Tagliatelle Ragu small portion was great size and tasty 3. Osso bucco main was big enough to share 4. Tignanello and Guado al Tasso 2021 were outstanding 5. Tried this restaurant two weekends ago and this place was overrated. The interior looks elegant and clean. The service was good since it was not busy even it was the weekend. My partner and I tried their fettuccine with black truffle and it was not as good because the truffle flavor wasn't enough, flavor was lacking. Their Veal Saltimbocca with mashed potatoes and spinach was nothing special. Our overall experience wasn't that bad, except that we were expecting a lot from this restaurant considering the price we paid for. read more

Thomas the manager is a dream as are the servers , I had Daniel and the food is true to Italy. Loved the tonnato starter veal carpaccio with tuna sauce, great pasta, veal dishes, sides and desserts. Thomas is such a gentleman with every client helping work the tables, helping the people with their coats, just a great place and my go to when I visit Vienna. So pretty, lovely wine list and tiramisu is beyond amazing you have to order it. read more

Cantinetta Antinori is an Italian restaurant located on a quiet side street / alley in Vienna's City Centre. The ambience is upscale casual; the staff are friendly and attentive, but the food is average and needs improvement. We had pasta entries as a starter (which were good, al dented pasta with rich / intense flavors in their sauce); Vitello Tonnato (smothered in sauce and unappetizing); Calamari which was just "okay", nothing special and Veal Picatta (which was hard, chewey and tasteless). The best part of our meal was our excellent waiter, the delicious cocktails, fresh baked bread and the Peppoli Antinori EVO (olive oil). Recommended with caution. read more

Cantinetta Antinori was hands down the best meal my husband and I had in Vienna. After traveling around Europe and eating meat heavy dishes (which yes were delicious) it was such a treat to have a change of pace and cuisine here. Certainly an upscale, special occasion feeling Tuscan restaurant with luxurious ambiance - the fare is a pretty penny but worth the piggy bank. We were lucky enough to sit outside within view of the gorgeous St Stephens Cathedral. We shared the beef carpaccio with parmesan €18, lukewarm seafood salad with potatoes and mint €18.50 but the real show stopper was the entree...fettuccine with truffle ether 1g for €29.50 or 2g for €36.50. We both opted for the 2g option, with the mindset of go big or go home I guess. To round out the meal we had worthwhile panna cotta, my husband had limoncello and our waiter brought me a drink I couldn't tell you the name or the ingredients but it was phenomenal. Lastly I must say service was impeccable. We were quickly moved inside after it rained and at no point did we feel rushed to leave. Cantinetta Antinori is an easy 5/5 stars in my book. read more

A really great italian Restaurant just in the middle of Vienna. We went there for a dinner on a Monday night and the restaurant was quite full but not overbooked, but it seems to be very busy, so better book in advance. The service was great and the food was delcious. We went for the antipasti starter selection, the meat on this was excellent and the grilled veggies just perfect. For main we had risotto and a fish, both cooked to perfection. As a dessert we choose a tiramisu, this could have been a bit more dense for my likes, but it was also great. Antinori is one of the greatest names in Tuscan wine and they also have fine cuisine too. I was lucky enough to try the one located in Zurich back in 2005 and was surprised to see another one in Wien! I have yet to try the one in Florence and in Moscow. My expectations were high based on the delectable lunch I had in Zurich and was pleased to know that the Wien establishment held up to its standards of fine Italian cuisine. read more

Cantinetta Antinori This is a very good restaurant specializing in Italian dishes. There is a nice selection of Italian wines. The price is not cheap, but very reasonable for what you get. The pasta was very good. My husband and I enjoyed their dishes. They have a nice patio outside, but we chose to sit inside. The restaurant decor is friendly. We moved this morning from the ship to the Hotel Am Stephansplatz. We were able to check in early, have a nap and unpack. It was getting toward noon, so we asked the lovely young man at the front desk for a restaurant recommendation. After ascertaining what sort of food we wanted, he recommended Cantinetta Antinori, which is directly next door. We walked over and of course were the first patrons in the restaurant. As we expected, several other groups started wandering in as 1:00 approached. Cantinetta Antinori is a restaurant w/ locations in Florence, Zurich, Moscow and Vienna. There are tables outside but we sat inside. The walls of the restaurant are sponge painted a warm Tuscan orange. The ceilings are high. There is a bar along the wall by the entrance. We decided to share a green salad to start. I ordered a risotto w/ prawns, lemon and snow peas and Alan ordered linguini tutto mare, a mixture of seafood in a light tomato sauce. A small basket w/ a mixture of sliced breads was brought and the waiter poured small portions of olive oil for each of us for the bread. We ordered still water to drink. The salad was a generous portion of mixed lettuces, halved cherry tomatoes and sliced cucumbers and the dressing was a delicious vinaigrette. The breads were flavorful and the olive oil was green w/ a peppery finish. My risotto was lovely, full of pieces of prawn as well as two whole prawns on top. Alan gave me one of his mussels and I was shocked at its saltiness but said nothing. He took a few bites and commented on the saltiness. It was strong enough that he sent it back, which he rarely does, They made him another one and this was much less salty. Service was welcoming and correct. Less personal than we've become accustomed to on the ship, but we're spoiled. I observed regulars being greeted w/ hugs and kisses, which is always nice to see. It was a very nice first meal off the ship, but it was strange to have to pay for a meal again after 11 days on the ship and not to be fussed over. As I said, we're spoiled. read more

