointment' however the retail store is open regular hours with lots of cool stuff to check out. read more

This place does have an amazing amount of choices for candle scents, dyes, wax, etc. We use this place as our main supplier. The staff is all very helpful too. The only down side is the shipping, and this is a big downside. They say it goes by weight, but we ship our candles out that weigh more than what scents weigh, and we charge half the shipping cost. We live far away so we use shipping frequently, and we have paid between $14-40 in shipping costs which is outrageous. They do overcharge on the shipping, it is a higher rate than USPS, UPS, or Fed Ex. They also need to get better hours, like nights or weekends because most of us work during the hours they are open. I placed an order for my shop, I wanted to make sure I was making the best business decision so ordered multiple fragrances from multiple different vendors as a type of head to head comparison. From all vendors I ordered (4) 1oz bottles of each fragrance. As it is easier for my employees to skip the weighing out process and know each unit is 1oz. With CandlesAndSupplies.com I had to pay extra to have them in individual 1oz bottles. I thought ok, I'll give it a try. Once my order came in I found the fragrance was not in the agreed upon 1oz bottles that I had paid extra for but they had been sent in 4oz bottles. As well as them being sent in the wrong bottle size, the bottle was visibly cheap which compromised the integrity of the seal which was clearly leaking fragrance. What I found interesting is that every one of these cheap bottles had electrical tape wrapped around the lid (see picture) in a most unprofessional and tacky way which tells me they know the bottles are cheap and leak. I'm not the type to look past the concept that mistakes happen so I reached out to the company by phone. I politely explained what had happen and awaited some remedy with a gesture of understanding in the situation they had put myself and my shop in. The only remedies I was offered was for them to send me empty 1oz bottles for myself or my employees to do the work of measuring out to the sizes I ordered in which I had already paid candlesandsupplies.com to do since there is a price difference between buying single oz bottles and 4 oz bottle. OR send them back to the company and wait 3 business days (and its Friday now, which means I won't see products in hand until the end of next week at best) thus exceeding my deadline that I've given my customer, punishing both myself and my company for choosing to do business with candlesandsupplies.com. I'd also like to note that out of all the vendors I ordered from this was significantly the most expensive and with the cheap bottles/electrical tape and terrible customer service, it was the worst quality order I've ever received and the most clear example of bad/selfish business practices. I wish they would've been the company they portrayed themselves to be... sadly they just are not... clearly they have no interest in earning or keeping my business, since it was asking too much to simply give me what I paid for or offer a remedy to the situation that didnt involve punishing myself and my shop for doing business with them. read more

Their product isn't too great. The oils seem very diluted. The shipping fees are enormous. The scents aren't very distinct at all.

This company continues to amaze me with their very personalized one-on-one customer service. I've been ordering candle supplies from them for over a year now, and each time, my order is expedient, accurate, and executed with the utmost care. I always receive a verification e-mail for my order within the same business day. Orders are shipped quickly--and a courtesy e-mail is sent when my order has been sent out, as well. Also, if I ever have a question (since I'm relatively new to candle-making--and I have A LOT of questions), someone is ALWAYS available to answer me; whether it's through a Facebook message, e-mail, or a phone call. For instance; they're not open for business on the weekends, but if I send them a Facebook inquiry on a Saturday or Sunday, I hear from them right away. If they're out of something I want to order (which isn't very often), they let me know--and offer to order it FOR me (and then ship it). They will also notify me when this transaction occurs. This way, I'M not the one who has to keep checking back in to see if they have the product I'm looking for, in stock. They'll do it all FOR me. Going the extra mile for the customer is what THIS company is all about. It always makes me feel like I'm their top priority. These folks are in Pennsylvania--and I'm in Georgia.
