Please DO NOT live here unless you wanna hate your home, feel completely unsafe, and gaslit constantly. First of all, the cockroaches are insane. I'm from a developing country and I have NEVER had to deal with this much of an infestation in my LIFE. Have called and called the leasing office and they just brush me off. THE A/C DOES NOT WORK!!!! Everytime I call the front desk to talk to them about the issue they tell me "WE LIVE IN TEXAS and it's hot outside" WAS I CONFUSED AS TO WHERE I RESIDE??? NO. DID I THINK IT WAS COLD OUTSIDE?? NO. However there is no reason the A/C CAN NOT go below 80 degrees inside, even at night. AND because the A/C is constantly trying to cool, our electric bill is $300. 7 BEDROOM HOUSES DO NOT EVEN PAY THAT MUCH. Also somehow there is no lights in the main rooms of the house. Bedroom??? No lights, living room??? Nope. There are holes in all the walls which all the roaches have made their home. The doors don't even close really well and there's so much space that bugs will just welcome themselves into your home without any trouble. The BATHROOM TILE AND BATHTUB IS PAINTED WHITE.... PAINTED!!!! You know what happens when paint gets constantly wet??? IT PEELS and trust me it looks disgusting. Oh and don't forget about the dishwasher..it's so loud it could get its own noise complaint from the police. The ladies in the front office will constantly gaslight you about your issues and just not do anything in the end. And don't get me started on Roxanne, she is literally the worst to deal with. She will hang up on you mid sentence, so incredibly rude, and is absolutely the worst customer service person I've ever had to deal with. I will say the ONLY thing good about this god forsaken place is Cassandra and the two maintenance guys. They're all very pleasant. This place is something out of a nightmare. The toilet in the front bedroom had such low water pressure it took an hour(s) to fill after a flush! Put in a maintenance request on Monday and early Tuesday morning Larry was here to diagnose and fix the problem. Larry is a SUPER guy and I know that when he shows up the problem will be taken care of and the place where maintenance was needed will be left the way he found it (he leaves NO mess for ME to clean up!) or better than he found it. Hi I'm leaving a review as my last resort to get in contact with Michelle bc I've asked the front office 3 times for your contact info and was not given it. I was sent an email saying a mandatory unit inspection was going to be done on 9/11 at 11am for my building only which I had no problem with at all, I have a dog that has bolted out the front door and wanted to be here to tend to my animal for this reason. 12pm rolls around an no one has come so I call and they say they'll be here in 20 mins..then 30 mins rolls around and I call again they don't answer bc they've gone on lunch break. No one ended up showing up which was frustrating as I had to get my shift at work covered to be here. Very upsetting! Then a week goes by and me and my bf (who also lives with me) go to the front office to talk to Roxanne and we find out that she did the home inspection on a day not to our knowledge (while we were both at work) and threatens to put a violation on us for a "marijuana smell" coming from our unit.. we both have jobs that REQUIRE us to be drug free so not only were we insulted and offended but we were mad that our dog could've bolted out the door and run into the street that is right next to us and we would've not known bc we weren't home. No written notice was left after Roxanne left our unit stating that she had entered which breaks your policy on our contract we signed when moving in. We do not feel safe or respected. WORST place I've ever lived! Maintenance was just cover up jobs never really fixed the problems. After a month of living here I noticed mold coming through the wall paint, checked inside the air vent and there was caked on mold for farther than I could see. I could not wait to move out. Had a crazy neighbor that lived underneath me that resulted in me having to evacuate my apartment at 9pm with cops surrounding my building. Where do I even begin with this place? I've been here about a year while I've been in school and it has been the worst complex I've lived in since I moved here 5 years ago. The gate doesn't work so there are homeless people raiding the dumpsters at all hours of the day. The propane grills never had propane and when they did they wouldn't turn on. The pool was always closed or so disgusting you wouldn't want to swim anywhere near it. My ac was out about a month before maintenance got around to fixing it. I don't know if you're familiar with Texas but a month without ac is not ideal to say the least. And don't even get me started on the roach infestation that is rampant in these filthy old buildings. Candlewood would do pest control upon request and it was never enough to completely rid my apartment of roaches. I have four other college aged friends who live in this same complex and all four have agreed that moving in here was a HUGE mistake. The rent here will set you back about 1,000 dollars a month NOT including your utilities (ac and wifi). To top all this off they charged me 450 dollars upon move out for "carpet and pad replacement" on top of my final rent and utility charges. This is outrageous for a couple reasons. They told me about this surprise charge on the 3rd of June and told me I had until the 14th of June before they would send me to collections. Yes you read that correctly they gave a struggling working college student 11 days to come up with 450 dollars before ruining their credit. I rarely even stayed at my apartment because I have a girlfriend I would stay with most days and nights. I couldn't dispute these charges because I never took pictures of the apartment at move in which is why they were able to extort this money from me. The worst place EVER!! --------------------------------------------------------------- Holes in floors under the carpet big enough for your foot to go into and trip an adult if you are unlucky enough to step in one. Windows painted shut Black mold in master bath shower and on toilet reservoir lid Water damage so bad that when a 5ft 4in 125 pound woman walks into the kitchen you see the floor bow like it is about to cave in. When you have water there are NO hot water regulators, It is literally "boiling" when it comes out. Roach infestation Thrash and abandoned furniture all around the dumpsters. Complex staff is rude, under qualified for the position in which they hold. They are just there to take your money. Maintenance guy needs to be FIRED!!! He does "NOT" know what he is doing. He is EXTREMELY patronizing, belittling, and down right obnoxious. So in closing, I've seen abandoned complexes in better condition than this place. I am very satisfied w the help of Candice and her staff, me and my room mate enjoy the complex very much and it's friendly atmosphere.

