This is one of the best botanical gardens I ever been too. Aside from the gorgeous gardens, it boasts an amazing collection of spectacular dancing fountains. Don't miss the Italian gardens! Also don't miss checking out their 10,000+ pipe, pipe organ. There are shows to hear this magnificent instrument several times a day, as well as fountain shows set to music. At night the fountains boast amazing light shows as well. During the Christmas season the gardens come alive with one of the best holiday light displays anywhere. This is a destination not to be missed.

Longwood Gardens 29th November 2025 Holiday Evening 7PM We were here during the holidays. As long time members of the New York Botanical Garden and Wave Hill Gardens in New York, we were blown away by the immense acreage and extensive splendor of Longwood. Longwood is funded by the DuPont family and is very well organized. There's much to see. Expect to spend at least 2-3 hours enjoying the spectacular array of flora. We're heading back this summer to see it in another season besides the gorgeous sparkly winter holiday season. Enjoy!

Longwood gardens has always been such a special place. Year round it has something new and exciting to offer. From stunning Christmas lights in the winter, amazing tulip displays in spring, a sprawling meadow, tree houses, and more. I love bringing people here so we can all explore the beauty of nature. Longwood has put so much into the care and keeping and expansion of the garden and the love and care really shows.

This place blew me away. I think it is more gorgeous than NYC's Botanical Gardens. The thing I noticed immediately was how immaculate the grounds were. I had to visit on one of the hottest days, 91 degrees. Put on your most comfortable walking shoes because there is a lot to cover. I couldn't believe that I actually saw a woman in 4" heels. Wear a hat, sunglasses and lots of sunscreen. - There is a 1906 Restaurant for fine dining. - The Café offers prepared foods and drinks. - I think you can book the ballroom for special occasions. - Their gift shop is a must visit before leaving. Beautiful handcrafted items, plants, and bonsais for purchase. Warning: their indoor areas barely offer any A/C. Only relief I got was in the gift shop. Even The Café didn't have any. It was 2.5 hours from where I live but so worth the drive.

No matter the time of year, it's always beautiful and festive at Longwood Gardens! I was able to enjoy the holiday season this year and what a wonderful light show they offer as you walk through the entire garden. Longwood garden offers both indoor and outdoor exhibits all year around and they have amazing displays of a variety of plant species! Everything you can imagine and as beautiful as the eye see. I'm amazed and impressed of all the exotic plants down to the succulents and cacti. Plant arrangements are all set with perfection and creativity and are an amazing work of art! You can enjoy the garden at your leisure and at your own pace. There's plenty of food outlets with a huge cafe and onsite restaurant along with an amazing, but fairly pricy, gift shop. Employees were also very accommodating with any questions and checking in through the gate was a breeze with your scanned ticket. Be prepared to be amazed and do some walking all day and be sure to have enough memory on your phone for all the pictures you'll end up taking! lol

Wife and I went to Longwood Gardens and decided to try the new 1906 restaurant. First the new area is beautiful and you can see the scenery from the bar. We decided to sit at the bar and try the starters/apps. We had the smoked olives, mushroom pate, veggie chips and lobster arnechie. Food was fantastic. Staff was so friendly, will definitely be back again. Remember to make reservations for sitting in the room. We were lucky to get seats at the bar

Longwood Christmas is always extremely magical and well put together! Tickets are required this time of year and could be extra for some memberships. No matter the weather, it can be pretty busy! This year's theme was gems, and they were scattered throughout the grounds and conservatory! Lots of jaw, dropping lights, decoration, and flower displays! Longwood also has a higher end cafe with lots of options for everyone! Always a great experience!!!

