We did this based on an excellent experience in our previous home in Annapolis, MD where they did a large basement renovation project for it. They helped us install a beverage refrigerator in a wet bar, put recessed lighting into multiple rooms, and installed ceiling fans. The work was extremely well done. We also had them do all the work while we were away and we came home to the work 100% finished and the project areas spotlessly clean. During the entire process our project manager communicated clearly via email and text messages about our project. Their communication and professionalism is unmatched. SLOPPY and INEPT…read more Run, do not walk AWAY from Bohan Contracting! For 2.5 years we have been dealing with this inept, insulting, incompetent company. According to several subcontractors, Bohan was a good company initially, but they became greedy and took on too many projects. According to subcontractors in the area we have consulted with, superior Annapolis contractors refuse to work for them, in a few cases calling out their "designer" Jaime Esposito in particular. Bohan parked a huge dumpster in our driveway, insisted that we be out of our house in early January 2022, though the work on our house didn't start for MONTHS. Bohan's trucks from other parts of town would arrive nightly to dump their garbage. Bohan's workers told us they weren't allowed to dispose of refuse in the other neighborhoods in which they were working. That speaks to the consistent mistreatment of us and another family on our street who hired Bohan, judging our neighborhood to be not worth prioritizing. They are still not finished with either project! They've left us twisting in the wind -- but have had no problem collecting money from us. We were told we would be out of our house for 5 - 6 months and it turned out to be almost 16 months! The cost was almost TWICE their quote. Bohan's workers barely spoke English, were sloppy, didn't measure anything and were completely unskilled. On one visit to the site, they had to find a child who spoke English to even be able to communicate with us. Every subcontractor Bohan hired appeared to be the bottom of the barrel. Every day we find mistakes and poor workmanship. It was, and continues to be, the most depressing and disappointing experience we've ever had. They refused to compensate us for any of the aggravation they put our family through. We ended up sleeping in the workshop of our carpenter son, who was unable to work for the entire 15+ months we were forced to stay there. The architect/engineer DAMES Design, who we had great hopes for, left out items such as the water heater, found egregious errors in Bohan's work (including going over her head to hire a different engineer) but then told us WE had to pay her an extra $2000+ for dealing with it! Avoid DAMES Design! Advice before renovating your house -- HAVE A LAWYER on hand to read the contract first and to be ready for litigation.

Due to their negligent work, I fell and hurt myself in my own house several times, resulting in expensive medical bills for my damaged left knee, right knee, and lower back. They decided to sue us, and they won, leaving me with barely $12,000 to fix all the mistakes they left us with. Meanwhile, they walked away with over $100,000. Look at the state of my house - it's a disaster. This company wanted put a mechanic's lien on my house, collecting over $100,000 for a partially livable house with only one functioning bathroom and a partially functional basement bathroom due to leaks around the tub from their failure to grout. Mind you they got paid every single dollar and then some old to them but I have to use the bathroom in a whole in the floor like I'm in a African jungle because that's how they left my bathroom. And other parts of my house. I'm constantly chasing vermin bugs and anything else coming into my home because they left my damage door like that. Instead of them doing the work like they were supposed to do they sat on their ass and did nothing until the last minute and crammed months of repairs and two three days. 3 days and they feel they even deserve even more than the $100,000 plus amount We don't even have a functioning powder room because they damaged the toilet, broke it, and the water has been turned off for 2 years to prevent more flooding in the house due to their work. Our dishwasher isn't functioning properly because they allowed their workers to dump trash, dirt, paint, chemicals, and mold down our dishwasher, damaging it. Our deck is damaged because they allowed their workers to dump heavy equipment, paint, wood, and other items, making it unsafe to stand on. I've been going through pure hell from this entire situation, and I'm walking away with pain and suffering. As I said before, run, don't walk, run, especially if you are a woman of color.
