A friend of mine told me about this little charm and told me to go since…read moreat my old campground it got quite boring so I looked online and booked a space in silk stocking (as you can see in the pictures below) and when I arrived I noticed that there is no satellite for phones but I like that because it lets me enjoy wildlife without the doomscrolling of social media (you know what apps) and there is just so much things to do. For example, there's a concession stand that has some fire food and there's Wibits on the lake but for the people how don't want to get their hair wet or go underwater in a lake like me, there is also public lake access for swimming to. There is also peddle boats that you peddle on the lake which give you a good view of the lake without having to rent a expensive pontoon boat. They also have kayaks. And they have peddle carts on land for fun travel around the park but it is VERY hard to peddle on the rocks and feels like if you were to put peddles on a bus. The vibe there is also very good and campfire rings are included with each site though they are kinda dirty so I'd recommend rapping tin foil around food before cooking. The bathrooms do have washing machines and there is a vending machine that is like 50 cents I think and it has washing machine stuff. Just so yall know if your bringing your bike just know that most of the park is rock so it may be a bit hard to ride on. Same with dogs, the rocks may be a bit hard on their paws so just walk them in the grass until there's pavement. Also there is a bigfoots big ride every Saturday night which is a tractor hauling this long wagon with benches in it and it is quite fun. The camp store is well stocked and has some camping must haves like wood and such. The creek behind silk stocking is a great spot for fishing just make sure to release the fish afterwards since they are Austin lake's property. Overall though the park is clean and the bathhouses are nice and they added free water for 6 mins but when I pressed the button it didn't turn on it made this like buzzing sound like it was supposed to be dispensing water but it didn't so I just went in the cabin and took a shower. Also tents are allowed as long as it's just one that is the max.

We're in the area to visit Ohiopyle and were looking for some places close by to take our golden…read moreretriever swimming and while eating breakfast this morning at Yum Yums one of the owners recommended this place. After hubby and I toured Kentuck Knob we stopped by our hotel to get our golden and headed straight here. I was worried that being Father's Day that the place would be insanely crowded but there weren't many people there and since there are so many areas to park everyone that was there was pretty well spaced out. We stopped at the boat ramp area so our golden could jump off the 2 floating docks and he absolutely loved it. The water is really clean and hubby even saw a huge fish jump out of the water while our dog was retrieving his ball. This area has benches and a walkway around the lake and there are also bathrooms, pavilions and picnic tables and seems to be quite popular with the local fisherman plus it was so clean and pristine, my only regret is that we didn't find this place sooner because we would have been bringing our pup here every morning and evening. Great place for fishing, family get togethers or for a nice walk around the lake, we're actually getting ready to head back up there now.

Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve is the headquarters of the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania…read more(ASWP). The ASWP's website says that this reserve contains 134 acres of sanctuary, several trails that total five miles, and facilities such as a nature store, native-plant nursery, play area, educational classrooms, teachers' resource center, and a library. Rental spaces include a barn, auditorium, and classroom. My husband and I visited the nature store and the native-plant nursery. At the nature store, we saw products such as bird feeders, bird seed, binoculars, gardening gloves, nature books, t-shirts, honey, stuffed animals, puzzles, greeting cards, etcetera. At the native-plant nursery outside, we thought that the plants were somewhat small in size but had a varied selection and were priced reasonably. The ASWP's website has a list of available plants, which includes over 150 species of trees, shrubs, and perennials that attract birds, butterflies, and bees. In the future, I plan to return to Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve to hike their trails. I think that I would enjoy seeing their woodlands, fields, streams, pond, and wildlife.

It's only about 40 miles north up I-79, so it's an easy drive from the city, but it feels like a completely different world once you get down into the gorge. I've been going there for years with friends and family, and it became my go-to spot to take people when they would visit from out of town. Everyone always loves checking out the historic old gristmill and the red covered bridge right next to it. It's a great, classic view, and if you go during the summer, they usually open up the mill for tours so you can see how it all used to work. The hiking there is fantastic, too, with a good mix of trails depending on what you're up for. You can take a pretty easy walk back to Hell's Hollow Falls, or you can tackle the rougher, rockier trails that run right along Slippery Rock Creek. You definitely want to wear sturdy shoes because the terrain gets steep and the rocks get slick, but the scenery with the rushing whitewater and massive boulders is totally worth it. It's just a beautiful, simple place to get outdoors for a few hours. Whether you want a challenging hike or just want to sit by the water and look at the old bridge, it never disappoints.

Visited this state park for the first time earlier this month and had a blast!…read more I parked at what I think is the main lot, up above the mill itself. I didn't take a tour of the mill (which the park volunteers and staff do offer throughout the day) but I did walk through it and read the information in it about the history of the mill. Definitely enjoyed exploring and learning. That said, I was really there for the trails, so I spent most of my day hiking. I took a loop trail down from the mill and back (with a detour up a short trail to some falls) and it was great! I love being outside and I love a good challenge; these trails were not paved or even at all and I had a great workout navigating them. During hydration breaks I'd find a nice rock to sit on by the water, which was wonderful. It was noisy as heck by the mill because of the families, but the further out I got the more peaceful it got. Definitely met my goal of unplugging for a day during my trek on the trails. I want to come back in the future and begin to try to walk the Slippery Gorge Trail, as it sounds like the gorge is another beautiful part of the park. But that is definitely a long term goal, because that trail is not a short one! I loved visiting this park and I'd be back for sure. To everyone else, PLEASE remember water and wear the proper footwear - while I enjoyed my walk in the park, these trails are definitely not a walk in the park!

I hit the Lakeside Beach on the North Shore today & enjoyed my visit. There is a large gravel…read moreparking lot, a concession stand & restrooms. There is a paved slope path down to the water so could push a stroller or wheelchair to the sand area. The beach is unguarded. You are supposed to swim in the roped area, but people swam outside of it due to being a busy 95 degree Saturday. It was only about 4 feet deep even out past rope that says 5 feet. There are shaded tree areas on hillside. The sandy area I preferred to South shore's Pleasantville beach. Definitely recommend for a swim or for sitting in the sun or the shade near the lake with a beautiful view.

It's big with lots to do and was a favorite for my daughter as a toddler. There's the wave pool which is great on a hot summer day. BMX trails, remember those fondly with boyfriends. Hiking, biking and walking trails, horses and stables. Loads and loads of picnic and wooded areas for more hiking. Ponds, and BUFFALO...did I mention the buffalo? Amazing. Not to mention plenty of open land (once the fairgrounds) for festivals and concerts, have seen several bands. Lots and lots of beautiful flowers and vegetation, and wildlife. Literally something for everyone here.

They have a nice boat ramp, dock. and fishing pier suitable for handicapped people. There is a playground nearby, picnic pavilions, and a hiking trail leading to a Historic 1881 Truss Bridge. It wasn't the most exciting thing in the world, but it was cool to see and walk over this old bridge. Cheers!

There were several people out fishing from the dock and multiple people on kayaks in the lake. The bathroom facilities near the docks and shelters were clean and honestly smelled like flowers. The park seems very well maintained and even has a wooden track/course for biking that was pretty cool looking.
