Buckle up...this is a long one, but people deserve to know our experience. Last night, we had an emergency with my daughter's show steer. He was very sick, so I called for emergency vet services. I spoke with the answering service, and she assured me the on call vet would call back within a few minutes. Twenty five minutes passed with no return call. I called back, and the answering service seemed shocked that no one had contacted me. I waited another 15 minutes...still nothing. I called a third time, and she said, "He's taking my messages, but I'm not sure why he isn't calling you back." Finally, the vet called. He told me he was sick in bed and unable to help, which I completely understand. But then the conversation took a turn. He said, "Y'all don't use our clinic anymore, correct? You said you would never come back after the last time." He was referring to an incident we had previously with their front office staff. Months ago, we took in a feral cat to be neutered after being quoted $65 over the phone. We specifically told the staff he already had his rabies shot and only needed to be neutered. When my husband picked him up, the bill was $185. He asked for an itemized breakdown and was told they would only provide it AFTER payment was made. Turns out they had fully vaccinated the cat and treated a wound on his face without ever contacting us for approval. Had they called first, I would not have had a problem with the additional care or charges. The issue was that they made those decisions without authorization. My husband was understandably upset and handled it poorly in the moment, but he later apologized. I also called the clinic afterward and explained that my frustration was never about paying for treatment...it was about authorizing additional services beforehand. Eventually, the clinic refunded the full amount at the doctor's instruction, even though I specifically told them I did NOT want a refund. Back to last night... The vet told me that because we had supposedly said we would never return, they no longer treated us. He then informed me that pneumonia is rampant in cattle right now and that my steer needed to be seen immediately that night. But instead of referring us to another veterinarian within the practice or helping us locate emergency care, he simply said there was "no one else" and told us to drive three hours to Texas A&M. Then the call ended with: "Good luck." To be clear...he absolutely has the right to refuse service. It's his business, and that's his choice. But we're talking about a child's show steer that represents a huge investment of time, money, and hard work. At that moment, I wasn't calling about a past disagreement. I was trying to save an animal. I would think that, as a veterinarian, helping an animal in distress would come before personal feelings or past conflicts. Thankfully, we made the drive to Wills Point Vet, and they were absolutely fantastic. They treated us with kindness, urgency, and compassion. Our steer does have pneumonia, and we are praying he pulls through. At the end of the day, this boils down to human decency and compassion. I simply want others to know our experience so they can make informed decisions about who they trust with their animals. read more

The vet is great. Majority of the staff is great. The gray haird woman with the glass called a office manager is beyond rediculas to deal with . All my neighbors warned me about her . We stopped going her two years ago with out dogs because of her attitude and had to come back with my goats due to only local and she still has that attitude where she shows her big teeth smiling and treats you like she can't be fired . This time I picked my goat back up and said never again will I deal with her. She also lied and told the guy in back I said he did not know what he was doing when I said he was confused as to why I was bringing a goat . She flat out lies to him read more

My bulldog puppy developed Cherry eye at 11 weeks. I made the three hour drive from Fort Hood to see Dr. Eberhart, and it was very much worth the trip. On the advice of my Dallas Bulldog breeder we opted for removal, not a tuck. Dr. Eberhart is her vet abd is very trusted. The procedure was extremely fast, my puppy was great afterwards. I was provided with everything I needed for the trip home in case there was bleeding. The vet phoned me to discuss everything before starting as we waited in the car due to the virus. Such a nice clinic, doctor, and staff. Everyone was very friendly and helpful despite the Covid-19 going on. I went and grabbed coffee while I waited for her to be ready to go, but it was very quick and painless. Great staff, affordable. They did her boosters, and rabies as well. Saved me a second trip to the vet that's near my home. Thank you so much, The Duff family. read more

Worst vet I have ever been to. My dog had a cut down to his bone and was bleeding out. We called ahead to make sure they could take us. We went in and the place was empty. They sat us in a room and closed the door. We sat there for 45 minutes as my dog was bleeding out. The doctor was in the kitchen eating dinner. My boyfriend went to the front desk to make sure they knew we were still there. The front desk lady dropped her towel and said "We only have one doctor right now, you are going to have to wait your turn like everyone else." We will never ever go there again. We took him to Wills Point and he now has 8 stitches. Rudest and most inhumane people I have ever met. read more

I'm only giving 1 star because I have to to post a review. We took my sons dog here. This vet told my son that his dog had a cancerous mass and needed to be put down. Period. Luckily I convinced my son that we needed to get a second opinion, where we were told some of the issues were due to a bladder infection, which meds made a world of difference over night, and although there's a visible mass it does not appear to be as bad as what was told. Our boy came through surgery perfectly, for a hernia! Not cancer!!! and he will make a full recovery with many more years of life ahead of him!! Thank goodness for second opinion!! The Canton Vet would not even discuss any other options. He should be ashamed of himself!!!! I would not take any animal here! read more

