It does however have some nice shoes and boots, and there was a reasonable amount of accessories on offer. The best thing about this charity shop is the book selection. Despite the small size of the store, they actually have a very large selection of books - which is great news for all you second-hand paperback lovers. If you can manage to squeeze through the rest of the charity shop stock, that is. In other news, this shop sells quite a nice selection of homeware such as classes, ornaments and vases. Some is second hand, but some is new - and the new stuff is actually quite nice. You might also be interested to know that they sell a range of new hair accessories. This includes wedding-style "fascinators" as well as general headbands. I'd had my eye on a 1920s style flower headband for a while, but hadn't been too keen to pay £15 for an Urban Outfitters one. British Heart Foundation to the rescue - they had one for £1.99. Bargain.

I sometimes will look in, but I don't really see anything different than any other charity shop. I wandered into this one because I saw a bag in the window that was just what I was looking for. Inside, I found more; Clothes, jackets, shoes (lined up and displayed properly, the opposite of which is a personal pet peeve of mine); books (alphabetised), DVD's, CD's, and videos. The clothes are probably the best I've seen for a charity shop. Most of them are from notable high street stores, and the mistake that most charity shops make is that they notice the tag and then mark up the price. I don't necessarily feel that's fair considering it's used clothing. But this isn't true for the British Heart Foundation. They know what they've got, and they modestly price everything so that neither party feels as though they're getting ripped off. I like that. It's like ethical shopping.

For the past few months I've been hunting for a wooden box - and as luck would have it, Mr A spotted just what I was after in here, for a fiver. One quick visit later and it's on my fireplace. I was in the area so made a point of calling in to see what stock they had in. It's not often that l see a modern well stocked & organised charity well this shop this one of those What did they have? There was rails of modern & vintage clothing with window displays that where thought out most items where vintage - retro & collectable small selection of jewellery in two display cabinets. There are shelves around the shop some had women's bags others had modern items but everything seemed like quality, there was no tacky ornaments or what l see as junk. Expensive? Well not really I've been to some charity shops and found others that I've been to very expensive and can source items that they sell cheaper brand new. The prices here where pretty good. I managed to pick up some collectable pint glasses at £1 each l also found a game controller for £4.99. This Bernardo's charity shop is a pretty good one and if you are looking for some good vintage items you would love this shop. Definitely be back.

In fact, it's actually a nice shopping experience, which is something that sadly can't be said for a large selection of shops of this sort. It's a lot bigger and roomier than your average charity shop - and they actually have a really decent selection of clothes. Like all charity shops, they don't make it hugely easy for you to find the good bits and pieces, but a bit of a rummage will undoubtedly unearth something quite nice. Last time I was in here I spotted a Ralph Lauren wool jumper for £6.99. I suggest you get in on the action.

Clothing and accessories seem to be its strongest area - perhaps people associate this charity shop over the others as an apparel donation point for all the clothes it sells. The staff certainly do well in laying them out - while the volunteers don't at any point paint it as a vintage stop off, the staff seem to calmly get on with sorting their stock into appropriate areas. It's fun raiding the rails and coming out with a designer brand. There's scores of high quality knitted jumpers and designers for guys such as Jaeger to keep everyone happy. The stock is all priced reasonably considering the area it's situated in, and it's difficult to come out of here empty handed!

During the bright sober light of day, it's very easy to mosey on past; but in the deep, darkness following several happy hours it is mesmerising. Their stock mostly consists of somewhat dodgy cloths; dog eared books and those strange ceramic ornaments that are surely not still being made but are seemingly forever multiplying. However, with this stock they manage to magpie out the shiniest items and arrange them in a pretty decent display in the window. So, the chances are your incoherent attention will be grabbed by the window display. Yet, when you purposely revisit the window of wonder, all will not seem as it did. On closer inspection, the merchandise is just as you'd expect in any other charity shop (if not worse). Good enough for a quick look and the window displays often show the best item so there's less call for you to rummage around. However, the true gems from here will be few and far between. Though, the drunken awe is always a nice experience.

When l think of a charity shop l normally think of charitable donations from members of the public, but sadly charity shops have changed over the years and the number of items that are bought in brand new to sell outnumber the donations. With staff that don't talk unless they are demanding payment it actually sadly sounds like most other charity shops in the area. I do remember a changing room in this shop many years ago but they converted it into an office for all the managers & supervisors that they employ. This was once a good shop, now it's one that l deliberately pass to avoid.

Now normally I can never find an entire suit set to fit my odd body, but clearly this suit was purchased by my future self and left to charity I passed... yeah, that must be it. Beside this, the vibe of this shop is a little dif from your regular charity joint. The chick who I've seen in here on most occasions, has a slight hipster / librarian vibe going on, but minus the aloof manner. With this in mind, you can see that she puts out some effort into digging through the mountains of gear to find the odd hidden gem. So yeah, for vintage gear in the West End at non West End price... you could do worse than check out this joint.

There's so many of them and they are all exceptionally well stocked! PDSA is no exception. Although it's small it seems to always have a wide variety of donations, all selling off at a reasonable price. There are the usual PDSA branded ornamanets to be found in here - all animal orientated gifts, naturally - but this palce seems to get donations varying alarmingly from clothes to gardening equipment! I have always been lucky when I've visited this charity shop, and have come out with nearly new dresses from New Look, some music and jewellery. For a while now they have been doing two for £10 on ladies and men's jackets which all look in spanking new condition (and quite expensive!) The shop assistants are always very complimentary, too. I like these charity shops that don't try to be overly trendy, and just quietly get on with supporting their cause. I felt like this charity shop fell into this category - stock was in good condition and well displayed, but not tagged with "vintage" to follow the neverending West End trend for this kind of fashion. In a place like this, you feel like you're allowed to excavate for your own treasure, and in this establishment there were a lot of good quality clothes and interesting accessories to be found. There were a number of eyecatching ornaments and hidden gems waiting for the right home. I don't know if I've over done the charity shops recently, but this one tugged on my heart strings as there was a giftboxed packed with fridge magnets indicative to someone clearing out a person's house after they had passed on. I don't know what gave me that overwhelming feeling of loss but at times going around charity shops can be sad as you see the hobbies of someone else being expelled from their previous home to be enjoyed by someone else. Saying that, they are obviously donated so someone else can appreciate them, and it's comforting that such items are rehomed in good taste, for a good cause. Apologies for being morose....perhaps I should give the charity hunts a rest for a while. I'm not even sure what I'm looking for anymore, I've seen too much!! But as far as charity shops go, this one is very comprehensive and with appropriate information leaflets around the store, it reminds you of the cause it is concerned with.

Larger selection of clothing than before, and the back area has a large selection of household items. I bought some books & some glass ware, sadly there was no paper to wrap the glass, I was offered a bag but that was 5 pence. Not much use when I had a back pack with me. Still a good shop with a good book & DVD section.

So yes, in many ways this shop is just your average Charity shop - but there are a couple of…read moreinteresting things about this place that are definitely worth mentioning. 1) They have a "media" section complete with retro hippy-esque posters and 70s wallpaper. This mainly consists of VHS tapes and CDs, but you will find a couple of DVDs and tapes. (Though I didn't see any records). Check it out for the decor alone. 2) They have a vintage section. This makes up the second part of the "retro section" at the back of the store, and the decor continues to this section too! Basically, they've separated anything out from the rest of the stock that looks like it might be retro or vintage and put it on a rack at the back. Some of the bits are a bit grannyish - but they do have a couple of nice floral dresses. Plus - they haven't whacked up the price too much. Result!
