Michelle Collins therapeutically engaged me and my spouse. At the time I didn't recognize it because of my inability to accept the faults of my relationship. More often than not people like to blame others when things are not going as good as one would like. Unfortunately, I have to apologize to you for being one of those persons for not recognizing all that she has done with and for me and Nick. Therapeutically, her guidance and support has allowed us to self reflect and get in the place of balance and peace in our marriage, in which I know would have been overlooked and neglected without your guidance. We did our pre-marriage counseling with Michelle at Emily Cook Therapy. She was so wonderful. We both loved her. Since we hadn't done counseling before, both of us were a little nervous about it before we started. Michelle put us at ease from the start and we both gained so much from our sessions-- she gave us so many tools for success. We even enjoyed the process a lot, which neither of us expected. Plus, the office is in a great location, so, after the sessions, we usually had a mini date and hit up a restaurant or went window shopping in the cute downtown Bethesda area. I've been working with Emily on some personal issues for almost a year and a half now. I continue to go see her because she never judges, she helps guide me toward self acceptance and self love, and she is so easy to talk to. I find it amazing that she always remembers what's going on in my life, no matter how many weeks pass between our sessions, and I always really feel like she genuinely cares about my well being -- like she's always rooting for me. I normally don't write reviews but I feel like to need to do a public service and warn people about Emily Cook. She made an extremely stressful time in my life all the more stressful by lying to me (and then denying it), having my partner read books that would make most people further doubt their marriage, and by telling me she had insights she wanted to share with me next session and then forget the insights (she would even forget that she said we would revisit the subject). If my partner and I had gone to a different therapist I have no doubt we would not be divorced. We have since found a different therapist who is honest and insightful. My partner now very much regrets the divorce and we are a very happy couple despite the devastation Emily helped facilitate. read more
