Visited San Carlo for dinner before a concert and was so pleased with the experience. The food was beautifully plated and tasted amazing. My wife chose a pasta dish while I went with steak. Service was attentive, hospitable and friendly during our experience. We chose to sit outside which was nice during wonderful weather and a full patio of others enjoying their meals. Walking around Austria near the shopping district and stumbled on this Italian restaurant...it's almost hidden but not. We had a wonderful lunch on the patio. My carbonara was perfect and the pizza delicious. Wonderful wine list. Arrive was European lol. Slow but perfect at the same time. They don't rush you. I loved it. Very good Italian restaurant in Vienna. It is more of a 4.5 stars. 1. Reservation: needed 2. Service: very slow, not nice, not knowledgeable of menu 3. Food: Great Very generous amount of truffles I have ever seen in my life! 4. Drinks: okay. Water is expensive like 5 euro. No tap water 5. Smoking is unbearable. This was the best food I ate in Vienna and really the best gnocchi I've ever had in my life. The gnocchi alla napoletana were like fluffy little pillows that melted in my mouth. The cheese with the sauce was phenomenal. I absolutely would have eaten the whole plate if I had room. The staff are all fluent in Italian and it was fun to have this ambiance and the Italian hospitality. I also had the buffalo mozzarella caprese and while this was good, I think next time I would have skipped the app so I could eat more pasta - it is what they do best! I heard about this restaurant from a couple at my hotel that described it as a meal they would dream about for weeks later, and that is absolutely the case. Reservations were easily made online and I was able to get a table same day for a Sunday evening slot. read more

We passed through this restaurant quite late at night so we were surprised when one of the waiters approached us. The decor is nice and it is situated on a dimly lit street way so the romanticism is definitely there. Let me get the financial nuisances out of the way. There is obviously a water fee, but we were shocked when there was also a mandatory sit-down fee and bread fee. I say mandatory because we were provided the bread without any acknowledgement that there will be a fee for it and without even touching a single slice, we were still charged. The entrees are a bit pricier than what I'd expect but perhaps that is because of the quality of the foods? We ordered the pesto pasta and the porcini mushrooms. The pesto pasta was great. It was al dente and the pesto was practically glued to each stand of pasta. Imagine my surpised when the $16 USD porcini we ordered was practically 4-5 sliced mushrooms cooked in oil. There were no accompanying sides like vegetables or a grain. We had to combine the porcini with the rest of the remaining pasta so that it felt wholesome. Still tasted amazing, but WOW. read more

Great little Italian Restaurant in the city center. Cozy and friendly staff. Two seating rooms inside and outdoor seating in good weather. By myself and saved time by starting with a house merlot and moved to a house Pinot Grigio with my meal. Bread and olive oil served with the meal. Started with grilled octopus . Done simply and perfectly with endive and lemon to flavor. Stayed with seafood and had spaghetti with small clams and mussels for the main course. Paste perfectly al dente. And again just few ingredients put together perfectly and so good. No need to add all sorts of extra ingredients. Was a perfect meal, not too heavy on a travel day so skipped dessert but saw lots going around I probably should have tried! Great spot for some authentic Italian cooking. read more

I used to come here for lunch when I still lived in Vienna.. The restaurant is located right next to the opera with a nice little patio. This place is authentic Italian, owned and run by Italians. Coda di rospo is fantastic here and the pasta aglio olio always a winner. I recommend dressy casual or business attire and a glass of Austrian or Italian wine! read more

We tried the mushroom risotto and some white fish with capers, tomatoes, olives, ... Both dishes were very good. The large mixed salad was very large. I give it 4 not 5 because it is expensive, so expectations are high. The house chianti and the bread were ok. The place is busy, so get a reservation if you arrive at a popular time. We stumbled on this restaurant and what a lovely treat! The bread was fresh out of the oven and delicious. We ordered the pesto pasta and salad with chicken. The pesto was creamy with just the right amount of parm. The salad had a perfectly balanced dressing of spices, lemon and olive oil topped with avocado, tomato, cucumber, mixed greens, rocket, and grilled chicken. I've rounded up to a 4/5 instead of a 3/5 based on general positive mood at the restaurant - everyone seemed to be enjoying. Had a warm welcome and then was served a cold loaf of bread. Upon request they gave me some olive oil, perhaps butter or a side plate would be obtained the same way. I then ordered a soup I later found out they did not have last night. They recommended the tuna carpaccio. It arrived looking wonderful, but was completely (popsicle level) frozen. After ice-crunching my way through part, I just couldn't eat it. To their credit, they cared I was unhappy, gave me a new loaf of hot crusty bread and took care of the tuna matter. Pasta arrived piping hot and was quite tasty. The restaurant is small, cozy, lively and charming. I'd skip the tuna carpaccio if I were you though. read more

I was recently in Vienna and this restaurant was recommended to me. I had dinner at this restaurant twice in the span of three days. It might be the best Italian food that I have ever had in my life-and I lived in Italy for 6 months. The staff at the restaurant are amazing as well. I had a salad with shaved parmigiana with sautéed mushrooms for an appetizer and the mushroom ravioli with chanterelles on top. For dessert we got one of almost every one of their offerings-they were great. The mozzarella and tomato was delicious as was the veal saltambuco (sorry for the poor spelling).
