Cute restaurant in the main shopping area. There are lots of stairs in the place so if you have mobility issues, try to be seated on the main floor. Food was pretty good. I had a spicy salami pizza. It was pretty good. Service was not very nice. Our waiter seemed put out by having to take orders and bring food. He wasn't very nice. Definitely a different experience from other restaurants we've eaten at in Vienna. But maybe this guy had stuff going on in his life and it just manifested itself as anger towards the world....I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. In any event, food is decent here. We liked this restaurant so much that we ate here two days in a row. The restaurant is nicely decorated in an Italian style. As you enter, you will wonder if the A/C is working. Rest assured that the back room is air conditioned. Our waiter was highly professional and not only helped us with the wine and food, but also the local area. We thought the service was excellent. The food was very good and the wait staff were very friendly. The restaurant was very nice and quiet so you can hear each other without yelling. My only complaint and we did not know was that any restaurant in Vienna charge a "white linen" fee per person! I believe we paid 2-3 € for each person. They did not mention this charge to us when we sat down. We only found out after we received our bill and inquired what the charge was for. We later found out that any restaurant that provides white linen service has this charge so beware. read more

Solid Italian spot in the middle of the action. We came here after a terrible experience with the staff of a neighboring restaurant. This experience was completely different, the staff was friendly, welcoming, attentive and prompt. I had the lobster spaghetti my wife had the risotto with lobster tails, and both of us felt very good about what we ordered and ate. My family and I were in the mood for Italian after a long day of sight seeing. We were not disappointed! The restaurant was a lot bigger than we expected. Really nice decor and ambiance. The food was excellent and the service as well. We started with the antipasti, which was good (prosciutto was excellent). After reading all of the great remarks about their pizza, a couple of us got pizza (margherita and carpaccio pizza) both we're very good. We also got linguini carbonara, mushroom risotto, seafood risotto and the ravioli. All were excellent (we all tasted each other's meals of course!). I wish wine glass serving was a bit bigger but I'm a wino so... The price wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be but I think that's because two of us had pizza. So, consider the daily or house soups because in a better restaurant like this, it's bound to be freshly made and delicious. We had a great time. Sitting outside on the patio. Service was nice, friendly, but not intrusive. We tried the prosciutto and melon and the buffalo mozzarella appetizers. For dinner we split a pizza and a basic pasta dish, both were excellent. For desert we split the panna cotta and the chocolate ice cream rolled in truffle and chocolate powder. Also, try the garlic bread - very nice and unique. Easy walk from St. Stephen's Cathedral. Vienna has many excellent restaurants, but I can't wait to go back to this one. read more

This highly-touted Italian eatery was charming to look at, but ultimately no match for Osteria Giotto on our home turf. We had an early reservation due to a concert that started relatively early, so the restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived. We were shown to a table in an intimate corner and started with a couple of Prosecco-based drinks that arrived flat. When we called our waiter's attention to the lack of bubbles, he said that they shake the drink before serving. WTF? Effervescence gone instantly. And, I swear, it took 15 minutes to get the drinks delivered. I'm an almost empty room. A Caesar salad seemed to be a good choice to start, but it was made with lardons in the place of the authentic anchovies, and the body of the dressing was cloyingly sweet. Pretty awful. Thumbs down. Penne Bolognese was a mixed bag: the pasta was perfectly al dente, but the meat in the sauce was more of a suggestion than a fact. The spaghetti a la Carbonara was too light on the egg and too heavy on the cream. I guess, when in Wien, do as the Wieners do. Suck it up and head for dessert and coffee elsewhere. This is a touristy Italian restaurant that serves average Italian food. I've been to this place several times, and it's always consistently average. Based on their food, if you live in Vienna it's really not worth it taking a trip into the 1st Bezirk to eat at this place. Here is the food review: Pasta - I had carbonara (and this is a great, simple dish that will tell you if the chef knows what he is doing), and it was below average. Full of heavy cream, not really flavorful. Pizzas - wafer thin. NOT a Neapolitan pizza joint. The dough (the most important ingredient in a pizza) is just not right. The pizza just doesn't burst with flavor. Desserts - again, average at best. Tiramisu, zabaglione - bland and flavorless. The kicker - crazy expensive for this food quality and type. I don't think that Danieli will see me again for a very, very long time. read more

My wife and I ate here, on a whim, just two days ago. She had the strips of fillet and I had the Argentinian ribeye. The meals were fantastic. We kept telling each other how lucky we were to have just happened upon such good fare. I got my steak medium and it was spot on... They didn't try to overdo it. The meat was cooked exactly as I had hoped and was juicy and tender. It came with a slab of herb butter on top that, when smeared on top of the steak, accentuated the steaks flavor. The potatoes that came with my meal had been cooked in what I think was minced bacon and onion. I couldn't stop eating it though I usually avoid potatoes. Overall a great experience. Also, it did not seem to be very expensive given the experience provided. We even made a second trip a few days later because we knew we would enjoy it again. If you are a fan of proscuitto, try the melon and proscuitto appetizer and/or the rigatoni with proscuitto and chanterelles. I also got to have the carpaccio appetizer, and the spaghetti e vongole. Their wine menue is very detailed and do not leave without trying their limoncello, a lemon liqueur that will blow your socks off!
