We had a great winter paddle. The Little Manatee River is a welcome natural respite from the sprawl. Staff was very welcoming. They gave very clear direction about the route, picnic and restroom stop options and more. Our daughter and niece (both nearly 5) loved the trip! Only thing I would do different next time is to pack a full picnic lunch.

This place is awesome. Staff is friendly and funny! You get in the water at the Canoe Outpost and float down river. They picked us up in a bus at the pick up spot and drove us back too, so no shuttling your own cars. The entire trip took 3 hrs! We had a large group (18 people total). We had a great time. They also have a camp ground. The restrooms were easy to find and clean.

    Typical foliage.

Had a great day kayaking down the Little Manatee River. The 5 miles took less than 3 hours of paddling. It was completely silent and peaceful for most of the way. Just a great day to be on the water. We saw lots of turtles and manatees--including a big mama and her calf--and one sleepy gator. There were several other kayaks and a canoe out at the same time. We've definitely gotta do this again--though it appears we're buying our own kayaks soon. It's a pretty professional operation and the folks are mostly nice. The gal at the counter isn't people-friendly but the others were very cool. They said they'd be at the pickup place on the hour and they were right on time. It cost us $75 for two people, everything included. Insurance for equipment loss or damage is only $1 extra.

Great location for some local river water access and getting one with nature. This family biz with Brian Sr. , Brian Jr. and Anita is well ran and has always been a pleasure to deal with. Your safety is ALWAYS number one with them. We will be returning here for Many Many years to come.

What a great experience! Brian and Anita were super nice and gave us great information and instructions. Their kayaks were very nice, clean and comfortable. It is a 6 mile run to the place where you get out. We were getting tired at the end, but it was a beautiful trip filled with natural beauty. Highly recommend this canoe adventure!

Loved it! This was my second time at the Outpost and it did not disappoint. I went during a low tide but was able to purchase swim shoes for an affordable price and managed to only get stuck once. It took us about 2.5 hours to complete and we saw 4 alligators.

Had a great time on the Little Manatee River. It was my son's first canoe trip and we loved it. Saw a few alligators and tons of beautiful turtles! We will definitely visit again when we are in the area

Great kayak!!! Seen 3 manatees, many turtles, fish and birds. Shuttle service was professional, Courteous, and prompt. Will be back to do again.

Comes equips with propane grill, charcoal grill, fire pit, and picnic table. First wood is very reasonable here at the outpost.

The pictures do not do this place any justice. CAMP HERE! The sign by the road is small, and it's an immediate turn in, park on the camping side is easy and plenty of space. We stayed at the studio cabin, it's secluded from the other areas. Cabin was clean, smelled good, fully furnished - you won't have to pack your entire home. Park is clean and well maintained. John and Jordan did an amazing job during our kayak adventure, Super helpful, available for any questions, also polite and respectful, amazing team. Absolutely an amazing little Gem.

What a great little getaway for the family! Dog friendly is a plus!! We stayed in the 2 bedroom cabin and we were living like kings!! Tons of space and a lot of amenities! #GlamingDoneRight Brian the camp host was great!! We will definitely be back soon!!

Reservations not required, but easy enough to make. We called the day before and reserved two Kayaks. Option to request sit-on vs sit-in were allowed. Payment due the day off, not at time of reservation. Reservations were for the day, so you do not have to commit to a time, which is nice. Staff was friendly and provided instructions and map prior to setting off the approximately 6-mile course (about 2.5 hrs). Pickup at the end of the 6 miles was on the hour, every hour. The river is a black water river (think of it like a dark tea. Still able to see a few feet, but not all the way down).

As of today Trip 2 is still advertised. But apparently they aren't offering it anymore...

Last week we explored to the East, logic dictates we head West because there's more land, more trails and a brisk twenty minutes in, past the equestrian area and I had wished I brought my compass . So I looked to the sun, it was my nearing 9:45AM so I made a quick little sundial and determined my bearings, keeping the rays at my right shoulder, a tall pine in the distance for extra measure. So quickly the terrain can change from soft and slow white sand to fast packed non-silty soil to brown and boggy muddy to green and lush all within a stones throw in any direction. Know this friends - you'll be given no help from signage - only arrows , there are numbers from 15 to 3 - yet, not telling ya anything at all - no maps at the gate, nobody in the booth at the gate - nobody official looking around, so be aware of that if you want to see beyond the next turn. Getting turned around is easier than going straight towards the trails end. I assumed that the 15 I saw, then the 7 I saw then the 3&4 means I'd be on a cylindrical circumnavigation - looping back to the pavement that takes you in and separated the two very different sides of the park. We came up on Dude Lake and here in this primitive shallow shored lake - along with birds, turtles are sounds unique to my ears, movements in the brush that have the dogs diving into and thrashing within - only to pop out from the other side dumbfounded and disappointed. There are things that are unseen underneath - human penetration is virtually impossible without damaging the plants, vines and thick green entanglements. I believe these are small creatures, whatever they are but emit the most beautiful sounds, whatever they are.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!…read more Negatives..... We were greeted by a person that lives in a camper up front that said she backs up the office when they are not available. Super nice lady but again NOBODY in the office during regular working hours is unacceptable. Did not get the spaces we prepaid for. New ownership said reservation was made under old ownership. They are not honoring preselected sites. The 60 cable channels are for the clubhouse only. When we asked about it we were told you have to get your own provider. Wifi ..well lets say it might get you 1 or 2 bars. I was told they have many internet connections throughout the campground and anything that ended with Spectrum 5G is their wifi and was given the password. Yes there are many listed on the wifi scan but when you click on them and put in the password it tells you "You can not connect". People are correct you can SELDOM get anyone to answer the office phone during the day. We went to the office to ask about propane delivery. They lady told us there was nobody that delivers propane. We asked a few more questions like when will the dryers (ALL THE DRYERS -4) be working she said "After we get our propane delivered." In my head I was thinking "Lady you just told me nobody delivers propane!?!?" There is no water pressure most of the time. Good thing I caught it when it was actually working and filled our water tank so we could use the bathroom and brush our teeth. At the time of this writing, there is a complete water outage in the campground. Lasted DAYS!!! Super tight accommodations. BIG RIGS beware. Electrical at pedestals is questionable. Some 30s work and some 50s work. You have to find your own working outlet. Some RVs had to move to a different spot just to find power. During our stay multiple vacationers around us left early out of frustration. No security at all. Anyone can wander in. We ended up moving to a different camp grounds... Yes we lost a week of prepaid vacation and had to pay double for the last week but it would have been worth it at 3 times the price. Positives.... The campground is small. It is quiet (great for relaxing). The campers that are here are really nice. Reasonably priced fees. Going for walks is nice as you have a mixture of sun and shade so you don't bake.
