I had a horrible experience here tonight, made so much worse by IHG Platinum Elite Card "customer service." I arrived for a 2-night stay that I booked with my Platinum Elite card on the IHG website. After I'd unpacked in the first room, I went to use the bathroom and saw that the toilet was cracked from the bottom of the porcelain all the way up. Super dangerous. Pic attached. So I went back to the front desk and informed the manager, Keara (who to be fair was super kind - my issues are not with her), and she gave me the keys to another room. I decided instead of packing up and moving everything over, to check out the room first to ensure everything was ok so that I wouldn't have to do this again. I went up, checked the bed, and there was a literal bed bug crawling on the pillow. Pic attached. I told front desk who said "bed bugs are clear" (they are not). I asked for a refund and she said she would refund me, but I'd already been charged by IHG. She said they're a separate franchise and don't have the same system. So I went out to my car and called IHG and was on with two different people for nearly 25 minutes. I had to retell my story twice and they said they couldn't do anything in the way of a refund. I said I needed a place to stay (at this point it was 9:30pm and I was sitting in a dark parking lot after having driven 10 hours). They said they'd book me at a similar IHG property nearby - a Holiday Inn Express - - and they confirmed my card info and charged my card there for two nights - and this new hotel was significantly more expensive. I said I needed compensation - at least tonight free. They said I could talk to their manager and I said yes, they put me on hold again, and then I spoke to a woman who was very unfriendly and unaccommodating and told me they couldn't offer me any compensation, and that they "didn't have access to my payment method." The man before her literally had my card info - I was calling the IHG CREDIT CARD COMPANY customer service. This was the same call and made no sense. Then she said all they could offer me was 7,000 points to my card but that it would release the hotel of all liability should my things now be infested with bed bugs. I said no. They told me to go to the Holiday Inn and talk to the front desk. I went the HI, and despite IHG customer service saying they had charged my card over the phone, the hotel had no reservation for me. So the front desk charged my card AGAIN (at this point I needed a place to stay). I looked at my bank statement and I was charged TWICE at Candlewood. This is all insane. This has been the single worst customer experience of my life. read more

Rooms appear clean most of the time but it depends on which one you get. Many rooms have a musty/moldy smell like they've been wet for extended periods. Also, there's only one outside camera so there's no security for your vehicle. Mine was hit overnight in the parking lot and when I questioned the manager, she really couldn't have cared less. I'll be working in the area for months but she seemed happier to lose my business than help the situation. read more

The positives: This place is remodeled. Everything in my room worked and was newer. The front desk staff is very friendly and accomodating. The location is also top notch. You won't see any suspicious activity and you will be in a nice area of Mt Pleasant. The drawback: There is about a good inch of space under the doors so sound travels more than it should. I had to stuff a comforter under the doorway to muffle out noise. read more

My husband and I stayed here for an anniversary trip and were super impressed with the room. While the parking lot can be full during busy times, there is a parking lot across the street which isn't a far walk at all. The staff were super helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and very clean. Definitely would recommend and will be choosing to come back if we are back in the area. read more

Had an excellent stay. The suite was clean, well stocked and quiet. The staff were friendly and accommodating. I was also pleased with the small custom touches that the facility provided that made me feel like it was a unique acknowledgement vs a generic welcome. This is a great property which is very close to everything Mount pleasant and Charleston. The accommodations are great - clean, safe, good lighting outside for security. My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Ms Yolanda at check in and various times passing the front desk. I asked her if she worked 24/7? Arrived early to see if we could check in only to be told room was cancelled because our cc was declined. First off, we opted to pay at the hotel and just this morning we found out our cc was compromised. We never got an email or phone call to let us know room was cancelled. Unacceptable! I will never stay here or recommend this hotel. The front desk duo totally could have cared less. read more

This hotel sucks! No parking, overpriced and they don't even have an ice machine. Better get ice at the convenient store if you want a cold drink. The only good thing is the location as it is close to down town Charleston read more

We booked this last minute to visit our daughter in Charleston this past weekend. We had previously stayed in the sister hotel, Indigo, at Thanksgiving and called direct to get a quote. It was considerably higher than our stay at Thanksgiving, but the reservation clerk suggested this hotel just a very short distance away. The hotel honored either our AAA or AARP memberships for a discounted rate. When we arrived, we found the front desk staff pleasant and helpful. The room was clean, clean, clean!! There was no dust even on highest of the shelves. The room came with a kitchenette, complete with refrigerator, dishwasher, dishes, utensils, two burner stove and pans. The kitchen was stocked with dish soap, dishwasher tablets, brand new brush, extra paper towels, etc. The bathroom had dispensers bolted on the wall by the sink with Dove (not the cheap stuff) hand soap and lotion and in the shower with body wash, shampoo and conditioner. The towels were white-white and decent quality. The bed was comfortable, heating unit worked great (although it blows right on one side of the bed - we just turned it off at night). The room was quieter than any hotel I've stayed in for a long time. We heard someone walking up above us once, but just barely. Otherwise, there was no outstanding noise whatsoever. We did not try the TV, although it appeared to be very clear and was a decent size for the room. I would have to say that this hotel equalled or outshined its sister hotel, Indigo, in my opinion, although the Indigo has more of a resort feel with the large lobby, outdoor pool and in-house restaurant. There are plenty of great restaurants nearby, though. Cleaning is done once a week, although towels can be changed out and amenities picked up at the front desk. There are not enough parking spaces for the number of rooms, but additional parking is right across the non-busy street so is no big deal. All parking, including across the street, is well lit. The hotel itself is close to everything - Patriot's Point, downtown Charleston, beach, mall, great restaurants, etc. Highly recommend. read more

