La Feria East, West and Breeze Wood RV Parks are contiguous, owned and operated by the same people…read more Observations; Some La Feria RV Park West and Some RGV: Workers and customers were friendly and polite. The resident assistant managers had a laissez-faire approach. They tried hard to keep the customers, workers and owners happy. After the 2022-2023 season most staff resigned due to the owners failure to inform them of new policies. Population in the park is consistent with small villages; teetotalers, imbibers, religious, non believers, MAGA enthusiast, independents, never MAGAs. Rates, electricity and essentials are competitive. The park is adult only, meaning young adults with younger children are permitted. Locals are friendly and polite. Feels safe to walk the streets. The locals have a great street festival in February. The park has a variety of activities. Park is clean and mowed frequently. Clubhouse, restrooms and laundry area are clean. Hot Tub is relaxing when working. Mail is sorted daily. Facilities are dated and worn. Always have some water stored in your potable water tank. The old water lines break often resulting in outages and muddy water. The city water in La Feria is nasty tasting and smells. Most buy purified bottled water, now $.50/Gal, or have the individual treatment systems. Local establishments includes McDonalds, Whataburger, Subway, Church's Chicken, Stripes, Stars, Dominos, Subway, Little Caesars and Dairy Queen. A CVS pharmacy. Three local diners and a wing joint. Multiple dollar stores and a Grocery/Hardware store. Quiet late evenings, early mornings and weekends. Ambient noise is manageable, particularly for those with some hearing loss. Eight miles to the nearest Walmart and major stores. 10 to 15 miles to the better restaurants. 7 miles due north of the border. 16 miles from the safe Progresso border crossing. 50 miles to South Padre Beach and SpaceX Boca Chica. 35 miles NW of Matamoros MX where it has been deadly for visitors. Occasional train track noise within two city blocks. 5am to 9pm interstate traffic noise within 75 yards. A large concrete block manufacturer within 2 city blocks causing fine dust blowing into the park. Burning the Cane can be a problem for those with respiratory issues and allergic to black ash. A heavy manufacturing facility near the rear of the park has a noisy exhaust fan. Head Start is adjacent to the rear of the park with the happy or not so happy children's voices. A dozen older park models. Annually there is at least one stray dog or cat that wanders into the park. The Winter Texans try to find them homes. The occasional rat will find its way into a unit, damaging electrical and plumbing. On one occasion a rat made it back north with the RV. Gnats and flies are plentiful during the warm/hot days. During sunny 90 degree plus days many RV AC units struggle maintaining a comfortable temperature. Ants and termites can be a problem if precautions are not taken. Mosquitos are unmanageable in the summer after a heavy rain. Flooding has occurred during the summer and the clubhouse has suffered water damage. Sewer gas oder is noticeable in some areas. Occasionally there are heavy wind gusts exceeding 35 mph. Each year someone loses an unattended awning or power lines come down. Avoid parking under a transformer if possible. Electric poles with a transformer have blown down causing a RV fire. A generator is nice to have. In the past much of Texas has been without electricity for longer thn your batteries can supply power during sub 40 degree temperatures. La Feria is economically challenged ranking in the bottom 10 percentile of many economic categories. Medical care in the RGV is adequate but overwhelmed at times. During the height of COVID, one fatality and around a dozen positive cases of customers choosing to ignore safety measures. New owners are nickle-and-diming long term loyal customers having last minute medical or rig trouble and not being able to pull out on their schedule date. New owners in 2022 with many rumored changes in 2023 and beyond.

Kent and Karen - the managers of the West side are SUPER NICE people. They made the stay so much fun. Plus we made so many friends there that we HAVE to go back for at least one more winter. Just enough activities within the park to keep you as busy as you want to be. Plus LOTS to do in the area.

When showering if someone else runs the water you will get scorched by the hot water in your shower. I had to call the police once for a guy walking in the park that appeared intoxicated. Price was very reasonable and the people we met were absolutely awesome . Many things to do and all were very enjoyable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I did enjoy our stay overall.

I was in the area for the 2023 Texas Master Naturalist annual meeting. I don't like to stay in…read morehotels, so I turned it into a camping trip and brought my RV down. I usually stay in State Parks. Unfortunately, the Benson Rio Grande State Park, which was immediately across the street from this lovely RV park, does not have camping. After carefully studying the area for good RV places to stay, I decided on this one. Two other couples from the Alamo Area chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists also stayed there. I can't say a whole lot about the facilities, as I had no time to enjoy any of the luxurious amenities available. I can tell you that this was the most beautifully laid out RV park I have ever seen. The entire place is landscaped with Texas natives. The varieties of flowers that were blooming was nearly overwhelming. The birds flying all over were equally enchanting. I probably could've thrown a rock from my camper to the border wall. That was interesting for me. I watched several border patrol vehicles passing by on the street just outside of the fence. I felt 100% secure the entire time I was there. The park is only 9/10 of a mile from the National Butterfly Center. as I mentioned before, it is also right across the street from the state park. In fact, there is a gate that takes you directly to the visitors parking for the state park. The resort was extremely quiet. I don't know if that would be true when it is filled to capacity with Winter Texans, but I wouldn't be there. The seasonal price is really high. The location is only about 8 miles from downtown McAllen. It was very convenient to get to all of my field trips and the conference at the convention center. The RV park is under new management. The couple that runs it are two of the nicest people you could ever meet. They are extremely accommodating and welcoming. They have a wonderful place, and they really know how to run it. I will stay at this particular location anytime I am in the area in the future. Since most of my time was taken up with conference activities, there is still a lot of exploring I would love to do in that area. The Rio Grande Valley is an amazing place for birding. I would love to do more of that.

The trip to Taiwan in March was amazing, and I have been Panama twice before that, both Canopy Lodge and Canopy Tower. I am already looking forward to my Hawaii adventure this September, as well as Puerto Rico and Ecuador next year. I solely choose Nature Ninja for several reasons. They make every experience seamless and special. I appreciate being able to relax and focus on birding while they handle all the logistics. The guides are fantastic and work incredibly hard to ensure we all get on the birds as well as reach our birding goals. Additionally, they have a variety of trips to multiple locations and have a variety of trip lengths which helps to meet scheduling needs. The accommodations and food have always been exceptional and are part of the package so no additional cost to eat every night like many other trips. Probably the worse place we have stayed. First no hot water, then scalding hot water that burned…read moreme. Then every night we heard scratching and chewing in the walls -mice, rats? After several complaints they set up a couple of traps outside. Did nothing so I slept in a chair till we were able to leave early. Loud music and noisy trucks that sped by a few feet from the door. Dated and unkept not only in the trailer but throughout the park. When we complained the maintenance guy only asked how soon we were leaving. Tried to bill us for an additional 500 in the beginning. When we had NO hot water told me to take a shower in the public showers. Felt like I was living in the slums as a lot of places had trash etc stacked up outside. A lot of uncovered electric outlets - a hazard and dangerous! To top it all off the train comes by several times a night. Horrible experience!
