Our family just wanted to share the most pleasant experiences we have year over year with Cape Cod Shipbuilding. These folks are nothing short of amazing. We return year over year to have Wendy and her team store our boat for the winter and perform all our maintenance. Each season, they give the boat a thorough look over and provide us an outstanding report of the condition and anything to be on the lookout for. We have them sand and bottom paint regularly and each season they have our boat looking pristine, on our trailer and ready to go. Anytime we have a question, Wendy and her team are prompt in getting back to us, no matter how rookie of a question it is, many times the same day. This current year we were debating about switching bottom paint. Wendy was super helpful and responsive to my emails about different types of paint and costs associated with making a switch as well as pros/cons of each. Full disclosure, we did purchase our Cap Cod DaySailer from them a few years back, and I can say they made the whole boat purchase, building and customization process amazing. We routinely received photos of our boat as it was built and even got to visit a few times to see her at different stages of completion, pick out our own tiller, and even spoke to the folks in the shop about a custom wood inlay on our tiller, which had never been done before, but these wonderful craftsmen/women made it happen! Additionally, Wendy helped set us up with an array of spare parts to have on hand for our DaySailer. They were fully stocked and we purchased a spare parts bag from them that had all the crucial things that we'd be likely to break and could easily replace. In addition, they have all the parts for the boat, since they are the class builder, and are routinely featured in the DaySailer magazine. Check them out if you're in the market or need help, what a huge help they have been! Keep in mind, we have a new DaySailer, which differs from models of years past, for those needing help with older boats. Either way, if you need help, I know these folks will do their best to help you out themselves as best they can or, at the very least, point you to the right folks in the boating industry that can assist you with your specific model of boat, DaySailer or not. Our relationship with Cape Cod Shipbuilding started when we purchased a sailboat on eBay in Wareham - not our home port! We had to scramble to find a place to store the boat for the winter. Wendy and her staff helped us immensely. They fetched the boat from its mooring nearby, hauled it out, told us what they noticed about the boat when they hauled it (bent rudder). In the spring we started to work on it, and had CCSB fix what we either couldn't or were too tired to fix :) Communication was always excellent. When we ran into trouble again when it was time to sail away, they continued to work cheerfully with us. I don't think we would have experienced the forbearance they showed us at another shipyard. This old boat and her aging mariners were very lucky to find CCSB. read more

We purchased our Mercer 44 sloop twelve years ago from a second owner who did not take care of it. We sailed it for two years and now have restored it over the last 8 years with the help and advise of the Cape Cod Shipbuilding Co. Sea Fever has once again become a beautiful sailing boat. The design is excellent and the original craftsmanship was so good that we have no issues wiBith her hull, deck or rigging. These folks are the parent company to O'Day sailboats. They have abdicated all spare parts to DR Marine. Rudy with DR Marine is so ready to retire his unresponsiveness is inept and neglectful at best. I have reached out to Cape Cod Shipbuilding for help. Got none. Wendy the owner demonstrated a lack of help by still ignoring the O'Day community. There are dozens of frustrated O'Day owners in the forums discussing their difficulties with ordering parts through DR Marine. People who have placed orders but never received their orders. If Wendy owner cared she do something but it's obvious she's only in it for the money! IMHO this company demonstrates lack of caring and I would never ever consider buying a boat from them. So shameful they deserve my insults, read my other reviews I more than fair. I expect a cop out response from Wendy, like DR Marine is a separate business even though she's coy to deter customers from restoring their O'Days and instead buying one of their new boats. Received an estimate for repair of damage to the centerboard trunk on a 15 ft Galillee sailboat. One of the items in the estimate was for installation of 2 inspection ports in the cockpit as well as the removal of some foam and water from the hull. For just that part of the estimate the materials were $23.00. The labor was $490.00. They charge $70.00 an hour for labor. The two ports, I assume, would be cut with a 4 inch circular blade (the kind used to install a dryer vent). To cut and seal both ports would probably take 1/2 an hour leaving 6 1/2 hours to remove water and some foam. My friend and I removed almost all of the water from that boat before taking it in for an estimate. I don't know much about boats but I do know when I'm being taken for a ride. read more
