We booked a tent from Cantele Tents months in advance for our wedding. One week before the wedding, we were told the tent size we had reserved was no longer available because a shipment containing a required tent part had been ordered incorrectly and wasn't opened until just before our wedding. As a result, they realized they could not provide the tent we had contracted for. We were offered a smaller tent at the lower price, but this meant completely redesigning our seating chart and table layout just days before the wedding. At first, I was understanding. Mistakes happen, and I appreciated the honesty. Our venue asked if we could wait a couple of days before making a final decision while watching the weather, and Cantele agreed. When we ultimately decided we still needed the smaller tent, I asked whether they would consider an additional discount given the significant inconvenience their mistake had caused. Instead, James refused, said waiving the $100 delivery fee was sufficient, became argumentative, told me he "didn't have time for this," threatened to cancel our order altogether, and hung up on me. He ultimately refused to do business with us, leaving us without a tent option just two days before our wedding. The initial mistake was unfortunate, but the way it was handled was far more disappointing. We weren't asking for anything unreasonable--we were simply looking for a solution that acknowledged the stress, extra work, and uncertainty their mistake created. Instead, we were left scrambling to find an alternative at the last minute. Planning a wedding is stressful enough without having to worry that a vendor may refuse to honor even a revised agreement just days before your event. Let me tell you about the worst merchant or vendor service I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with in my life, Cantele Tent Rentals. Aside from them being rude and dismissive, they were also confrontational and aggressive. First off, they brought the wrong pieces to our venue for our wedding, they installed a dirty buckling astroturf floor which my guests were tripping over at the party, and told us that at $800. for a 20x30 floor we "cheaped out" because we didn't choose to get it installed by a professional carpet installer for twice the price. Then they personally attacked us by saying that the minute we walked through their doors they knew we'd be cheap and difficult. We took that as a criticism of our sexual orientation, being two men. Besides the floor, the rest of the items were run down and filthy. What was most concerning to us were the dirty chairs, which were covered in mud and debris from other customers. Given the fact that we are still amid a pandemic, we felt this was a sanitary issue, to not clean the items before re-renting. We had to clean the chairs ourselves as we were concerned for the safety of our guests, which obviously Cantele was not. When I called to discuss our issues and concerns, I was treated rudely and laughed at. Then things took an alarming turn when I was told by the owner that he was coming over to take everything that we already paid for back - this, just two days before our wedding ceremony. I ask, what kind of cruel and heartless company would do that right before your big event. Because of the threats and aggressive tone, we became alarmed and were forced to call the police. We were seriously concerned for our safety and losing the items we had just paid to rent, and our event being ruined. They made good on their threats and did come back, but were greeted by my partner, myself, and a state trooper, who thank the Lord was present. The owner aggressively started pulling down the tent until he realized the trooper was present. He then stated that he needed to take down the tent because it wasn't supported properly, to which we became immediately concerned for the welfare and safety of our guest and thought why would anyone knowingly put up and leave an unsafe tent...go figure. Luckily, the trooper was able to defuse the situation and we were able to salvage our plans, however, we were left with very bad mental anguish and distress - again this just two days before our wedding reception. After cleaning all the chairs multiple times and vacuuming the dirty astroturf ourselves, we were still left with awful and filthy lighting. The lighting was so dirty it had to be washed by us as well, as we were embarrassed to have such poor-looking pieces in the tent for our wedding. Ours was just a small humble party for which the negativity and aggravation nearly outweighed. When you put your trust in a professional service to be treated this way is truly devastating. Needless to say, we would not only recommend against using Cantele Tent Rentals, but we would seriously warn against it at risk of your event being jeopardized or having to be aggressively treated for voicing your concerns and issues. read more

I have dealt with Cantele's for many years - we have 1 or 2 parties every year at our house, and always get a tent - shows up exactly when we need it and usually taken down the day after. Tents are clean, their workers are pleasant to deal with. They also did a ton for my wedding, a last minute storm came the day of our wedding and the day before I called them and they came the day of wedding and set the tent up first thing in the morning, great to deal with! read more

