Oct 25th, 2023. We've stayed here a couple of times before and every time, we have been quite pleased. Mike, the Owner, makes us feel welcomed. The park is quite clean, bushes are kept trimmed. Sites are extra wide and this year, we noticed new gravel has been added. Nice & level. The geese occupy the pond and they are fun to watch. There is a great, large dog run for pets. There is sooooo much to do nearby for tourism. Conveniently, . AW Shucks Oyster Bar is located within walking distant from our campsite. Casey, was working again this time. She is such a delightful young lady. We ordered beers and lunch. Cudo's to the Chef~ the Camp Stew with Hush Puppies is the BEST lunch !! We found Mike to be pretty flexible, he said we could arrive early at 10:00 but this time we pulled in at 11:30. He escorted us to our spot right away. Had an issue with the 50 amp electric, but Mike came right out and fixed it. Everything worked fine for our 3 day stay. They do close for lunch between 12:00-1:00, and the front office closes at 5:00... so keep that in mind with your travel times for arrival. If our travels take us North through Montgomery, AL next year...... we will stay here again !! read more

This is a great RV Park. Very thankful for the clean environment and the reasonable fees. Thanks to the money we saved here, we were able to make a sizable donation to the Equal Justice Initiative and the Lynching Project in Montgomery. This site is one of the most visited in Montgomery, but you won't find any brochures about it in the office. After seeing the owner's grand display of hats touting #45, we also felt compelled to make a hearty donation to Montgomery's Democratic Party. Thanks for making this possible Mike! read more

Very nice RV Park. Sites are clean with grass, gravel and concrete patio area at each site. The dog park is great. They were very polite when we checked in and escorted us to our lot. Just make sure you are there by 7pm to check in. No late check in! read more

We stayed at Capital City RV Park for one night while visiting relatives in Montgomery. When we arrived, the owner, Mike, checked us in and then escorted us to our site. We found the park to be super clean and well maintained. The lots are level and each have a concrete patio with table. There is a big dog park for your dogs to run freely. There is a pond with a nice sidewalk that goes all the way around. I think many of the guests stay for long periods of time but each site was very neat and tidy and the park was quiet and comfortable. When we went to leave, one of our slides would not slide in. The owner of the park stopped and offered his assistance. He crawled under the slide to see if he could figure out what the problem was and he called a local RV repair shop for us. He was extremely kind and helpful. We will definitely stay here again! Definitely a 5 star recommendation!! read more

July 11, 2019, while on a trip in our Prevost XLV bus conversion RV in the Montgomery, AL area, we suffered a catastrophic failure of the onboard diesel generator that supplies 120 volt a/c current to all the electric house systems, including the refrigerator/freezer, air conditioning, lighting, TV's, etc. The temperature in the bus quickly rose to over 100 degrees! We opened every possible window to try to create ventilation to no avail - after all, it's July in Alabama! So at nearly 3:00AM, we were left with no choice but to pull up stakes from where we were boondocking in a casino parking lot and seek a nearby RV park that had spaces large enough for our 45 foot bus with 50 amp electric hookups. Our GPS indicated Capital City RV Park was only 15 miles from our location. So, unable to sleep in the stifling heat and soaking wet with sweat, we set a course for this apparent God-send! We arrived at almost 4:00AM, found a suitable empty lot space, quickly parked, shut down the engine, hooked up the electricity and fell into merciful sleep under the cool air from the A/C. Our intention was to go to the park office upon awakening, explain our emergent situation, and pay two night's fees. At shortly after 8:00AM, we were awakened by the A/C and everything electric suddenly shutting off - we had no electric power! This was followed shortly by a sharp rapping on our passenger door. We are both disabled/handicapped and are rather slow moving. My wife was able to finally make it to the door and opened it to find a very aggressive man in a golf cart who had unplugged our shore cord from the 50 amp power pole for the space we had parked in. He proceeded to rudely confront my wife, saying, "Do you realize that you pulled in at 4:10AM and disturbed my guests?" My wife calmly explained our situation, that we took great care to be as quiet and quick as possible, we didn't think that we disturbed anyone. He cut her off and told her that we arrived after hours and we can't come in there without calling first. My wife sincerely apologized for any misunderstanding or inconvenience, but that we intended to come to the office this morning and pay for two nights. The man replied rudely, "There's no way you're staying here - you disturbed my guests! You have 10 minutes to be off this property or I'll call the Sheriff!" My wife remained calm and asked again, "Can't we just pay you and stay one more night - we're already here and we have no power without 50 amp hookup" The man replied, "You have 10 minutes to be off the property or I'm calling the Sheriff!" He then turned on his heel, got in his golf cart and left. Needless to say, we cranked the bus, reeled in our shore cord, and left as quickly as possible - not out of fear of him calling the Sheriff - but out of concern that, if he talked to me the way he had talked to my wife, I might have felt compelled to respond to his insults in a way that may have ended up with me in jail! Kidding - I'm almost 65, disabled and partially paralyzed - the worst I could do is call him bad names! :-) My reason for writing this epistle is to alert unsuspecting RV'ers that, while the Capital City RV Park is an adequate campground, catching the proprietor in a bad mood will ruin an otherwise perfect RV experience! My advice is to log onto RVillage.com and get recommendations from thousands of RV'ers just like you who can share favorite parks based on real life experiences! Bottom line - we would not stay at Capital City RV Park again - even if it were the last RV park in America! Consider yourself forewarned! read more

