My child has been bullied from kindergarten up to 1st grade. The staff and teachers do nothing…read more I'm not talking about words and name calling I'm talking about bloody messes, scratches, trips to the hospitals, stabs from pencils. The school want to keep a good reputation for school academic only. Trust me when I say that this is all they are worried about. There are a few great teachers though. There is no parking, you have to fend for yourself to try and pick your child without getting a ticket everyday. A parents and child crossing the street were struck by a another parent driving fast. Staff arguing outside about parents not parking in the right place, when the isn't parking for parents at all. It's a disaster.

I asked her for help with resources for before/after school care, since we had a few tardies. She asked us why we moved to this side of town if we cannot afford a nanny. She offered to buy us an alarm clock to help us get to school on time. That was her only source of help or solution she brought up. She also said we could reach out to our neighbors for help if we needed it..? I asked to sit in my daughters class as I am concerned with how her teacher says she's 'concerned for her education' and that my daughter does not listen but then cannot provide actual examples. She does not have these issues at home. It's been 3 months of me asking and they have NOT ALLOWED ME TO SIT IN even though I have filled all prerequisites and have previously volunteered in the class. The teacher also mentions how there is a lot of homework missing, even though the work she refers to is 'optional' homework. Why is this counting against my daughters grade? Also, one week we did not get homework, I asked for a homework packet from the teacher. Instead of just sending a packet home, she ignored my messages, took the time out to write out a paragraph in her parent newsletter about what to do when homework is missing.. blamed us for losing the first one and said we could print one out online if we needed it. After 2 emails and 3 days, she finally sent one home. All that effort for us to do word search and reading log homework..instead of just providing the work in the first place. My daughter is only in 1st grade and this is her first year here. We plan on looking at other schools. Do not let your kid go here..their butt in a chair is just a paycheck. The staff have shown they do not care and will not help you if you aren't wealthy and donating money to the school. They're a bit clique and all very stuck up. I have received NO help, NO apologies for their behavior and attitude toward us.. they do not care about the families who's kids they work with every day. I wonder how they treat the children..

The staff is very dedicated and helpful and the communication between the school to the community is constant and consistent. Wardlaw has a systematic team approach to student interventions that made a tremendous impact on children's achievement. My family is truly blessed to be a part of the Wardlaw for the past few years and they have laid the foundation for my children's success with their education.

I feel they punish students in an unfair matter. The teachers are awesome, except a couple who in my opinion should be fired. Some staff are great, nice and firm when it comes to bad situations, but the way they punish the students here is unacceptable. For example, 'what's the name' will talk to the principal something happened like she punched me or some crap like that. No matter what staff it is in the entire school, they will only punish the people who were blamed. Not even asking their side of the story. He was suspended mutiple times due to being bullied and him getting upset. This school staff would lose my son and call me to come find him on campus. Also, sent him to mental hospital without notifying his parents then told me they didnt know where he had gone. And couldnt explain his whereabouts. They let other kids bully him who were white but refused to disapline the children. This school is full of gangs and the staff refuse to look at evidence when presented to them. I spent everyday going back and forth to the school mulitple times to get my son on track because the school doesnt have sufficent supervision for the children. I have heard from several of the students about sexual activity that happens on campus in the garden area where students can go because they know there are not enough supervision on campus. I have had students try to sell my son drugs on campus and seen students vaping in front of the school. I tried several times to remove my student from the school only to be told they would try harder. Finally i just put him in homestudies to avoid the stress of having to school my son at the school because the teachers do not emply any type of discipline!!!!

Love the parent evolve involvement and extra curricular activities they offer after school each semester. My daughter took fencing, cooking, Spanish, computer coding, and gardening. The grounds are well maintained and large enough for the entire school to fit. Morning drop off and afternoon pick up can be a challenge but if you give yourself an extra 5 minutes it's worth it.

She shared a story and even showed fake tears of her and a story about someone in her family with Autism. My son has been able to read and write since he was two. We was told that one of the reasons is because he speaks African American at home, which is why he is having speech problems. My son would come home in tears saying that Cindy would make him feel stupid and he would have to always say sorry for his actions. We than went out and had a individual test of my son and they was heart broken to hear how a teacher could make someone so intelligent feel shelled in and insecure at such a young age. We pulled our son because of the protesting going on in front of the school and Cindy saying she can't do anything for my son because she is a public school teacher. Cindy called one day and asked if we can bring a toy so she could use it a pacifier for my son. I told her no that he has been in programs since 2, she went against what we said and bought him a toy and told him not to tell his parents. That was the last straw and he was pulled from the school immediately.

Not only is it diverse in racial/ethnic make up, but also in socioeconomic level as well, which exposes my kids to all walks of life--this is sooooo important in raising today's children.