We have used Cantele's for many years between our family headstone, my Fathers Veteran's headstone to our daughters graduation party tent. They have always gone above and beyond for us. We just got married this past Saturday. We sat down with Mary and Marissa months before the wedding to go over tables,chairs, tents , dance floor, and linens for our special day. As the date got closer we had to add more things for our caterer and also heaters for our tent because the weather had changed so fast. With every phone call and email our answers were immediately answered and our requests fulfilled. They went above and beyond for our special day! Support our local business especially family owned. Our son is getting married in 2023 we will definitely be sending him and his future wife to Cantele's to plan their special day. Given our experience with Cantele Tent Rentals, we would highly recommend them for your business and personal needs. We worked primarly with James Cantele. James is truly a master of his trade - incredibly knowledgeable, personable and easy to work with. We were married in East Durham over the summer and built our tent wedding experience from scratch and James and his team were an instrumental part of that experience. They met every expectation we had for all rental products and were extremely flexible and responsive when we asked for additional rentals or variations. On the morning of our wedding it was raining incredibly hard and James helped us out in a very difficult situation by providing clear tent walls to fortify against the rain at 40% less than their typical rate. James and his team worked extremely efficiently, assembling a huge tent structure and disassembling it in a few hours on each end with minimal disturbance to the venue/business owners and us. We are extremely grateful for James and his Cantele Tent Rental team for all the hard work they did for our wedding experience. read more

My tent rental experience 7/17/2021. The good - Set up of the tent was fine. 3 men came to my house and put up a 20 X 20 tent in about 20 minutes. The bad - Cantele's tent totally collaped during a rain storm on my guests forcing us all into the my house soaking wet at 8:30 pm. On Sunday 9/18/2021 they came and picked up their tent. I called 7/19/2021 and was told that 25% of my cost will be reimbursed. I understand that "acts of God" happen and that nobody can control the weather. But the big fail in all of this experience was the condesending women I spoke to on the phone when I called to report the collapse of the tent on Monday morning. I had her on speaker phone and both me and wife agree that she had a definite tone in her voice. A snotty tone. She never apologized, or asked if anyone was injured. She asked why i didn't call at 8:30 pm Saturday night when the tent went down, as if I had done something wrong. I told her i didn't expect anyone to answer the phone on Saturday night at 8:30 pm and that was why I waited until Monday morning. She then told me that she works from 9 until 1 on Saturday and I should have called. Remember that this happened at 8:30 pm. I googled tent rentals in Columbia County. There are plenty of other options. Cantele tents should really teach their employees some basic customer service skills. I could cry writing this review from how grateful I am for Cantele Tent Rentals. They came to the rescue when my other vendor didn't show and cancelled with a lame excuse a day before my wedding (don't ever work with Boston Rustic Wedding Rentals!). In a matter of hours, Cantele's was able to get to get together a 44'x100' tent w/ lighting, 20 farm tables, 200 chairs, 20 ceremony benches, and 2 2-barrel bars. They delivered & set up everything first thing Saturday morning before our wedding. Pick up also went just as smooth on Sunday morning. Their guys just rolled in on time and did what they had to do. We have received so many compliments on the tent and the furniture. Everything was perfect! Thank you so much for coming to the rescue! When I was younger I spent about 5 years working in wedding and event set up and rentals in Sun Valley, ID and have a decent amount of experience with wedding/event rental companies. Cantele provided a great service and my wife and I were both very happy with their work and the quality and condition of their rental equipment. They set up in advance, were professional, had attention to detail, and, since our wedding was during part of the partial covid lock-downs, were extremely helpful and flexible on helping us modify our contract to comply with the covid rules and to help us understand all the rules and restrictions that the state had put in place. The good: all the merchandise we rented was in decent condition. The bad: Where to begin...the day before our wedding James Cantele told us it would take 2 hours to set up everything. He left to go to another job site, which means he left