My husband and I stopped here for the night. If you pay with cash or check and a Good Sam member you get a discount. The people are so friendly and the sites were VERY long and level. The most amusing thing here is seeing rabbits of all colors hopping around! We found out the owner has rabbits they allow to roam free. We totally love this! To get to this campground from I-65, there is a sharp-ish turn onto Venable. Road. The entrance to the campground is a bit tight as part of it is blocked off with a cone. The interior roads are also challenging with more cones and other obstacles. Do-able but could be nerve wracking for more timid drivers. A very nice lady checked us in. She was cordial and quick and led us to our site. Someone also greeted you on your way out to see if everything was ok which is a nice touch. The site was plenty long enough for our 45 ft MH and toad. It was also pretty darn level, so we were able to use our air levelers. Sites are close together with just a strip of grass separating them. There are a fair number of long-term renters. Lots of hot spots - 10 of them - but none worked for us. Luckily, T-Mobile was 5G 4 bars and Verizon was 4G 4 bars, so we used our own hot spots. Satellite would not be a problem. For us, the noise was pretty awful. You have a great view of the traffic, and all that associated racket. In addition, you are treated to trains, planes, and either guns or fireworks (not sure which). Pretty pricey considering the hubbub of noise and lack of Wi-Fi. We'll keep looking if in the area again. read more

The park is well laid out with all pull through spaces and the staff is very nice. We stayed three nights. The traffic on I-65 is noticeable as a low hum which we readily slept through however the trains that roll through often and at 0230ish, 0430ish blow their horns and it woke me up. The water is soft; use less soap. The TV discovered 60 digital channels and we watched the Olympics. There's a Safari Park 1/2 a mile down the road that is fun to drive through. read more

Cute little family-owned campground, easily accessible to historic and civil rights sites in the Montgomery area. We spent Easter weekend here in 2022. Welcoming from the start, friendly staff, nice big inviting front porch on the gift shop/office. Good size sites, lovely area to walk around with sculptures of various farm animals for whimsy, clean bathroom and shower. read more

We have been to many RV parks and this one ranks one of the highest. the grounds were very well kept. Sites were very level and well maintained. the laundry and restroom/shower areas were extremely clean. The best part is the management is fantastic. They even greeted us on our way out and thanked us for staying with them. Highly recommend this place!!!!!! We would never stay anywhere else if back in this area. read more

This park turned out to be a very nice surprise! The first good impression came with the lovely lady who greeted me. She was pleasant and welcoming, even though we'd mistakenly made our reservation for a different park! Fortunately, they had an opening for our two night stay. The office area has a front porch with rocking chairs and a picnic table for just relaxing and visiting. We had an easy in large pull through site and this park provided everything it promised & more! read more

Just an overnight stop but really enjoyed my stay here. It's one of the nicest parks I've ever been to. Great owner and great park. Easy in and out. Big rig friendly, nice wide lanes and good internal gravel roads. It's close to the interstate but not noisy at all. Free WiFi, nice clean bathrooms, and owner has coffee ready in the morning. There are a few permanent residents but everyone keeps their sites neat and clean. Just a really nice park that you should stop and stay in if you're in the area. read more

BLUF: https://montgomerysouthrvpark.com (334)284-7006 We stayed at Montgomery South RV Park and Cabins 7/15 for an over night stop on our way to Fort Pickens, FL. The park is right off of I-65 and has a truck stop on their exit which is super convenient. Upon arrival I was greeted by Debbie in the office and she was so kind and helpful getting us checked in and giving us a great site based on our 43' 5th wheel that would make leaving in the morning super easy. Most of the sites are fairly level 100' crushed gravel pull-thrus with full hookups. No cable but you will get more than 30 HD OTA channels no problem including local news a s weather. They have WiFi throughout the park running off of multiple routers so reach isn't an issue. There isn't very much shade as it is a newer park but when the trees do grow it will be really nice and shaded. The park is well kept and the office is well stocked with most of the things you would need to make minor fixes on your RV or if you forgot things (as we often do). They are military and veteran friendly and offer a discount, Debbie's husband Chuck is a retired Marine. Only drawback honestly is their website. It isn't the fastest or the most user friendly and you still have to call to make your reservation after filling out a lengthy form. I skipped that part and just called, Debbie was super helpful and got us booked in no time. Highly recommend! read more

