This sweet little bookstore really touched my heart today. That is so truly unusual. My son saw the bookstore when we were walking around town but we missed the closing time two days in a row. My son loves books and bookstores so we made an effort to get there today. We walked in 5 minutes before closing because I missed that they closed at 4 when I had remembered 5 (my issue). The staff politely let us know it was almost closing time. The staff was thoughtfully helping people with suggestions for different books and were pretty busy as the whole town was hopping. My son picked out a book that he knew he would like and another that he thought maybe was less important and decided on the sure thing. He then realized he didn't have his wallet. That was fine as I was happy to buy the book. When we got to the counter the staff told him about a program that gives books to special young men in memory of a special man who had died, from his family. My son has struggled with social situations and skills because of a developmental disability his whole life and the staff did so well with him and he was so happy with that book. He reassured them that we were happy to buy the book but they let him know about this young man and his family and that they wanted to do this. Honestly so incredibly impactful and sweet. I hope the family of that man is able to know how important their gift is. read more

Love this local, independently owned bookstore in the heart of Cannon Beach. The store has an impressive collection of books thoughtfully curated and arranged in super helpful categories like "great beach read," which for those of us visiting the coast, sometimes we want an easy, light and entertaining read. I particularly enjoy perusing the large assortment of "staff picks," a great introduction to titles and authors not on my radar. The store has an easy and welcoming flow with shelves along the perimeters and round and rectangular tables in the center with books arranged by certain topics. It's election time so one table dedicated to current and past elected officials. Lots of current titles, gorgeous "coffee table" books with amazing photography, and classics. I always find something or many things here! All Covid precautions being implemented; you must use sanitizer when you enter wearing a mask. And limited number of customers In store. Other than that, it's book store browsing business as usual. read more

Just visited this cute little shop for the 4th time in about 2 years and can't believe I haven't reviewed it previously. It's everything I want in a small, local business. Friendly, helpful, familiar faces as soon as we walk in the door. We're greeted and welcomed without feeling any pressure. The shop carries everything from the current best sellers to the hard-to-find, lesser known works. And the ladies who've helped me have offered fantastic suggestions! I can share with them authors or books that I've loved and they're ready with similar titles they think I might like. So far, they've been spot on and I've devoured all of their recommendations. In fact, the one I picked up yesterday morning was so good that I read the entire thing, cover to cover, in a day! It was the perfect way to enjoy the stormy day at Cannon Beach. They also have unique playing cards and card games as well as thoughtful little gifts. We love this shop! read more

Despite Yelp saying the book store was closed today, I was pleasantly surprise to find it open. I love this little independently owned bookstore! Another wonderful Pacific Northwest bookstore. It amazes me how every little town dotted in the area seems to have their own independent bookstore when I know that some struggle in much bigger cities with less competition to stay afloat. A few things that stood out during our visit: -I'm always a sucker for tags on books that say things like "staff pick" or "great beach read"- this is the sort of character you'll never find on Amazon -this store had an impressive selection of titles focussed on racial equality / injustice for both adults, children and young adults -I had a blast exploring the top sellers and recipe books -location in the heart of downtown Cannon Beach -cozy natural light flooding into the store -great COVID 19 safety precautions with a store capacity, sanitizer at the entry and masks required (hit up the sanitizer on the way out after touching the books!) Overall, a lovely experience and downtown Cannon a Beach treasure. I'm surprised there aren't more reviews! read more

One of my first stops every time I come to Cannon Beach. I LOVE this bookstore. Since we generally visit Cannon Beach for New Year's I hold a Christmas present from my husband until we come here and stock up on books for the year (at least a good part of it.) While I didn't leave with as many books as I usually do on this trip, that was because I had made the decision to stay to my existing list of books I want to read when making my selections. They had none of the books on my list, but many of them are in that spot of being old enough to no longer be contemporary works, but not yet classics. I did manage to find a couple of books that I did add to my list of need to reads though. The staff here is amazingly helpful and knowledgeable about the books in their store (perhaps a little much so when giving a synopsis as I was purchasing that almost left me wondering if I still needed to read the book). In past years I have taken to the staff recommendation tags to make my selections and have not been disappointed. If you have a genre or author you particularly like, they can come up with recommendations for you that you are sure to enjoy. The small independent bookstore seems to be a dying breed, but this is definitely one you will want to visit. read more