us with nobody who could speak English. We stayed for a while and tried to explain to the workers (who didn't speak English) where and how all the tables and chairs should be set up. We had to leave to prepare for our rehearsal that evening. Upon our return, the tables looked like they were set up by a frantic person with no respect for detail or correctness and the chairs for our ceremony, instead of facing the Hudson River, were looking towards 9G. One of the workers at Clermont even commented that he had never seen a tent rental company set up chairs that way. So, my wife and family with the help of Georgia Ray's (highly recommended) spent the majority of our rehearsal evening correcting all of Cantele's mistakes. The worst part is we paid extra for them to set up per our specifications. Next, the following morning someone was suppose to have contacted us ahead of time to let us know when they would break down and collect rentals. Instead we arrived on site at 8:30am to Cantele's workers already breaking down tables and throwing out all of our table decorations, personal gifts, and party favors left from the night before. Many candle votives and mason jars were completely broken or misplaced. We should've recognized red flags of poor customer service when Mary, who works at the front desk and is the owner, was openly mocking not only our own table decor but the decor choices of other clients as well when we came in to do a trial run of our decor with their tables. She was also completely rude and unhelpful during the process of trying to figure out what happened with the horrible tent set up. In conclusion, they're the cheapest tent rental company around, but I will never give them my business again. If you do, expect issues and good luck. Disclaimer: Throughout the whole process we never once complained to Cantele directly about the incorrect set up until after we received a cold and unfriendly email from Mary regarding clean up regulations the very next day following our wedding. read more

Go anywhere else. Seriously. Anywhere. Rude staff, and if anything goes wrong, their attitude is that the customer is always wrong. Unreliable services, poor quality equipment, and they will argue with you. They treat customers like they are a nuisance to be dealt with, and have nasty people answering the phones. I often do things near Hudson, NY. I had a very bad experience with this company. They are defensive without cause, ineffective, and the office staff is appallingly rude. It was actually shocking, and I'm from LI. At first, I thought perhaps it was something about me that triggered a negative visceral reaction, but then I checked their reviews, and realized that they treat pretty much everyone with contempt. Frankly, the hostile human interaction is simply not worth my time, as they are not the only fish in the sea. My husband and I worked with Cantele Tent Rentals for our 2017 wedding near Hudson. The team at Cantele is personable, accommodating, flexible, and responsive. We loved working with them and they made the process easy and positive throughout. At moments when we didn't have the answers, James at Cantele expertly coordinated directly with our other vendors. We had a large outdoor wedding with 250 guests, and the Century tent from Cantele not only did the job we needed (in a surprise summer wind/thunderstorm!), it also was an aesthetic highlight of our weekend. Boy, do I miss the friendly customer service of Aviator Tent Rental, who were bought out by Cantele. Every time I deal with them (there are not many choices around here) I get an unfriendly distrustful vibe. Aviator used to bring a bill with the tables and chairs, and I'd give their guy a check. Cantle demands payment in advance, and when I just offered my Mastercard over the phone, I was told they would add a 3% surcharge, like a gas station. I was just told to bring a check or cash to their office- what a way to run a business. It's not the sort of approach you'd expect in friendly Columbia County. I made the mistake of using Cantele Tents at Brimfield. Never again. Disgusting Tent with broken connectors was $70 more than what neighboring vendors paid. Worse, unlike every other tent in the row, the tent was placed in the middle of the space which did not allow for parking behind the tent, and they did not maintain a staff on site to rectify their error, unlike every other Tent Company.. When I complained, Mrs. Cantele claimed she called and left a message asking where the tent should be placed, but I had given her my cell phone number, and there was neither a missed call nor a message. Nothing worse than when a vendor doesn't admit their error and tries to cover it up with a bald-faced lie. When she came to collect, she was nasty, unapologetic, and really pushed the cash option, presumably so she could avoid paying taxes. It should be noted that eventually they found another tent service to move the tent, but when that service arrived they refused saying the tent was too big. In short, perhaps the worst, vendor of any type, that I've ever used in 30 plus years in business. Use at your own risk. read more
