However, at $600 the Orchid Room is very expensive and is very limited in how you are permitted to decorate. We unfortunately had to cancel our event and requested a few butterfly house passes to use another day since we were out the $600. They said it was not possible. So be very aware of the 90 day cancellation policy and the very limited decoration policy.

This past Sunday I had my baby shower at the Orchid Room and it was perfect! The space is gorgeous…read moreand everyone raved about how beautiful the shower was. The shower started at 12pm and we were able to get into the room at 11am. We were scrambling to get everything done until the last minute but it all worked out. An hour and a half to set up might have been more ideal but that's okay, we had a lot of people helping. We were able to bring in our own food which was nice. They do no allow alcohol, fyi. Otherwise, I would have done mimosas or "mom-osas" for myself. ;) We also brought in our own linens. The room rental for 4 hours was $200 and that also allowed guests to check out the butterfly house that same day. There were not butterflies since it was January but we did see the parrot and a lot of cool plants. I would highly recommend this space to others. We had around 55 people at the shower and I would say you wouldn't want to have more than 60 guests to fit the space comfortably.

Sugar Lake Lodge - Wildly talented Dan Rodriguez

Sugar Lake Weddings is a woodland fairytale wedding venue. They are located on 135 acre property…read morewhich now includes a new live music & performance venue Atmósfaira (Greek for atmosphere). I attended the latest concert by the wildly talented Dan Rodriguez and Giovanna Faye at this music venue. I was absolutely blown away by the entire experience. Atmósfaira concerts are typically located on the deck surrounded by the cathedral of trees and faux wisteria cascading from the sky. It's a dreamy setting. The forecast when I visited included rain so we were moved inside in a building with exposed brick walls and cabin vibes. There was gorgeous vintage velvet furniture (couches, chairs, and small tables) positioned closed together. Given the last minute relocation, the venue was well setup. Concert atmosphere was intimate and cozy. It felt like the artists serenaded us all. The artists were incredibly talented and warmly interactive. Drinks were available for purchase at the bar. I was very impressed with the quality of the honey pear mocktail (only $5). It was easily the best mocktail I've tasted - perfectly delicate and sweet. There was a food truck outside offering smash burgers and the most delicious lemonade for purchase. Parking was available onsite and guests were directed to their spots. The cost of the ticket was very reasonable - $20 for a memorable evening. I visited only the second concert organized by this venue, and it was felt that a lot of heart was put into organization. What about weddings? I think it's a gorgeous venue for a wedding especially for those seeking nature and forest setting. There are indoor and indoor options, lots of character, very cordial service, parking, and lots of land to roam. I loved this venue and event execution. I purchased tickets to the next concerts before even departing the venue. They happen every month, and you can find them on the venue's website. I can't wait to make more memories here! You should too!

We are so glad we did! This restaurant was fantastic and does not deserve the 3 1/2 stars. I am giving it 5 stars, because I can fault nothing. The food was good, the seating was comfortable (we sat by the fire), the music was the correct volume, it was clean, and it was appropriately priced. We visited this restaurant in a Lake Snow Effect Warning at 9pm on a Saturday night. I really have nothing negative to say. I usually say something negative so that you know that I am a real person. Ummm... it was snowing. Emily (our server) was awesome. She was helpful, bright, cheerful, and chatty (just the right amount). She was also totally cool when we decided to add an appetizer after we already ordered. She made sure we got everything at the right time. If you like wine, beer, and good food, consider this restaurant. The best way to describe it is a boushie modern sports bar.

My girlfriend and I visited last night and had mixed feelings about our experience…read more To start with the positive, my girlfriend was initially served the wrong glass of wine. The bartender immediately apologized, was very polite, and replaced it with the correct wine. Mistakes happen, and we appreciated how friendly and apologetic she was. Unfortunately, what happened afterward completely changed our impression. While we were sitting at the bar enjoying our cocktails and dinner, the incorrect glass of wine sat on the bar top for about 30 minutes. We even joked that someone was going to knock it over because it had been sitting there so long. Later, we watched a waitress ask the bartender for a glass of that same wine for another customer. To our surprise, the bartender said that she had poured that glass by mistake and had planned to drink it herself, then told the waitress to take that same glass and serve it to the customer. We were honestly speechless. Regardless of whether the wine had been touched, it had been sitting uncovered on the bar for approximately 30 minutes before being served to a paying customer. Watching that happen made us very uncomfortable and raised serious concerns about food and beverage handling practices. We understand that mistakes happen--that wasn't the issue. It's how the situation was handled afterward that left us disappointed. We hope management takes this feedback seriously because this isn't the level of service or food safety that customers should expect.
