He cleaned up his toys when asked, apologized when he hurt someone, said please and thank you, and even cleared his own dishes and wiped his spot at the table after dinner. That kind of independence and empathy at such a young age was extraordinary--and entirely due to the care and structure Miss Cassie provided. By age 4, my son was reading, writing his name, cutting complex shapes, counting to 100, and could name all the planets in the solar system along with their characteristics, among many other advanced skills. If you want your child to gain lifelong social-emotional skills and enter kindergarten well above grade level, this is the place. There were few red flags at the beginning, but being new parents, we kind of brushed them off. Big mistake: 1) Ms Claudia tried to change the diaper of our 1yr old daughter. She tired to have her lay down on a changing pad, which our little one would have none of it. Our girl was hysterically crying and trying to break free from this woman who has "extensive experience". We couldn't believe what we were seeing: Ms Claudia totally ignored our girls hysterical crying, and continued her "left-right" story as if this is normal. It is not normal. My wife made sure to let her know that our little one has never cried like this, not even during her vaccine shots! 2) During one of our visits, we heard barking from one of the rooms, and were told that one of the dogs recently gave birth that there were 6 puppies. I love dogs, but 6 puppies + 2 adult dogs in a fairly tight indoor space is not ideal when toddlers are trying to nap. We made sure to read the Parent Handbook and fill out the forms and pre-pay for the first month tuition, even though we were just starting the 4-week Trial Period. Our child only attended 2 days (in the Trial Period). I informed Ms Claudia that we will not continue further, and only ask that we are refunded for the pre-paid monthly tuition ($1,995). In her Parent Handbook (pg 14) it clearly states the following: "At any time during the four (4) week trial period, if the provider or family feels that this is not a suitable arrangement for the child, the contract can be terminated by either party without penalty, notice, or specific reason. The security deposit will be refunded in full and the family will only be responsible to pay for the days attended." Totally reasonable. We had no problem paying for the 2 (gentle days) she attended along with the non-refundable registration fee. But there is a catch! When I brought up the tuition refund, I was informed that the "tuition" is non-refundable. A tuition paid for a month in advance, where my child never attended a single day. You've gotta be kidding me! I will seek legal advice since this is clearly breach of the contract we signed with conflicting details.

They go out of their way to make every child feel comfortable and cared for. My son can be a handful; he's energetic, can be wild at times, and is very selective about the people. They have been nothing but patient and kind with him. I want to comment about Ms. Jackie because I recently saw a negative review about her, and it made me really sad to see what was written about her. It's tough to see something like that written about someone, knowing that words like those can really hurt a person's character and reputation. I've never seen any of the behaviors mentioned in the negative review but only kindness from Ms. Jackie, even the times I would drop off my son and didn't know I was there. She's always sweet and patient, especially with kids who are having a rough morning. My son is talkative and not afraid to speak his mind if something's wrong. If there was ever anything off, my son would be the first to tell me if Ms. Jackie was not nice. Even in the older kids' classrooms, the staff and teachers are friendly, nice, and acknowledges you during drop off/pick-ups. It's a place where I know my son is safe, respected, and genuinely cared for. I'm so glad we found Learn and Play Montessori.

Will you appreciate dealing with a rude and unprofessional site director (Lizette)? 6. Do you like leaving your child with undervalued and unhappy teachers? 7. Would you be okay with other children having "behavioral reports" on record, despite the site director's son's consistent behavioral issues being ignored? 8. Do you appreciate escalating an issue to the site director's boss, only to have it swept under the rug because the two have each other's backs? 9. Do you don't think high turnover of teachers and staff is normal? 10. Are you okay with no transparency and accountability? We walk into a huge class of about 34 children and one teacher playing a keyboard while another is standing with them. All the children are standing with very little space to move trying to follow along. There was no sense of organization. As she is showing us the school she interrupts us to loudly tell the children that they were not singing loud enough and that they needed to be louder. Okey, I figured this was supposed to be something that children do for fun. Let them be children! Not that serious & not all children are the same. Some children are a little more quiet/shy than others. That is okey ! She preceded with telling us all about HER,HERSELF,& HER. All about her credentials and her degrees with the amount of time it took her to obtain them. "Me & my staff are all very educated". So much she forgot to explain her curriculum or if she even had one. Outside they have a animals locked up. They have a big old Tuttle in a small plastic container (about the size of a shoe box) with no room to walk. The lady precedes to tell us that "she is very old". They also have a rabbit in a cage. We finally get to sit down to try and see what schedules she offered and her cost. Prior to discussing anything she hands me a form to fill out. She doesn't explain what it's for or what it is but she just says "fill it out". The form was asking for all of my daughters info such DOB and things like that. I told her I would feel more comfortable to fill out a form like that once I have made a decision on whether she was going to attend that school or not. She got INFURIATED and told us to leave because we were coming in unidentified and suspicious even though we had introduced ourselves over the phone and in person prior to walking into her house. (If this is her patience threshold with an adult ! I can only imagine with innocent children). Question is: If you felt we were suspicious from the get and you knew you had other children under your watch while we were touring... why did you let us come in ? I wouldn't let someone suspicious come in my house specially when I have so many children that are not mine under my watch. The area: homeless people smoking and talking to themselves outside in front of a large main intersection. Finally, the student teacher ratio was horrible. I asked her how many children she had on a regular day and she said anywhere from 26-36! Wow I don't know how she got her license for that many children in such a small location. We have watched our youngest (now 4) blossom here over the last two years.