Super appealing and inviting! Loved this independent bookstore with all its charm, coziness, and friendly staff. I literally can just spend hours in here. My daughter and I enjoyed browsing through the shelves, perusing through the little knick knacks on the countertops, and marveling at all the cuteness they had to offer. Although my daughter nor I did not walk away with any reading materials that day, we both loved the place nonetheless. So nice to see these local bookstores. Like I said before, we need more of these in the Bay Area. read more

We love to check out local bookstores on our travels and are so glad we didn't miss this one. The place is bigger than you would think if standing out front. We spent a few days on the coast visiting local bookstores. This one was my favorite! I'll be back next time we go to the coast!

Fantastic small town bookstore with a great selection and excellent, friendly service. It exudes a warm, welcoming feeling that invites you in. This bookstore has interesting books in abundance, and it's clear that someone has carefully curated their selection. I especially appreciate the local books section, and I ended up purchasing a book about Oregon coastal trails that was written and published locally. There isn't really much else to say here other than this is one of the most interesting shops in Cannon Beach. read more

This was my first stop on the "Cannon Beach Strip". This book store is amazing. There are so many different categories to choose from. I love the sections where the store shows you their favorites. I found at least four or five books I wanted to buy within 5 min of looking, but I reeled it in, and just purchased one. The BEST bookstore outside of Portland. They have the normal top 20 that some people want but they excel at offering books that are not what you find in your local grocery store. They are unique and they provide personal accounts of what books they recommend and why. Huge selection - we always go first thing so that we have our whole trip to read the great books we found. Our only complaint is that they close too early. read more

Oh my goodness, this is one of the best book stores I have been into. It is small...super small. But don't let that fool you. They have obviously taken a great deal of time hand selecting each and every book that they have filled their shelves with, choosing only the best of the best. The children's section had the most amazing assortment of the most fabulous children's books ever written. I walked in planning on just browsing and ended up buying 3 books. They may not have a huge assortment, so you may not find that one book you were seeking, however, don't let that sway you from visiting this book store. You may be surprised at what other treasures you find. Oh, and the gal working that day was incredibly sweet. This location will be added to our "must visits" for our future day trips to Cannon Beach. read more

Great selection. It is nice to see indie book sellers doing well. Store is quite large, so go in and head toward the back. Staff are pleasant and knowledgeable. They leave you alone, but if you engage them, they are wonderful and eager to assist. Always great music playing in the background to make browsing peaceful and enjoyable. Very well organized and offers one of the best selections of local authors in the region. Decent hours for a coastal shop as well. read more

This is a fabulous bookstore. What it lacks in size, it more than makes up for with an excellent selection of everything from current beach reads and best sellers to beloved classics. Everything is very well organized, with super displays highlighting staff recommendations or other themes. The staff are so friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I went in for a beach read and walked out with a bag of books and some new additions to my TBR (to be read) list. read more

I loved this place! What turned from just moseying around the town part of Cannon Beach, turned into me finding a great book! The Cannon Beach book company was awesome! I was kindly greeted by a kind lady behind the counter, and there were tons of new books, which surprised me because it deceivingly looked like an old used book store, but don't let that part fool you. The kid and young adult section was pretty big, and the adult sections were full of every kind of book you can find. It's fun and cool addition to Cannon Beach. Love it! Totally recommend! read more

This store is actually much larger than it appears from the front. They had a decent selection of reading material, but it was just kind of ho-hum for me. I picked up a book here and looked around a bit. Didn't get much in the way of customer service, not even a hello upon entry. The selection at the Seaside bookstore was better. read more

I like visiting independent booksellers and Canon Beach has one of the best smaller stores I have been in recently. The selection of novels is really top notch. If you keep up with books, they have a wide selection, many of which have won or been nominated for literary prizes, and some titles and authors I was unfamiliar with. I spent an enjoyable hour reading covers and surreptitiously glancing at reviews on my iPhone. Came away with five books and that evening I sampled from all five, including three authors new to me. You can't get this when buying books online. I will definitely come back again on our next visit. I just hope they are still here. read more