Not a great stay. My fiancé and I stayed for a few nights and we both didn't really sleep much. The hallways and hotel room didn't smell great - almost like someone had tried to clean the carpets but they didn't dry properly(like a mildew smell). The staff was friendly. Parking in the lot is limited so you may need to park across the street but it's not a long walk. The AC is next to the bed and also facing the bed so the unit shutting off and on was a little annoying. read more

If I could give it zero stars I would. I accidentally left my jacket in the closet. When I arrived home 3 hours later I called them. They said they didn't find anything. No other guests were in my room after me, so that makes me conclude that house keeping took it. It was a brand new jacket that wasn't cheap. Unfortunately you can't trust anyone and I definitely wouldn't trust the people that work at this hotel ever again. Never staying there again and neither should anyone who cares about not getting their stuff stolen. read more

I really enjoyed my stay here and equally enjoyed my stay at their sister hotels the Indigo and the Brice Krypton. Candlewood has a really nice kitchen set up with new equipment which was a really nice change from the crappy Airbnb stays we previously had which is why we switched to Hotels. Candlewood was the least costly of the 3 hotels with the most amenities. All 3 hotels are pet friendly and the only think you have to be prepared for is the room smelled not of dog but of cooked food and since the windows don't open, I went to Whole Foods nearby and bought a natural spray which I used often and it did the trick. I enjoyed all my stays so much that I sign up to be a member of their hotel chains. read more

Loved the hotel. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. It is kind of more on the expensive side if I'm being honest but I would say it was worth it. The room we got had two "rooms" and a sofa couch. It also had two bathroom and a kitchen with a sink, stove, and refrigerator including.. cups,plates, pans, pots, and cutlery. I'm not sure if other rooms had balconies but ours didn't have one because we were on the first floor. The location isn't far from downtown, and only 27 minutes from the beach at Charleston. This trip was very fun (and tiring) but it was nice to come back and relax at this hotel. read more

If you reserved a room here, call to make sure you still have a room. We reserved a king room. Upon arrival and getting to the room, it was a queen room. The front desk clerk said basically too bad. They didn't have any king rooms. We asked what happened if we got here late and he said "we would send you 'walking'." When asked what that was he said "your reservation is cancelled." Complete bs. Passing on Candlewood from now on. Very POOR customer service!! read more

I would give negative 500 stars to these thieves! I had my room booked for two weeks for a business trip. On my third day after working a 12-hour shift, my card to my room was not working and had my card reactivated at the front desk. Once I entered my room, I discovered over $2,000 worth of my personal belongings were stolen from my room - including my personal computer and keys that I really need. There were mud tracks everywhere which was one of the first things I noticed upon entering the room. I reported the incident to the front desk and they said that nothing can be done because the manager was not on duty (I have to emphasize how irresponsible the manager is coming from someone who deals with customer service). I then called the police to file a report and magically a supervisor (not a manager) showed up. The supervisor showed some sympathy but when I said I was not staying another night, still charged me for the room on that same day. I left - shaken by the whole situation. The manager was suppose to call me the next day after a supposed investigation was to occur. The front desk mentioned they can track room keys and claimed to have no surveillance. The manager never called me. I let a day pass by waiting for a response and proceeded to file a complaint to IHG customer service. IHG customer service claimed an incident was never reported! IHG customer service gave me a case number and said someone would call me by today (07/04/2022). Now 5 days later, no one has called me! Any chance of getting my stuff back is now long gone! It must be an inside job! They saw me walk in with my stuff on day one, watched my schedule for a couple of days, let someone in my room when I went to work, and then proceeded to steal my belongings! They are thieves! I am devastated by what has occurred knowing that someone was watching me and how much I lost. I'll be paranoid to stay at hotels for the rest of my life! I travel for work 6 months out of the year and have done so for over 10 years. Nothing like this has ever happened to me. It blows my mind how truly disprespectful and careless the hotel, manager, and IHG have handled this incident. DON'T stay here, your stuff/car might get stolen, stay far far far away! read more
