You have to be upper class to come to this church. My family and I are low class and you can tell by our clothes I guess. We got alot of dirty looks. It felt fake and like we were not welcomed there. I don't reccomend this church to anyone unless you are around in the surrounding areas. Not only that you can't join 80% of the other activities because you need money and alot of money. I cannot judge the hearts of those who serve at Canyon Hills. However, I will share some pertinent information for those who intend to attend this church. I visited Canyon Hills and signed up to receive information about groups, bible studies, and etc. Six month later I received no information or contract in regards to my inquiry that I filed at 7001 Auburn Campus. I have received recently, a letter from the Senior Pastor requesting a donation to remodel the lobby, and many parts of the church. When I surveyed the church structure during my visit I found it in impeccable condition, and yet now there is a thrust to renovate it? It looks already recently renovated. I am Vice President of Christian Humanitarian organization, 2) a Christian certified child counselor, and 3) a international crisis response responder. I could have helped in many areas of the church, but my services are now no longer rendered. I have attended the extension and autonomous church of Canyon Hills, Upper Room, and found a similar disposition; the answer seems to be if you are not Assemblies of God you are treated with suspicion, and you can share binging involved in saving thousands of souls, and if it wasn't an AOG (Assemblies of God) outreach you have the conversation redirected to AOG, and are told to attend the Mission 111 (or 101) at the Canyon Hills Church College known as Sum. To sum up this church on the summit, I asked for info about groups and gave all my contact info, made it clear I wanted to lead a group and am qualified, but I received no contact for six months, but when the church needs redundant and superfluous renovations (and upgrades) I am suddenly contacted via mail with a donation envelope and letter urging me to give money (see 2 Corinthians 9:7, 2 Corinthians 8:12 in the Holy Bible to know what the Apostle Paul says about giving). So the question stands, which God do you think this church serves? "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money." (Jesus Christ, Matthew 6:24). read more

Canyon hills is a really great loving church they do not judge you they accept you how you are. They offer a wide spread of classes and services. The children's ministry is awesome kids love it and the pastors for the children are great. All of the pastors at this church are kind and loving and godly. Canyon hills is very active in Bakersfield Ca they have a very large outreach for this city. They are very active in world wide missions and local missions. Came and check this church out you will love coming here and will want to come back here and continue to come back. One more thing people here at this church do not take things for granted they are very thankful for what they have and they give glory to the lord. Come and check it out. This is an amazing Christian church I have been attending here since I was in junior high and love the atmosphere and the people who welcome you every Wednesday and Sunday. I actually help volunteer every other Sunday through Fort Faith which is for the youth (kindergarten to sixth grade) the pastor for this department is amazing and is truly a kid at heart! I love this church!! I happened to find it in 2014. I live on the opposite side of town, so ours difficult to make it as often as I'd like to, and I attend a different home church, but when I can, I go. There are plenty of groups, home studies, and services to fit everyone's needs, preferences, and schedules... it's a fairly large church, but there are many ways to connect with people and the leadership is open to suggestions if you have any ideas. They're warm and welcoming, and there's a vibrancy to the life of the church that can not be denied. The 1st time I walked onto campus, even before coming through the doors on a Wednesday evening, I felt the Holy Spirit encompass me. I love that there's a family community presence of God vibe, despite how big it is! I'm always spoken to, be it on a Sunday morning or Wednesday night. I'm thinking about switching churches back to this one once I get a car... riding the bus can be a hassel if you're not accustomed to walking long distances, because it's at least a 15-20 minute walk to the campus from bus the #41 bus stop. I served as usher, greeter, assistant to the administrative assistant, and even as an offering collector (w/e that position is called, lol). I really encourage you to check out young adults on Sunday evenings (6pm) called Upper Room... across from the downtown DMV, located where the old Golden State Mall use to be located... all ages, walks of life, denominations, and cultures are invited! Hmu if you want someone to sit with and I'll save you a seat or 2! Be blessed and stay in genuine fellowship, wherever you end up plugging into!! God speed!! Oh, and I particularly appreciate their heart for the disabled and aged... and their rockin' children's ministry!!! read more

Today we attended church at Canyon Hills for the first time. The word given by the pastor was anointed, I very much enjoyed it, as did my husband. However, I'd like to share why I'm giving this church a 1-star. The campus has a coffee shop on premises, so we decided to grab some coffee before service, no big deal. All was going well, until we were stopped by an usher just before entering the main sanctuary. I didn't have a drink, so I went on inside, but my 14 year old daughter was stopped at the door and asked to drink her drink outside of the sanctuary in the lobby. No biggie, or so I thought. I noticed my daughter hadn't come inside with our group, so I went out to check on her. It wasn't until we were in the car that my daughter shared with me that the usher had grabbed her by the arm and escorted her to an area near the men's restroom. I was very very disappointed, having been in ministry myself, I know that in no occasion are you to touch a child, especially one you don't know. This includes grabbing, hugging, etc. my child doesn't know the usher, nor was she presenting herself in aggressive way, so why would the usher take it upon herself to grab my daughters arm? This message will be passed on to the head pastor, but I doubt we'll be attending this church ever again. Very very disappointed. read more