The park was neat and clean, the site were level, and paved. I called on a Sunday, a week before we planned to arrive, to make a reservation. The person who answered the phone seemed kinda either in a hurry or distracted. I got the impression that he didn't want me to give him any information until he asked for it, then only the information he asked for, and he wanted to get off the phone as soon as possible. There was a mix up in our reservations, but I have to acknowledge that part of it was my fault. When I made the reservation, I told him Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday nights, but I gave him the wrong days of the month. Neither of us caught the mistake, but I felt that he should have because surely his reservation "book" had both the day of the week and the day of the month. They had us down to arrive on Saturday by 3:00. When they called, we were attending a wedding and it was a number of hours later before I could return the call. The person I talked with was very nice and said it would be OK because they still had room for us on Sunday. They have Wifi, but don't expect to use it much. I was able to occasionally get my email, but if you want to play games online, even simple ones, don't expect to do it. Of course, if it was a time of the year when they weren't so busy it might have been better. I was told by a customer that sometimes they don't turn it on. Of course, I don't know that this is correct. No park is perfect, and no employee is either. We all have our bad days, so all in all it was a nice experience. read more

I've been here for 3 weeks, working out of town, and will be here possibly for several months. When I scheduled my arrival, my plans changed. Mike, the owner, was very accommodating with my schedule. It's great to be at a place where the owner takes pride in in his business. The grass is immaculate, beautiful pond, beautiful landscaping, and plenty of space to run my dogs. (If I ever get the chance to bring them down here!) The cones give great direction on where to go and late at night they give you enough direction to dim your lights so other campers are not disturbed. (I prefer the cones much more than boulders that could damage your camper or ruts from rigs that we are all too familiar, in the grass, with at other sites.) Mike took his time to help me park my camper in the spot of my choice after he showed me the sites in his golfing cart and although I was second guessing his directions while pulling into park the camper I guess...after helping others so many times before.... He guided me to the exact spot I needed to be in. Thanks Mike! I'm happy here and plan to stay until my work in Montgomery is done. read more

I would highly advise avoiding this park at all costs. Not because the park is bad, but because the owner is THE WORST host i've ever seen. I made a reservation earlier in the week, and I had planned on arriving at around 2 PM. My travel plans changed, and I wasn't able to make it to the park until around 9PM. I called to let someone know but no answer. So I went anyway. The office was closed, but when I made the reservation, he said he didn't assign sites. You just picked one. So I did. Big mistake. If you're not "checked in" by 7PM you're out on the street. It's not like I was just showing up out of the blue. When I called the owner, he was very rude. He mentioned the "No entry after 7PM" sign and basically told me to "get lost". So I did. and as I was leaving, he showed up on a golf cart and acted like he wanted fight. Comical. Bottom line, the owners hospitality and disposition was the WORST. I've stayed in RV Parks/resorts all over the country and have never run into anyone so rude and unaccommodating! I wouldn't stay there knowing he was the owner if it was free. Do yourself a favor, go stay ANYWHERE else. You've been warned. read more

Almost didn't stay due to previous bad review. However, the location was too good to pass up so we gave it a try. Absolutely one of the nicest places we have stayed in in the past 3 weeks of traveling in our coach. Nice people with clearly stated rules that keep this park in pristine condition. We enjoyed two nights and will be back as we have family in the area. So it is safe to say there are two sides to every story and the one star review was clearly written by someone that thinks the rules are for others and not him. read more

This is a VERY NICE RV park. We had NO complaints about the park. Very clean, nice wide RV spots. Full hook-ups, bathhouse was very clean as well. The park owner? was very nice and courteous to my husband, personally escorted us through the park to help us park our 36' motor home and tow dolly. Asked us if we needed any help with the hook-ups and never "bothered" us again! I loved this RV park because it is conveniently located near the softball fields, QUIET CLEAN park! Nice for overnight stays. No loud music or partying in the park. LOVED that! We are not party poopers, but love to have peace and quiet after 10 pm. The dog park is very nice as well! My dogs were able to run around without a leash and I could sit in the shade and watch them. We plan on coming back next year and staying again! The Brackins Columbus, MS read more

Nice RV Park, grass area next to all sites. All pull thru/gravel sites. Very clean, well maintained and spacious sites with Full hook ups. Owner and staff are very nice and helpful! RV park was almost full. Would definitely stay here again. No pool, reason for 4 stars. Had a Bark Park and Pet Walk for dogs. read more

On our way back to Fl. from Ky. we stayed overnight. The park is very clean and Mike the owner / manager was very friendly and informative. We did make a reservation a few days prior to arriving. I am working in the area for a extended period of time and called and talked to Mike(owner/host)about reservations. After multiple phone conversations with him he told me he could accommodate me and would be in touch for final details. I was passing by the park and just wanted to check it out so I rode through(wrong thing to do). Park is kept very well and looked very inviting, but then there was Mike! As I was exiting the park a man was waiting for me, sitting on a golf cart, smoking a cigarette near the park exit. I stopped and rolled down my window and he abruptly asked me if I could read. I explained I could read and told him who I was and that we had spoken on the phone multiple times and was just checking out the park. He again insulted my intelligence by asking me if I could read because he had just installed a new sign that was large enough for everyone to read, he thought! The sign said only park guest allowed in park, or something like that! He then went on a rant about I should have stopped at office and so on and so forth. At this point his phone rang and he said "see here this is probably a guest complaining about strange vehicles in park!" After that I told him to remove my reservation and he wouldn't be getting any of my money! With all that, nice park but owner ruins it in my book! Would not recommend this place to anyone and stay away if might want a guest or friend to stop by unannounced! read more
