It was my absolute favorite trip down the river so far. We had the pleasure of rafting with Corbin. He was AMAZING. Not only did he have us laughing and kept us safe, but he TRULY embodies the raft guide personality. Like I said, I've been down this river 5 times now - I thought I had witnessed all of the fun things there were to do on the river rafting, but I was so incredibly wrong. I haven't laughed that hard in such a long time & the pictures from ACE show how amazing the experience really was. After this past weekend, I won't raft with anyone but ACE & will request Corbin for future trips. ACE is keeping the spirit of rafting as it should be. Rafting. Fun. Adventurous. Great job ACE & great job Corbin! He is truly an asset to your team.

Im very glad life vests are required because my kids were so brave jumping all around. I was a little nervous but the life vests made me feel much better. The zipline was very fun and the operator was so kind with my youngest when he was trying to do it. He got too scared so he backed out but he'll get it next time! A great way to tire the kids out in the middle of a roaa trip?

I tell ya one thing right now their frozen skip jack head is literally the best frozen skip jack…read morehead cut bait I've ever had the chance to fish. Jon the manager seemed to know the ins and outs of different kinds of cut bait and he learned me a fishin tellin to em thang or 2 bout some dang cut bait. It blew my mind. Then i got in a tube and floated all the way down to berry's campground and it was frickin awesome but then I started to panic! I realized that I had left my vehicle all the way at the Bypass Sales store. There's no dang way i can walk all the way back up there with a tube. I was defeated....i was lost....i felt hopeless. So i sat on the beaches of Berry's Campground hopeless with only the skip jack head I had just purchased from the store thawing at my waiste. It began to smell ripe and it cheered me up a great deal. I knew the kind of fish i could catch with this kinda bait let me tell ya....as all hope was lost i then looked upon the driveway that people drive into to get to the campground. A white van started to approach me and upon this van there was a sign. "SHUTTLE SERVICE BERRY'S CAMPGROUND" with its dark tinted windows my heart began to sink. The van pulls up right beside me and the door slowly opens. What happens next is awesome!!!! A man steps out. He looks like he is a dressed for summer and is having himself a damn good time with a smile on his face and the most fly sandals i've ever seen in my life and his shorts the neon green was something of the gods. The man spoke to me, it was like heaven to my ears a choir of long forgotten gods. "Hey brother name's Mark do ya need a lift?" At first I couldn't believe what I was hearing. This couldn't be true. I couldn't speak, but somehow it's like Mark understood my problem. "It's ok buddy just hop on in we'll get ya to your car." I just walked on my own I didn't instruct myself to do it it's as if his calming demeanor made my legs move on their own. I knew that i would be safe. I then watched him in admiration loading up my tube and life jacket. He meant bussiness. Then in a instant before i inhaled my 3rd breath to a full exhale I was already standing by my car right down back at the Bypass and as I looked up the road I could only see traces of the white van up the road in the distance. Jon the manager then approached me outside. He asked me if I had fun. Fun? I said to him. I feel like I was a part of an episode of Touched by an Angel. Jon understand stood and he smiled. What a incredible day!!! 25 bucks and 10 dollars for the skip jack head.....can't top it period. Shuttle Driver Mark i'll never forget you dude!!!! GOD BLESS THE BYPASS!!!!

What a great way to spend a summer day. This is a rafting review, we only came up for the day, but…read morewe are already talking about next year and doing a two day visit and double our rafting fun. We picked the Lower New River, a full day adventure. We kicked off a little bit before 9 and had a quick equipment assignment and then climbed aboard a well seasoned bus. Its a bus and it served its purpose. During the ride we got a basic but funny safety briefing. You can tell these guys love their job and enjoy making life fun. After about a 25 minute ride, we arrived at the departure spot and got assigned a raft. We are a family of 4 so they assigned two more people to our raft and our guide, Jackson was phenomenal! Seriously, Jackson is so chill and personable, we could have just hung out and listened to his adventures in life. He did a really great job making everyone feel welcomed, valued and appreciated. For me, I know I would have been barking rules at our novice tubers, but he just gave specific instructions on what to expect, what to do if the 'in case' happens, and provided assurance that he would protect everyone. He also provided fun little facts about the river and history of the Gorge. We saw class II to class IV rapids and there were some intense moments. It took me a couple rapids to figure out that Jackson would strategically place our boat in the best part of the rapids for maximum effect, which made this ride so memorable. Despite sometimes facing a wall of water, we always felt in control and hearing Jackson hooting and hollering like a kid gave the assurance and reminder that this is 100% fun adrenaline. The river water was cool and refreshing, not shockingly cold in July and the levels were high so we had a good time. We did stop half way down for a lunch which consisted of either meat/cheese sandwiches or PB sandwiches, potato salad, a pasta salad, watermelon, chips & salsa, and a desert. It was good and sustained everyone. The second half of the day the river was even better than the first half. At the end, we got picked up by the bus with an even shorter ride back to AOTG. They provided a couple coolers of ice cold water, soda, and gatorade for the ride back. Once back we showered, changed and checked out the photos of our trip. This was an 11 out of 10 experience for my family and like I said, we are already planning on coming back for a 2 day trip.

Partly because there were no four seasons in the area (mostly joking) but also because we were in WeSt vIrGiNiA and wanted to get in touch with NaTuRe we decided to go outside of our cocmfort zone and picked some closer to nature options. This was the second. We went with Kaymoor at Adventures on the Gorge. Thjey have the full scale between literal camping and hotel-like, I believe we chose the most hotel-like option. I wanted to do the glamping but there were none available about a month before our trip when I finally got my shit together to book shit. Check in was super easy. We were given a key and a treasure map of how to get to our "cabin" which was easy to drive to. It is a legit cabin in the woods but will all amenities one would expect staying in the a hotel. Great bathroom and shower with a ton of towels, bedroom and separate lounge room that included a mini fridge. TV, wifi, climate control. There was even a cute little porch with chairs in the literal woods. It is so cool. AC worked great. The shower was great. They provided more towels than I'm used to getting at hotels. The bed was SUPER COMFY. I literally don't have enough good things to say about this place. Such a good choice.

AMAZING TIME and I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting that wants to float on the river…read more Now, you float for about an hour and then they pick u up and take u back to the beginning where u can do it all over again. Reasonable prices to tube and they offer a tube for cooler's. They have a small store where you can buy soda's, ice cream, and snacks. You can leave your cooler at the landing spot and they have grills set up there where they'll provide the charcoal and light the grill for you. Park, pay the tubing fee, take your receipt to pick up your tube's. They'll hold your driver's license and you can hang your keys at the gate. The River is clean and clear! It can take a good hour to get down to the landing spot or you can hang out in the river and relax. There's two landing spots. The first one is before the small rapids and that's where the grills are located. The second landing is shortly after the rapids. If you get out after the rapids you'll have to walk a short distance to the first landing where you can enjoy a picnic or grill out before boarding the buses to return to home base. Staff are professional and friendly! There's two bathrooms and a shower at home base where you can cleanup or change clothes. I've been three times and I've enjoyed each time. When the River is low the water depth is up to your knee in most place's and can go up to your waist in a few places. The depth of the River after the rapids is what I'd say requires swimming in some areas. If you can't swim or aren't wearing a life jacket I wouldn't go down the rapids. Their season goes until the end of September and during September they're only open on the weekends. They open at 10:00 a.m.