The Good: Maintenance requests are fully taken care of the next business day; the best I've experienced. The location on Airline is convenient to most everything without the traffic issues of a Staples Street. Online payment of rent is easy. I also like the space available in my townhome style apartment. The Bad: Apartment location matters. My streetside apartment means road noise is normal. It also means that the laundry room (near the back) and dumpster are a good ways away. Get a unit with laundry hookups or find the laundry room before signing up! The security fencing, while providing some semblance of security, also means that the low-lying sidewalks towards either end of the building are the only available exits outside of climbing the fence even when they are both puddles of mud. Have had some messy and/or loud neighbors. The Verdict: The good is really good. Responsive maintenance and a good location are huge positives of Candlewood Apartments. If you are able to check your apartment location versus laundry, etc. you can avoid many of the issues I have. Even the best planning can't guarantee good neighbors, however. This would easily be a 4 star rating if I had a better location within the complex, laundry hookups, or the lease agreement accounted for the inferiorities of my location within the complex. read more

DO NOT MOVE HERE!!! Let's see, where do I begin?! I have lived at this apartment complex for approximately 7 months so far and let's just say it has been the WORST 7 months of my life! As I sit here and think of the problems I've had with living at this apartment complex I look back and really I think the question should be "what problems have I NOT had to deal with this past 7 months??" I have never been one to complain about small things, but from Day One of my lease I have had issues. My parents drove all the way in from San Antonio to help move me in and I was told to move in around 2 PM, which worked out perfectly. As I walked through the doors I was told I could not move in until around 5PM because the carpet had not been cleaned yet. My family and I were forced to wait around for hours and was finally able to move in around 6PM in the evening. Keep in mind after hours of moving my family had to drive back to San Antonio. This was a HUGE inconvenience and received nothing but a fake ass apology from the property manager (Michelle Moya). Lets continue shall we.....Problem #1 = no hot water. I have no idea what the problem was but the entire property did not have any hot water for about 4 days. This doesn't seem like a huge problem, but trust me when you're taking arctic showers you end wanting to go psycho. Problem #2 = no hot water AGAIN for exactly a week. I spoke to someone in the office as well as called the corporate office and was not treated like my voice even wanted to be heard. The manager I spoke to (Amanda) was extremely rude and interrupted me whenever I went into the office. She basically blew me off with this rehearsed line of bullshit. No rent was deducted that month. Problem #3 = a constant problem with roaches. I'm talking about waking up in the middle of the night and heading downstairs to grab a quick drink and seeing nothing but about 30 small roaches (yes I counted) in my kitchen. No food was out, no dirty dishes present. I had the pest control enter the apartment TWICE to spray the kitchen and downstairs area and there is still a roach problem. Problem #4 = coming home to a bathroom FLOODED with water. My air conditioning unit decided to break and leak constantly until the pan in the ceiling warped and unleashed a waterfall of disgusting water all over my bathroom ruining towels and tons of rolls of toilet paper I had in my cabinets. This was due to a cap being worn and cracked because of poor maintenance. Ok I can deal with a little bit of problematic machines because I understand shit happens, BUT when I called the 24/7 maintenance line the man on the other end tried telling me my leaking air conditioner was not an emergency and for me to find a bucket to put under it. After bitching him out that this was not my responsibility and that it was 2 in the morning he decided to send someone over. Lets just say the man that showed up didn't speak one word of English. Problem #5 = As I sit here and write this horrible but truthful review at 2:30 in the morning on a Friday night when it is almost 70 degrees outside know that my air conditioner is ONCE AGAIN BROKEN. It just simply decided to stop working; will not pump hot or cold air out no matter what I set it on. Problem #6: Management does not notify you of community break ins. I had to be told by the 10 o'clock news and a neighbor that a women was robbed at gunpoint by 3 men in my same apartment complex, not far from my building. If management cared for their residents why wouldn't they inform us of important information like the above?? Hmm, because they don't care. So as you search for places to live whether that be a month from now or years from now know that I have heard and experienced NOTHING BUT BAD things from Candlewood