I moved here from the Woodlands Texas to Canton. I went to Canton vet after we were here for a short time and bought our Portuguese water dog and had it shipped here from Pennsylvania. I took my dog to Canton veterinarian clinic and immediately when I walk in the door, there was a disconnect. the front desk people were immediately a red flag for me. They were cold. They were on the computer talking to me never looked me in the eye never looked at my dog, never even interacted but to ask my form of payment and it would be a 5 minute wait. The backstop and assistance were amazing but I never never saw that never met the vet. Even the second time I went for the second round of shots I never met the vet never saw the vet. I don't even know his name! That's unheard of I've never heard of that! My friend told me about Athens animal clinic and told me you have to go there. I could not believe it. They came out with banners on almost like fireworks. When I brought my dog in and my cat it was truly the most amazing experience that we have ever had at a vet. Take your extra time and drive the 30 minutes. I did take my cat to get spayed at Canton because Athens couldn't do it and they were booked for a few months. prior to that I took my dog to Athens animal clinic to get neutered. They spent 30 minutes with me before he went in to tell me all of the procedure how it was going to go and what I should expect. they were so caring you can't even believe it! When I took my cat to Canton veterinarian clinic, I literally walked in to get her at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, and they just handed her to me literally just handed to me with no postop instructions nothing I should go by no no anything they just handed her to me and I mean the front desk lady handed to me not a nurse not an assistant. I literally put my cat in the car came back in and said well, what should I do? What should I expect? What do I need to look for. The lady at the front desk said oh she'll be fine I said should I put a cone on her? I've already ordered the pillow for her neck so she didn't lick herself. The lady said no, no bother no bother if you see her licking you can do it but no, don't worry don't worry. I will go ahead to Head with them if they deny what I'm saying is correct because that was the most unprofessional veterinary clinic I've ever been to. Our 16 year old mutt became very ill. We must moved here and went to this office. In spite of not knowing us, Dr. Amanda Armstrong spent about 30 minutes with us, gave us some meds to try, and told us to call the emergency number that night if things weren't well. We had to do that and she called back right away. We ended up having to put him down the next day, but she and assistant (also Amada) were very passionate and patient with us doing this. Sad, frustrated, angry... there really are no perfect words to explain the experience I had at Canton Veterinary Clinic today. I had a close family friend refer me to this clinic to get my kitten neutered so I had no hesitation taking my animal here as my friend takes all her pets. Didn't even think twice! I was thrilled to go in fully trusting. I came out from Dallas and spent what was a very pleasant day touring around Canton waiting for my pet to be ready. Things felt very tense the second I walked into this clinic and spoke to Kelly (she always sounded pleasant on the phone.) As I handed my animal over for surgery Kelly asked if I was there for his rabies vaccine & neuter to which I firmly corrected no, only neuter. My kitty has just been given his rabies vaccine last month. I called our other vet to get his forms faxed over to the office asap as I could already sense that something weird was going on. So I left and went about my day! Again like the very thorough and communicative person I am, I called Kelly mid day to confirm that they had received kitty's records and honestly to remind the staff that they did NOT have permission to give any vaccines as they were not necessary. Guess they dropped the ball on the first fax so I had it sent again. Either way, my message was crystal clear. Fast forward to 3pm and time to pick up my pet. I walk in to pay and sure enough my heart sank as I was told my kitten had been REVACCINATED and that they did not receive the fax from the other vet until it was too late. I immediately requested to speak with the vet and was holding back tears as I tried to stand my ground. Dr Eberhart was the vet assigned to my kitty. As I walked back into the room to privately speak to him he basically went on about how he trusts no one and has so many criminals and untrustworthy people bring their pets to him. His words to me "I have no reason to trust that what you're telling me is true about your pet having his rabies vaccine until I am proven otherwise. I am a Christian man." Not sure why that was necessary but sir, that was not very christianlike of you. After he let me speak and heard my words he refused to take it out of my amount to be paid. $16 is clearly worth it to him to be prideful over. We ended up splitting the cost $8/$8 which is truly comical. I feel like I was downsized to nothing by this clinic who clearly thinks they have a right to do and charge you whatever they please. Luckily my kitty should be just fine and the neuter was a beautiful job & only reason for my 2 stars because I AM fair. These are extremely unfair people. Do not take your animal here. read more

The receptionist spoke to the vet and then informed me they wouldn't supply the treatment as they had no "prior relationship with our ranch". I brought my dog here after she had been gored by a hog. They took great care of her and she stayed for several hours. When I picked her up, and received meds and the bill, I not only received a happy go lucky pup, but a job well done and a very affordable bill. No charge for the follow up and no problems to boot. I absolutely hate taking my dogs to the vet. Recently I had to take my oldest dog here after she was attacked and had to leave her overnight. They did what they could and I took her home the next day with meds and care instructions. I had to go out of town and ended up having them board my dog less than a week later. I have never had to leave my dog anywhere and I was worried sick about having to leave her here after all she had been through. I was worried she would feel like we were abandoning her here since this would be the 2nd time we would be leaving her here at the vet but when I arrived and opened the truck door, my dog jumped out and excitedly ran to the door. I thought that was kind of strange for my dog to be excited about going to the vet especially after what she had been through. When the vet tech came to the lobby to take my dog, my dog could not contain her excitement, she was wagging her tail excitedly and whining trying to pull away from me, she was so happy to see her. I'm guessing my dog bonded with her from her previous stay and she is now one of her favorite people. Thank you so much for taking such good care of Tasha!