Had a very pleasant stay at Montgomery South RV Park. We were arriving late and received a call to check on our arrival time. Debbie was extremely friendly in all our communications and was there to greet us upon our arrival, even though it was after hours. The park is very clean with nice shower and bathroom facilities. Plenty of wifi access and good water pressure. Don't forget to use a pressure regular for the city hookup. AAA discount also. Located close to 65 and right down the street from the Alabama Safari Park which we highly recommend if your kids enjoy feeding exotic animals. Buy plenty of food buckets and watch out for the greedy camels!!! read more

Stayed here overnight. Very clean R.V. Park. Spots were large and roads thru park easy to navigate with a large R.V. staff was very friendly. WiFi available but we did not test it out. Big grassy areas to walk our dogs. Plenty of light to give sense of security. Will be back our next trip thru the area. read more

Stopped through for two nights. The staff was friendly and the park was clean. Not a ton of shade, but we were there in early May and it wasn't too hot. It's not far from the interstate, but I couldn't hear any road noise. There is a Love's and a Flying J at the on ramp to I-65, so it was easy to gas up on our way out. It was about 15 miles from downtown Montgomery. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was on our second day the wind shifted and you could smell the cattle nearby. It didn't bother me, but if you have a sensitive nose and are bothered by the smell of manure it might be an issue for you. read more

Very nice. Very clean and very friendly owners. Not an easy arrival from the south from hwy 231. It would be perfect if there was cable tv. Right now it isn't there. It is local digital on the antenna. We stayed one night northbound from Florida in a motor home towing. The sites are level gravel and very nice. read more

Heading for Texas when we headed straight into the Ice Storm of century in Montgomery, AL. Checked for a campground and found Montgomery South RV Park. Called and Jim told us no problem he had room. We arrived and were safe and warm. This campground is right off exit 158 of I65 and while parked at the campground you have a good view of I65. There was a Flying J at the exit that made it easy to fuel up before we left. Because of the severe cold everything was frozen, but he had two nice bathrooms and shows and an adequate laundry room. 50 AM service, pull through sites with water and sewer. Only down fall was no Cable TV. He has satellite but not cable. WIth the antenna you can pick up some local channels. read more

We were driving from Virginia to New Orleans in a VW van and needed a place to stop for the night. This campground was perfect. It is conveniently close to the interstate but noise is not a problem. We checked in late and they were very accommodating. I think they even opened a little early the next morning so that we could pay and get on the road. We had a nice, level spot with a picnic table. The bathrooms are really nice! Sometimes showers at campgrounds are creepy but this one was so clean and even had a heat light to warm the room. This campground is perfect for travelers and they are pet friendly. read more

Very clean park. Friendly staff. Conveniently located off expressway. Sites are pretty close together, which leads to the following comment. We were parked next to a couple that had 3 small dogs that barked incessantly. They barked for hours straight when they were gone and when they returned. Barked at 1:00 am, 7:00 am, all were heard was "girls be quiet." We have dogs of our own, so it isn't that we don't like dogs we just think it is rude when people have no control over their pets and no regard for fellow campers. read more

The owner was super friendly and helpful. Always a nice way to start a stay. Camp ground is right off of Hwy 65 so easy access, and a good stop over while heading North or South. Also, makes for a fair amount of road noise, with the heat all our windows were closed so couldn't really hear it inside. Easy drive in but your GPS will stop you just a little short of the entrance, at the neighbors driveway, so make sure you look for the RV's and cabins before turning in. There are about 30 sites, some are permanent residents, but they are all well maintained. There are also cabins to rent. Sites are about average width and long enough for our 37-foot RV and tow-dolly. All sites are gravel with a cement patio, a picnic table and fire ring. Water pressure was great, in fact it is so strong you really need a regulator for your hose. The water is very soft, so go light on the soap and shampoo! Wi-Fi was good, our Verizon phone strength was good, and there is not a tree in sight so if you use a satellite you should have no problem. Laundry room and bathrooms were very clean. On one side of the camp is a large field that worked out great for walking the dog, if your dog is good off leash it is the perfect place for a game of fetch. They are a Passport America park, but we got the weekly rate of $150. They are about 20 minutes from downtown Montgomery and all of it's activities. read more