Apartments. I was coming to town for business and had to rent without seeing the apartment. It was Horrible. Cockroaches! I hate bugs. They sprayed for bugs twice within a week. My cable guy recommended A very strong product, which I used every day and the bugs were still crawling on the walls. The neighbors leave their trash outside overnight so that doesn't help and management doesn't enforce not doing so. I tried working with management to get out of my 2 month lease but they refused. A nice affordable apartment complex. I really enjoy living here. Is near by just about everything . The mall groceries store ,the beach is 15 minutes away. And for the past two years I've noticed a nice change here in the apartment complex for the better. Looks like they are totally remodeling every unit. Getting a new exercise room ,which I'm excited about. The people in the office are nice and polite Michelle, Maria, and Sandy. I'm definitely going to renew my lease. : )- read more

My family and I have lived at Candlewood for over 6 years and I'm satisfied. I like the location; i have 3 kids and they attend 2 different schools and each school is just down the street. The grocery and various other stores are just a short drive away. I like the management staff and the maintenance staff; my needs are met in a timely fashion. I walk into the office and I'm addressed by my name, which makes a person feel comfortable. I like our little community, and we have good neighbors. Got bitten on my legs from mites in the carpeting which smells like dog urine, AC thermostat went out twice, bugs were an issue, and huge ant hills were allowed to exist on my patio and near steps to second floor. Cannot recommend. read more

I've lived here for 6yrs. now and I haven't had any serious problems yet. Sure there's the same as any place wear out of things...fridge, A/C, etc. and they've been handled pretty quick and the maintenance people are knowledgeable, friendly and most of all polite... they talk to you like a person not like your an idiot! I like it here the staff are nice and have taken care of anything I've needed done in a timely manner and have even helped with some personal things! So all in all you stay here and respect the staff and the property and you'll have a nice place to live or just stay if your only here for a few months for business! Plus they're doing new landscaping, put in a new work out room, and are upgrading the apartments as people move out! read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Like Stephanie S., there have been multiple problems with this property beginning with move-in. I had requested an apartment without a fireplace, and on move-in day, there was a fireplace. I was told that since management wouldn't be in until Monday, I just had to take what I was given. The first time it rained, my apartment flooded. I mean, standing water in my apartment. When I complained, they sent a carpet company to clean the mess, but never addressed the leak. Repeat this action five times. I eventually had to sandbag my door to keep the water out. Then the toilet began to sink into the sub-floor. But the worst of all was when the mice and rats arrived. They ate through the walls. The walls! Management's response: "We can't do anything about it while the buildings are under construction." The exterminator gave me traps to lay, meaning that anything that was caught, I would have to clean up. After threatening to sue, I was moved to another building and another apartment. When I introduced myself to my neighbors, they told me to be careful because there were mice in the building. Needless to say, now that my lease is over, I am out of here. I have been a resident for some time now. I am so grateful that I made the choice to live here. When ever I have needed anything done its taking care of in a timely way. When you think about the fact that there is probably 200 maybe 300 hundred apartments the turnaround time in which something is handled is extremely good. I have read some of the other reviews and wonder why people are quick to complain about things instead or thinking of all the good. I have never once been spoken to in an unkind manner and if there has to be a delay for some reason they let you know why. Maybe a part has to be ordered, etc. The grounds are always kept so well, the laundry room is always clean as so is the workout room. If your someone that likes to just complain about every little thing, then this is not the place for you because you are going to have to work real hard to find something. I think we should be as quick to say I really appreciate you as we are to complain. These are really good people it shows in them as well as in the work. I encourage you if you want to live where you can feel like you live in a secure environment, a community within the community where you feel like you have a home then I would like to encourage you to come by. I looked around at many places and Candlewood by far had much more to offer all the way around. And the area is so close to everything you can walk if you like read more