This review is about three weeks late but absolutely remains as essential now as it did the night we ate here. Cantinetta Antinori looks like most any Italian restaurant from the outside, albeit with a pretty spacious covered patio. But dig a little deeper past the surface and you quickly realize this place is not your average Italian eatery. For one thing, there are only four of these in the world, and that kind of exclusivity commands major respect in my book. For another thing, the list of "regulars" at this place has to be in the stratosphere as the place is seemingly packed nightly with frequent customers who know a great meal and an even greater atmosphere when they see it. And finally, if it's your first time here, you can count yourself in with the "regulars" as the staff make each and every person who walks through the door feel as welcome as if it was their 500th time dining here. By this point in our 10-day trip, we were over Viennese food. We asked the concierge at our hotel for a good, non-Viennese recommendation and this place won out. He made us a reservation, which "was a must," and we hiked over in the rain to the place, just a short jaunt away from the St. Stephen's Cathedral. The place was packed, but not too terribly busy, and the warm glow of the orange walls and bright lights made for a welcome sight after nearly drowning in the streets due to a torrential downpour. We were promptly greeted and taken to our table right in the window. Tables stretch far along the wall opposite an opulent bar, and a dining room opens up near the back of the restaurant. Servers and food runners are courteously making sure no one is left wanting assistance up and down the restaurant, and the owner is a picture of friendliness, going to each table and making sure all customers are enjoying themselves. We picked up on all of this within about two minutes of sitting down, and it only got better from there. With a bottle of wine ordered, our server kept us on track with food recommendations and answers to the dozens of questions we asked him. We ordered the ravioli as an appetizer and it was a great precursor to the rest of the meal: six big raviolis that melted in our mouths gave way to orders of Tuscan tomato soup that was beyond comforting on a rainy night such as this. We all ordered different entrees, from tortellini with prosciutto to taglioni with veal stew and an order of king prawns. And all of it was delicious. The pastas may take a little while longer than most are used to for preparation, but that's because you can tell the chefs here care about their craft. Trust me: the dishes are worth the wait. Despite eating enough food to possibly result in a heart attack, there was no way we were going to pass up dessert. Our server recommended a dessert sampler tray that allowed us to try a few different items, and you had better believe these followed in the footsteps of the excellent tastes of the entrees that came before. In fact, the tiramisu would have gotten five stars on its own. Even if you are not suffering from Viennese food fatigue, Cantinetta Antinori is worth a visit. There is a reason this place is packed with regulars, and you may find yourself wanting to make a repeat visit upon paying your tab. The owner personally thanked us for coming, shook our hands and continued his goal of making everyone feel as welcome as the next guest. Mission accomplished, I would say. read more

I edited this review after realizing there was a 4 euro service charge added to the bill without my knowledge. this never happened in any other restaurant in Vienna. if you go there, do not leave any tip!!! Absolutely enjoyed our dinner. from the greeting, the wait staff was excellent. Language was not a problem. the description of the meals was spot on. the food was great. they started off with a little chef's delight and it was delightful. wish i could remember what is was called but small dish of cut tomatoes, cream, and other spices. solid start. we had the antipasti and it was enjoyable. the vegetables made my wife happy, the meats made me happy. My wife, who is particular about what she eats, had the shrimp with garlic. She was very happy with the meal. Nice portion size, tasty shrimp and oil/garlic mix. (She took the last shrimp back to the hotel and had it with breakfast and still happy). DO NOT PATRONIZE WHATSOEVER! We walked up to the restaurant and no one greeted us even though we were waiting at the front door. I picked what I thought was the menu and the front door manager admonished me exclaiming, "that's the wine menu", instead of greeting or welcoming us. It was very condescending and then it went further downhill from there. Fifteen minutes later, we had to summon the waiter to order. He was emotionless (at the end of the meal he stated, "I only work here"), more on that later. Before we sat down, the "manager" said to us, "the kitchen closes at 11:00 p.m." It was 9:50 p.m. when we walked up. I looked at my phone and laughed mentioning it was only 9:50 p.m., which did not garner a smile. Just a stern stare. Our appetizers arrived and they were okay. My entree arrived. It was five medium prawns for 27 Euro. No noodles. I spent 50 Euro on five prawns, a measly salad and a glass of wine. Not only that, we had to summon the waiter for everything. Then here's the kicker! A 7 Euro cover charge. I called the manager over and demanded they take it off the bill. He refused and was a complete asshole about it. Thank you! No tip! No recommendations and you just screwed a world traveler with a lot of friends who visit Vienna. You will lose so much business for your antics and policies.
