Unethical, Unprofessional, and Unacceptable Experience…read more Our family had an extremely distressing experience with Broward Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. My grandmother, who has Alzheimer's, was admitted for long-term memory care. Within 48 hours, the facility abruptly and unprofessionally discharged her without proper assessment, communication, or discharge planning. The community liaison (Richard) contacted my mother--her legal guardian--in a frantic and disrespectful manner, demanding that she "come remove her mother from the building" and blaming her presence for "messing up his reputation." Shortly after, my grandmother was sent to the hospital without notifying the family in advance, and we were later told she had been discharged from the facility entirely. This is not just poor customer service--it borders on patient abandonment and reflects a complete lack of compassion, ethics, and professionalism. No 30-day notice was given, no medical records were reviewed before admission, and verbal agreements made by the facility's leadership were not honored. We've since filed a formal complaint with the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), CMS, and the Long-Term Care Ombudsman. If you're considering this facility for a loved one--especially one with memory care needs--I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. -- Yvette F.

The only saving grace during my time there was the therapist I had. In the afternoons, clients were…read morerounded up and taken to the multipurpose room, where we were allowed to pick movies to watch. Most of the movies focused on drug use, sex, and violence. The administration and higher-ups were horrible. They did nothing but talk and offered no real support or leadership. The entire place needs to be cleared out, with all staff replaced, including the full administration. This is especially true for the COO. There were a few good BHTs and therapists, but most stayed quiet due to bullying and mistreatment from senior employees and administration. There was also a clear racial bias at the facility. Both care coordinators need to be fired. They were hateful and condescending individuals.

i am currently a patient at this place. This is the ghetto of all rehabs. My only alternative is…read moreprison and they use that against us. Majority of the time there is feces on the toilet seats. We just had an employee fired for making homosexual passes on patients. His name was Mr. Oswald. I personally found and bagged a live bed bug and brought it to Mr. Laquinton Cotton who simply shut that room down and reopened it 2 weeks later. nobody, ABSOLUTELY NOBODY, ever came in to spray or anything. I personally witnessed another patient tell a kitchen employee, I'm gonna bust your brains out, and Mr. Cotton simply told him not to threaten staff. Mr. Cotton and Ms. Donnalia care nothing for the recovery or well being of any patients here and we cant do anything because alot of us are here instead of prison. And we live under the threat of, "We'll just call your probation officer and get you out of here and put someone else in your bed. programs like these get paid per patient per month. We are only a number. Ms. Donnalia and Mr Cotton are not fit to run a rehab. This place needs immediate attention and we need help.