I Beg Your Garden 1,100-acre public gardens that's considered one of the "premier" horticulture display gardens in the US. It's been open to the public since 1921 thanks to the DuPont family, and welcomes in a whopping 1.6-million(!) visitors annually. The were also recently named "Best Botanical Garden in the US" by USA Today®** reader's poll. The Good: *Despite the popularity, this place never felt crowded because it's so massive. *Be sure to catch one of the water fountain shows, complete with music. *Open year-round *Lots of events so check the calendar before you visit. *Holiday light displays, if you're lucky enough to visit during that time of year. *Lots of indoor gardens, so even on an especially cold or hot day this wouldn't be a bad idea to visit. The Meh: *Kinda out in the middle of nowhere. *Not the cheapest at $32-35/per adults and $17-20/kids (5-18), but more on that in a minute. The Ugly: *Prices fluctuate by date and time. Hint: it's cheaper during the week. Conclusion: Amazing place to visit for plant and nature lovers alike. Highly recommended. **https://longwoodgardens.org/news/press/longwood-gardens-named-best-botanical-garden

Hubby accompanied me to A Longwood Christmas. We started with lunch at 1906. We chose the 3-course pre-fixe lunch option. The food and service never disappoint, even though our favorite person, long-time employee Natalie, wasn't working. John did a superb job for a wonderful dining experience. My first day visiting A Longwood Christmas exhibit in January, the last week of the exhibit. I must say Longwood was definitely not as crowded, and I felt like I had time to stop and enjoy all the floral delights and ask questions like how the plants are watered. There are underground hoses in every section, supplying room-temperature water. Even my husband had questions, like about the new conservatory: why are some windows on the roof open? We learned there is an automated system tied to the weather for internal climate control. The displays were still amazing and lovely, even with a few days before closing. And all those poinsettias that are grown just for the exhibit get mulched.

Longwood gardens is a must for nature enthusiasts. You'll easily hit 10,000 steps in a visit walking to all six districts . The greenhouse themes went from jungle to desert. One of the star attractions is the main fountain garden. Also worth noting, the well curated bonsai collection. The open meadows and paths through the woods are beautiful, especially in the Fall as you can see the changing leaves. The cafeteria has a variety of foods from soups, sandwiches, salads, even adult beverages. There is also a beer garden on the premises, where live performances take place. Parking was easy where staff guides you from the parking lot to the main entrance. The entire experience is enjoyable and relaxing. I can't wait to go back this Spring!

Longwood was *stunning* this year. We weren't able to get tickets the last few years so seeing all the new installments made the even more fabulously festive. It had snowed heavily the day before but everything at longwood was shoveled and salted. Everything looked so beautiful covered in snow, it truly was a winter wonderland! I was a little disappointed that the tree house was closed, but I knew longwood did it out of an abundance of caution since the steps looked extra icy. Parking lots were shoveled as well. There were little drink stations on the route where you could get beer, wine, or hot chocolate. I got the Bailey's hot chocolate and it was FABULOUS. So creamy and chocolate. Not very heavy on the Irish cream part but it was so perfect for the weather. It kept me toasty on the inside until we got to the cafe. I got the citrus glazed salmon entree that came with seasonal veggies and mashed potatoes. I wanted to get the leek and potato soup but they were all out. I bought a festive wintery hard cider which was refreshing and My husband stood in line for 10 min to get me a peppermint spiked hot chocolate that was the icing on the cake! All the exhibits were fabulous, it truly is something you have to see to experience it. I cannot recommend it enough!!

I cannot believe this was my first time at Longwood Gardens! This place is a magical escape into the gardens and the forest. Wanting to move our ticket time an hour later, we called the gardens first thing at 10 am, and did have to wait on hold for some time before getting help. I imagine many people run into the same issue as we did. However, we were able to change our ticket time with the $8 fee, though this was worth it for our schedule. We came in the late afternoon to be able to see some of the gardens in the light and also stay until after sunset to see the Christmas light decor. While all of the gardens were wonderful to walk through, the Forest Walk was especially magical at night. It was lit beautifully, and the lights syncing with the music was mesmerizing. I definitely recommend visiting Longwood Gardens and I cannot wait to come back in the spring for a new season of blooming!

Beautiful botanical gardens, wandering paths, treehouses, farm house galleries and so much more. I returned to finally get to see the 3rd treehouse my 2 children and I never got to see when they were little - too far for their little legs to walk. Now my son is 6ft 4" and about to enter college and my daughter is a busy pre-school teacher. Returned to visit with my son...happy we got to see the 3rd (and furthest) treehouse together, walk the meadows and visit the farmhouse galleries.
