Luckily my hair grew out pretty fast. That was the last time I went there. The staff are all quite friendly, but I wouldn't say they're all on the same level in terms of knowledge. I mean, that happens at other salons but these guys sort range from a scale of 1 to 10 and everything in between, whereas staff at other salons may range from 7 to 10. It's a nice and relaxing location and they make you feel welcome, but don't expect much - I'd recommend only if you're after a trim.

This is talking from a guys perspective of course. I've rarely seen females use this place, its mostly lunchtimes with guys sat down patiently waiting for their turn. They give you a wash afterwards. And a blow dry. And also,if you let them, they will gel your hair for you into whatever shape They think you should be wearing when you step out the shop. Problem: my hair is in a condition which can only be described as, well, barely a degree better than feral. Regrowth to the max, brassy 5-month-old blonde highlights, an in-between tint faded to a mud-colour and a chunky, out-grown cut. I frantically phone around in the vain hope that some stylist worth their salt would have a Saturday afternoon appointment available. One last call to a salon I'd not heard of...Sueño on Magill Road...blesses me with a rare 3pm appointment, and with an angel of a stylist named April, the kindest, sweetest, most ridiculously talented stylist I've encountered in a very long time. Walking into the Moorish-Moroccan interior, I feel like I've stepped into a lavish Bedouin tent, and there's a hive of activity as male and female stylists do their thing, but I'm still greeted by each with a big smile and a hello; this is a welcome change to the oft-experienced "blank stare" one can meet with upon walking into any given salon. Friendly Lia shows me to my chair and April introduces herself, totally calming my vibe with a chat about my hair and a drink order. Having been separated from my previous long-term salon when my usual stylist disappeared, and given the late hour, I was nervous and stressed; but this is fast dissipating in the mix of kindness, chilled vibes, professionalism and tea served in the Moroccan style. I can see I've been squeezed in, but I've not been made to feel like a hassle; precisely the opposite. April brings me a PRINTED QUOTE prior to starting (seriously, people, this is awesome...no fainting at the cash register when it's all done) and then with my approval, begins her magic. In two hours I'm transformed from sweaty mess with bad hair to glamazon. My colour (foils and tint) is nothing short of jaw-dropping. I walk out smiling, money well-spent (but not a ridiculous amount...Sueño really is a reasonably priced salon!) I flick my hair around as I walk to my car and just know that I've found my new beauty-haven. While I was getting my "do" done my hairdresser Joanna gave me some wonderful tips on how to maintain my cut, keep my locks shining golden and generally ensure I didn't count down the minutes until I could get out of the chair. I walked out with one of the best cuts I have ever had, including a $10 voucher for next time. I've come out of this hairdresser with red, purple, blonde and pink hair on many occasions (all deliberate), and though your parents might not agree with the choices you've made, you'll certainly be happy with the job that Sogo did. They also stock the hugely popular Japanese styling brand Gatsby - but it cames at a hefty price. You won't really have much chance of finding these elsewhere, so your best bet is to just bite the bullet and pay up if you won't your hair to be immovable like Pauly D or some Jersey jackass.
