Cape May reminded us of a smaller version of Napa wineries. Natali had interesting wines. Kate at Natali was very helpful & knowledgeable. Kathy at Cape May Winery was excellent describing their wines, the wine making process and general questions about wine. But Willow Creek was unorganized, the server was not interactive with our group, very minimal explanation of the wines and was not very knowledgeable about general questions about wine. Very young vineyard and the wines tasted immature. Please offer other wineries as part of the tour package and eliminate Willow Creek.

It all worked out completely fine. Rich was totally accommodating and worked with me. Don, our driver, is seriously the best!! He's so sweet and always had water ready for us. He took pictures for us everywhere and really completed the experience for us. So happy he was our driver! The food at lunch was GREAT. And the winery tours were so much fun. I'm so glad I booked with tastings and tours and would again in a heartbeat!!

He shared with us the story of the monkey and how he would repeatedly draw fan paintings. It was a fascinating tale. We loved looking at all the artwork and had a laugh at several of them. They stay in business through the help of donations so we made sure to leave some money behind so that the next person can be delighted as well. This place is a real class act! Bravo. This particular shop located in Avalon had quite a large collection of Dr. Seuss drawings, paintings & sculptures. It was recommended to us after we made an initial stop at their sister gallery in Stone Harbor. Along with the artwork were many posters giving insight into the man, Theodor Suess Geisel. I highly recommend both of these galleries. It's a great day trip for a beautiful summer day.

Wine slushies are my new favorite drink…read more Fellow Yelper Dee M and I headed over to Natali for "Wine Down Wednesday", an event they hold every week during the summer season. This no-admission-fee event offers food for purchase from a local caterer, wine and my beloved wine slushies. There was a young man singing and playing guitar. They also have their tasting room and store open for purchases. The location is lovely, rustic but comfortable, they've built a lovely building and covered porch. There were patio tables and chairs both under cover and out along the vineyard. We stopped first at the local catering tent. I got the pasta salad, which was delicious. Nice, firm pasta with a lovely dressing and fresh, crisp veggies. Very nice on a warm evening. Then to the slushies - which were all kinds of yum, kind of like a berry pina colada, very tropical. There were people milling about, we joined another group at a large table, a group of ladies, very nice. All in all, a pleasant evening. We decided we'd definitely come again next year. The also offer free self guided tours of their vineyards. Why only three stars? When I arrived with my friend on a Thursday early afternoon there was only one frazzled employee helping everyone. At the time there were only two tables sitting (6 people total) and the two of us. We noticed everyone sitting were doing tastings so we decided to ask if we could also take a seat. The woman was hesitant to let us sit but did. I really wish wineries would offer bar stools so you don't have to stand for your entire tasting. Since we were able to sit and relax we ordered a cheese and cracker platter. Very reasonably priced for the amount of food we received. After about 30 minutes there a huge crowd of people arrived. The one employee was completely overwhelmed. Finally an older gentleman came out to help her. Although the woman helping us was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wine the fact that she was spread so thin made it tough to get any personalized attention here. Hopefully they have more help at peak times.

Bottom line: the organizers do a decent job with this event. With a few minimal tweaks, it could go from "OK" to great. The positives are easy. Unlike a lot of these beer/wine festivals, the event is never oversold. Are there crowds? sure. But with 40+ breweries offering 100+ samples, we've NEVER had to wait for a drink. There's a nice selection and cross section of breweries too. Brand new local craft shops like Oaklyn NJ's Tonewood set up next to national brands like Yeungling and Sam Adams. The more intimate local shops have knowledgeable brewers on hand to give some insight into the hot flavors of the summer. The non-beer vendors are great too. Want to take a break from sampling to grab a Nick's Roast Beef or sausage-and-peppers? You can. Smoke a cigar or play some lawn games? Available. So why has't the event taken off? Why have they cut down from three sessions to two sessions? A few irksome but easily fixed negatives: One is the live entertainment. In three years I have yet to see a halfway decent band. Occasionally I glance over at the stage, it's always the same story - a bunch of try-hard locals trying to fire up the two or three people watching their Sublime covers. Whatever the organizers are paying these guys is too much. You'd get the same/better effect with a DJ. Nobody is buying a ticket to the Beer Fest to stand and watch a band. Second is the logistics of the event. I buy a ticket for 12-4 or 6-10. I'd like to be able to enjoy the entire festival. The organizers won't open up the lines to get into the park until after 12. So realistically, even if you show up at 11:30, you won't be anywhere near the sampling tent until 12:15. On the back end, private security starts chasing people out at 3:45. That was odd - considering vendors were still pouring beers and the music was still playing. Overall it's a good event. A few minor attention-to-detail fixes and it could become the best craft beer fest at the Jersey Shore.

If you like eating standing up this place is for you. They do have bleachers to sit on, metal hot…read moreones. The food Jacks ribs yum, the crab cake sand which for $10. skip it, the cheap crappy bun even makes it worse. The fried so called French, just plain pizza dough fried 3 for $7. It's a no. There are opportunities to become a judge and taste all of the competitors food for a fee as a class has to be taken first. Loads of previous winners have stands set up selling all manner of BBQ and also vendors of all sorts with BBQ related wares. This is also a Blues Festival so there are many bands playing all weekend long. Always a good time with good food and music. Definitely a must every Summer at the shore.
